It is an all-adult, all-inclusive resort. They are in a transition to the new owner, and the gift shop won't be open until December 25. The property is quaint and clean. I did not find on the web site that long pants (jeans OK) and a shirt with a collar was required for dinner. The first night, I had trouble getting my wine refilled, but things got much better afterwards. The guests were primarily elderly British and Canadians. The water activities were plentiful (snorkeling, water skiing, boat ride, and kayaking). The choices in liquor were average, and the Courvosier was kept in the back, and you had to request it. The enterainment was nothing spectacular. Dinner at Enid's resaurant was above average.

Room Tip: We were guaranteed a "garden view" room, but we ended up in a second story room overlooking the ocean which was about 10 yards from our balcony. Some rooms did not have balconies. There are 4 stories without elevators.

We booked through tropical sky the soco hotel, and were disappointed to be told it isn't ready ( it still isn't , and won't be for done time !!!)so this hotel was a rushed decision, however we were mostly pleased with the outcome. Check in was fine although we were annoyed that tropical sky hadn't told us we would have to leave a bond of 300 dollars on arrival. Our room was spacious and clean , the location is great , it's an easy walk into holetown , it isn't beachfront but a short walk to the right brings you to a beautiful beach and a short wet walk to the left brings you to sandy lane beach. The hotel had a very quiet atmosphere when we were there but the entertainment varied from fair to really good. My only major criticism is evening service in the main dining room is shockingly poor, there are plenty of lovely friendly staff but it is disorganised and poorly run. The food however is good ( when it arrives ) and the chefs at breakfast and lunch are fab.
As with all places a tip and a smile works wonders.

This was our 6th visit to this hotel but the first time since it has been taken over by elite island resorts and although some of the things other guests used to complain about never bothered us, I have to say there seems to be a great improvement all round. There are still a great number of original staff and managers at the hotel which is great as we like to see their friendly faces, but also some lovely new people as well. The managers Kevin and Gerry seem truly excited about all the new changes to the hotel and we would like to thank you for all that you did for us during our stay. There was some cosmetic work going on while we were there, painting the outside of the buildings, extending the swimming pool area, new doors and locks on rooms, this was often going on directly outside our room or where we were sun bathing but did NOT disturb us in the slightest, hardly any noise at all and the builders/painters were very friendly. The food is still very, very good which it needs to be as you no longer have the option of eating at the restaurants in other hotels as no longer part of the Almond group. I would suggest however a time slot booking system in the main restaurant in the evening as unfortunately service does slow down if you are part of a large party or just happen to want to eat during a busy time. I would also like to see the return of the waters edge restaurant on the beach as it was my favourite and was a bit upset that the karaoke night was no longer happening (for the odd late night laugh), the evening entertainment is still quite low key. Afternoon bar snacks are now available as well as the afternoon tea so you can now eat pretty much all day if you want to. The beach area has also been greatly improved, it is still raised up (obviously nothing can be done about that) but the area has been extended and fresh new sand imported, new sun loungers and umbrellas for both the beach and pool and was told all new furniture in the bar/restaurant areas was due in very soon. Rooms are fresh and clean with new tv's but still waiting for some new furniture for them as well. We will definitely be back again next year to see what else has changed...keep it up!

This hotel is friendly and comfortable. We stayed for 11 nights and had a lovely holiday. The location is good for pottering around all the pretty local shops or taking a stroll along the beautiful beaches. The hotel itself is being refurbished but with very little disturbance to the guests. The rooms are neat and clean, the food is typical of the general standard for all inclusive. We met a lovely mix of Americans, Canadians and various Brits, all of whom chatted together and made the whole experience more enjoyable. The general opinion was that the hotel was comfortable relaxing and enjoyable. good value for money and enhanced by such a lovely set of staff. This hotel is good value for money. Maybe it hasn't got the beach that nearby Sandy lane is trying to hog but its got enough and if you like snorkelling, its a 2 minute stroll along to the next beach which has the most fabulous coral reef. 2 minutes the other way and your on the beach star spotting and swimming with the sandy lane set. Its just great.......

Room Tip: Just simply tell the hotel what you prefer

Sat here on the balcony looking out over the pool area and the signs of improvement are here for all to view. Elite are trying their best to spruce the place up with apartments being painted, new patio area around the pool complex, new furniture around both the pool and restaurant. Is there still room for improvements, to a degree, the shower in our room runs slow, a bit like the pace of life on this beautiful island, have I complained, no because otherwise the room is absolutely fine. One thing that remains from the days under the Almond Beach ownership is the fantastic staff. I have never meet a greater bunch of people, always friendly and willing to help even when they are under stress. There are too many to mention, but as always thanks go to the ladies at the beach bar Sophia and Lucille, Sophia and all the girls in the Sunset Restaurant and Jade. The material view of the place may change but the staff are the foundation stones that remain unchanged. God willing we will return next year.
