My husband and I stayed at this resort from Oct 20-27 and had a fantastic vacation. The staff were wonderful and went out of their way to make our 30th Anniversary very special. The food was delicious and there was a good variety to choose from. My husband is a vegetarian and the chief was very accommodating in a providing a menu of enjoyable food. The resort is undergoing renovations and updating, but this did not affect our stay. Everyday new items appeared to replace outdated items around the resort. We stayed in an oceanfront room on the fourth floor, where we enjoyed listening to the waves. The resort is located on the west coast in a quiet spacious area near Holetown.

Carol & Rick, St Catharines On Canada

Room Tip: I always prefer an oceanfront room to listen to the waves.

Like most Holiday travellers I read the Reviews for the (newly named) Club prior to booking and was therefore quite sceptical as to what we would actually find on arrival as many of the Reviews were quite negative and would have led us to believe that the place was run down & dowdy.
Having been to Barbados many times over the past 12 years we were at least confident that the Hotel was in a beautiful resort with good beaches & easy access to the Sea for (our passion) of Swimming,Snorkelling,Water Sports.
On arrival (via Virgin) at Grantley Adams we were immediately disappointed by the dilapidated Mini-Bus sent to transfer the Virgin passengers to their respective West Coast Hotels and concerned that this was to be the start of a disaster.....this worry lasted only for the duration of the Journey however as the Welcome & Good Humour at the Club's reception was superb & incredibly efficient & had us comfortably settled in our room within 10 minutes of arrival.
The packake we had paid for included a room upgrade to a superior Pool View & this proved to be room 425 overlooking both the Pool & the Sunset Restaurant patio area with a slight view of the Beach & Sea to the left.......despite the climb up to the 4th floor (good for working off the Calories 3 times a day!) we were delighted with the size of the Suite/Terrace/Bathroom,etc & the excellent presentation & cleanliness in general.
The Room had ample storage space & the Air-Con was instant & efficient quiet & the added welcoming gesture of a small bottle of Rum,Bottled water in the Fridge & the much needed Tea & Coffee making tray had us settled in less than 30 minutes & exploring the Hotel within the hour.
The most obvious & striking fact about the Club were the Staff..........as we walked to the Sunset Bar everyone greeted us with a smile & the Barman was happy & chatty as we got our first cocktail.
A quick walk round the Restaurant (this was now about 4.00pm) confirmed that the BeachSide setting was as described & would prove to be refreshingly cool as the open plan format, from the Pool to the Sea,enjoyed a sweet breeze.
My wife,Lynne, has Coeliac Disease & this had been specified on the booking and we had been told to make sure we met with the Chef on arrival for him & his Staff to be able to cater for Lynne's gluten & wheat free dietary needs...as such we met the Chef D'Jour & he was marvellous & went through the evenings menu & advised which dishes were OK or which to avoid.
The "beach" is,as advised, virtually non-existent but the Hotel has created a fabulous Sandy area directly in front of the Restaurant with ample SunLoungers & plenty of shade provided by the trees if required. The Beach Bar is super & well stocked with Quality branded labels & the Staff here are fabulous & great fun to chat & banter with.
We strolled to the adjacent Beach (to the right) at least twice every day as the suggested walk to Sandy Lane's beach is only possible at the lowest of tides and even then involves the risk of a good soaking!!!
We were genuinely surprised by the abundance of water sports activities (all included within your package) and the friendliness of the Boat crews (special mention to my mate Sylvester!) who were available for bookings from 9.00am to 4.00pm every day.......the only Chargable item was the 1.00pm daily trip to the Turtle feeding grounds (maximum 4 people each day) which has to be booked in advance at a minimal cost of $60 BDS per person........if you don't do anything else during your stay you simply MUST do this as it is truly Awe Inspiring & will remain as our greatest Holiday memory.
The overall experience of our 10 nights was faultless and we thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of The Club (even the "cheesy" guitarist/singer on 2 nights!)
While we can't comment on Enid's cuisine (can't accomodate Coeliacs) the food in the Sunset was excellent & the A La Carte menu could always include Steaks or Lobster at a very reasonable supplement.
Yes....there was indeed lots of refurb work going on during our stay but this never once felt intrusive or objectionable and it is quite obvious that the improvements will be significant once finished...I only hope that the prices don't rocket in accordance!
There are too many names to be able to single out anyone who was outstanding in the Staff as everyone was a delight provided that YOU showed the necessary respect for the SLOWER speeds of BAJAN lifestyles.......if you're in ahurry for ANYTHING while on the Island.........you've probably chosen the wrong destination for your Holiday.
We will absolutely be returning to the Club in the next couple of years & look forward to seeing those wonderful smiling faces of what must be one of the BEST Teams on the West Coast that we've enjoyed in all our visits.

Room Tip: pay the small extra charge for a Pool or Sea view & avoid the ground floor Garden units if you d...

This was our fifth visit to Barbados, four to the Almond Beach Club and this one to The Club under the new management of Elite.
We stayed from the 1st to 16th October and had a great holiday and it was wonderful to see and meet so many of the staff from previous visits: they are the best!
There is a lot going on with regard to refurbishment and this can only enhance upon the already excellent atmosphere and aura that this location exudes. Couple this with the great food and service, adults only and location; its hard to beat!

Having read previous reviews of this hotel from several months ago we were very worried when we were transferred here from our original choice of hotel. However we nedn't have worried. Yes the hotel is currently being refurbished, but it is not intusive. There isn't a very large beach, but there are more than adequate sunloungers around the pool and in the gardens. There are also some fantastic beaches within 3 minute walk. The rooms are spacious and clean, the food is good but the best part are the staff who are so friendly and helpful it was unbelievable, a very pleasant suprise.

My wife and I have been coming to Barbados for over twenty years and thought we would try out this hotel for a change as we normally stay at the Bougainvillea on the South coast, and before that the Casuarina (prior to it becoming all-inclusive). It is always a bit of a gamble with unknown hotels, particularly when reading the experiences of others on this site, but I have to say we were delighted with our choice. We arrived on 16 October for a week and stayed in a one-bedroomed suite close to the reception area. Hotel staff were very welcoming on our arrival and this continued throughout our whole stay. Our suite on the first floor was clean and tidy, with a very good shower in the bathroom and adequate storage space for all our clothes, and had been redecorated in the not too distant past. New flat screen televisions (one in the bedroom, one in the lounge) were installed during our stay.

The restaurant served an expansive selection of buffet food for both breakfast and lunch, enough to cater for all food tastes (including a fusspot like me), and the menu choice for the waitress service evening meal was good, the food being very well presented when it arrived at the table. We also sampled Enid's Restaurant during our stay (evenings only - bookable) and this was also a very good dining experience with plenty of food choices. Staff at both restaurants were excellent and went out of their way to please.

The bar area was very comfortable, with adequate seating inside and out to relax in whilst sipping that cold beer or rum punch. Friendly staff provided good service and a wide range of drinks were on hand for those with adventurous tastes, although I never managed to work through all the different flavours of rum available!

Entertainment was provided every evening during our stay. There was a piano player in the restaurant up to 8pm and then solo or group entertainers took over in the 'dancing' area adjacent to the restaurant and bar, so there was always music to eat by, which was a nice touch.

Sunbathing could be enjoyed either in the garden, around the pool or out on the beach area. The beach itself is level with the hotel, with steps down to a very narrow sandy strip for getting into the water. Plenty of sunbeds were available (and new ones were arriving during our stay) and my wife never had any trouble finding a spot with a bit of shade, either in the garden or on the beach. For those wanting a larger beach experience, walking 100 metres one way took you past the adjacent timeshare hotel into other bays, and walking the other way (when the tide was out) took you towards the beach of Sandy Lane for those with aspirations of grandeur. All the usual watersports are available for the athletic types and there was certainly plenty of activity during our time at the hotel (not by us, I hasten to add - maybe next time).

Work is ongoing around the hotel to improve the facilities after the change of ownership, but this seems to have been planned to cause minimum interference and it certainly never interfered with our holiday enjoyment. All in all the facilities, staff and bar/restaurant experience were first rate and this hotel is well worth a visit. We will certainly make an effort to be back here in January to carry on where we left off last week.

Just returned from The Club Barbados and had a fabulous time. The staff are friendly and helpful throughout and if you make a friend of them will treat you as part of their family. I usually travel alone so find this very comforting and welcoming. The resort is undergoing some work but during my time there I had new air conditioning and a plasma tv installed in my room and new parasols and sunbeds were provided by pool - none of this affected my stay in any way as was done quietly and efficiently. My third visit this year and I will be back asap.

Stayed at the Club for the first 2 weeks in October 2012 and had a great time. Travelled with friends. I was informed before we left the UK that the hotel had been taken over - we had already been moved there because of the Beach Village closing down. We saw some horrendous reviews and were quite worried on the way out there. On arrival we were welcomed with a cocktail and showed to our rooms. My husband and I had a garden view room with a lovely balcony. It had been redecorated. The bathroom wasn't 5 star but was clean and adequate. The new owners are obviously making a real effort to bring the hotel up to date and although there was work going on it didn't interfere with our stay. We saw quite a few changes during our 2 weeks there and it would be nice to go back to see the completed effort when they have worked around the whole hotel. The staff were really friendly. The restaurant staff in particular were great and even when the hotel got busier they tried their best to maintain the service. The food was great. I'm quite fussy. It was buffet breakfast and lunch with a la carte in the evenings (apart from beach bbq night and managers cocktail night). They also served afternoon tea. We hired a car and went out for the day and the hotel packed up a lunch for us which was really lovely. If you ask they give you a sheet and you choose what you want. No extra charge - it is part of the all inclusive. There could be more shades around the pool although in saying that there are loads of trees which provide shade so you didn't have to sit in the full sun if you didn't want to. We ventured out on the public buses and at no time felt intimidated or uncomfortable. The locals were really friendly. If you had a problem and reported it to the reception it was dealt with quickly and efficiently in our experience and we were impressed as most places you are still asking days later. It certainly helps to be friendly to the staff and it doesn't cost anything to smile when you pass them in the grounds. I imagine the staff have been experiencing really tough times with the economic climate in Barbados at the moment and yet they still managed to make sure we had a good time. All I can say is - thank you to everyone at the Club who made our stay very comfortable and relaxing.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from reception and main entrance as this was a noisy area. Our friends experien...
