We went to Barbados for our honeymoon 25 years ago and stayed at Glitter Bay which are now condos! We decided to stay at The House based on the wonderful reviews it received and we were not disappointed. I loved this wonderful, intimate, shabby chic hotel!! The staff was amazing, especially Chris (Ambassador) and Jennifer (Bartender)!! We loved that you can snorkel right off of the beach!! We saw the most beautiful fish and even a turtle swam by!! Our room was perfect as well as our view! I loved the fact that there were only 34 rooms so it wasn't ever crazy busy!! It has a wonderful, laid back atmosphere! If you are looking for a brass band, I would recommend going elsewhere!! If you are looking for a relaxing, intimate vacation, this is the place to stay! Thank you to everyone at The House for making our 25th Anniversary a truly memorable experience that we will treasure for the rest of our years together!! I look forward to returning someday!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 364 which had huge and had amazing views of the ocean and sunset!!

Two trips to The House (three to Barbados) and completely love this place! Almost dont want to share the experience to keep it our little hidden secret. We are able to stay anywhere on the island (including Sandy Lane) however its The House staff and experience that keeps us returning to Barbados.

We have been to the west coast of Barbados a number of times over the years and on this occasion as we were celebrating a landmark wedding anniversary thought we would try somewhere different. Wow, are we glad we stayed at The House!!
This is an adult only hotel with only 34 rooms and the most amazing atmosphere created in the main by the wonderful staff. From being picked up at the airport by a lovely guy whose name I can't remember (sorry :-( ) to being greeted by Bibi on arrival, served breakfast by Andrew, drinks by Teddy, massage by Sheena, I could go on and on listing ALL the Ambassadors because they all go the extra mile to make sure their guests have absolutely everything they could possibly want. However for fear of missing someone out or forgetting someone's name, I'll leave it at that!! Suffice it to say that Joanne heads up a really professional operation at The House.
We stayed in an ocean view junior Suite which had great views and was nicely furnished The huge bathroom had a great shower and Elemis products. My only negative comment about the room would be about the air conditioning unit which sits on the wall to the side of the bed and blows cold air on to the bed. My husband ended up with a pain in his shoulder on waking up on the first morning which I think was due to the air conditioning. From then on we did not have it on at night. This did make the room rather hot but I think it was preferable to the cold ar.
Breakfast was included in the package. It was a Champagne buffet with a great selection of cereals, fresh fruit, yogurts, smoked salmon, eggs done whichever way you liked, and everything that goes with eggs!! All this served with fruit juices, water and coffee. Also included is a 30 minute massage each, afternoon tea at 4 and evening canapés at 6.30. All in all it is these little touches that singles out The House from the rest and makes it the best!
Whilst there is no on-site restaurant here at The House, if you don't want to go too far, you can still order food, and all lunches and dinners ordered come from Daphne's which is next door. We dined at Daphne's on our anniversary and had a great meal topped off with an anniversary firework and chocolates!! Again everybody goes the extra mile.
The location of The House also makes this a winner. Paynes Bay has a great sandy beach with water sports available if you want them. Yes you do get beach vendors like on any beach in Barbados, but they are very polite if you say 'no'. The pool is also a big plus and both beach and pool are immaculately kept at all times.
All in all this has to be one of the best kept secrets in Barbados and long may that continue. We will DEFINITELY be staying here on our next visit and I can't wait. Thanks to EVERYBODY at The House for making this the best experience and keep on doing what you do because you are the best!!

Room Tip: Ocean view corner junior suite has a large balcony.

Words cannot describe the fantastic time we had at the House in Barbados. The House is such an appropriate name for this wonderful, gem of a resort, and Joanne the general manager and her staff have created an atmosphere fitting for its name. From the minute you step into the House, you are warmly welcomed and enveloped into the gracious Bajan hospitality. One begins with a welcome glass of rum punch before being introduced to the amenities offered and a guided tour of the resort.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and at the House they provide you a real treat. From the glass of cold, refreshing Champagne to the wide assortment of fresh fruit, hot items at the breakfast bar, salmon and an egg station where you request eggs made to your personal preference.
Agnes, Andrew, Alana, Diana, "Canadian"' Christopher, Raul, Kevin (my son says his name is Kerri and he is the farmer), as well as all the other Ambassadors whose name I can’t remember are outstanding and friendly, going out of their way to assist you. Agnes and Andrew made most of the dinner reservations for us and they go out of the way requesting for the restaurants to provide us with a wonderful table.
The Ambassadors assigned to beach duty are priceless, providing lots of clean beach towels, cold towels, iced cold bottles of water and ice cream at 3 pm.
We look forward to 4:00 pm for the all-important “Tea time”. We are served a lovely pot of tea of your choice, little assorted sandwiches, scones and cakes. Back in the States, I am sad to announce that my family and I are experiencing the “tea time withdrawal”. Just kidding :^).
There is also Canapés starting at about 6:30 pm.
With all the delicious and abundant amount food provided by the House for their guests, it is a wonder that we managed to eat dinner. We could not resist the wonderful food in Barbados. We had dinner at Scarlet, Cin Cin, Tides, Mews and Daphne. There wasn’t a meal that we did not enjoy eating.
Our favorite and most romantic and memorable meal is the one we had on the beach at the House. Thank you Joanne for arranging two tables for two, side by side in 2 different pavilions. Dinner was prepared by Daphne’s. Andrew, assisted by Diana and Alana, provided us with wonderful, impeccable meal service.
Sheena and Tonya gave my husband and me the complimentary massage. Sheena’s magical fingers did wonders to my aches and pains, and Tonya did likewise for my husband.
In closing, thank you again Joanne and your fantastic staff for providing us such a lovely vacation. One’s worries just melt away.

Room Tip: Higher floors, facing the ocean.

My wife and I stayed at The House in late September. The staff was very welcoming upon arrival, greeting us with a cold towel(absolutely necessary as the heat is oppressive), a cool cocktail and many smiles.
We stayed in an ocean view junior suite. The room was as described on their web site, very well maintained with beautiful views of the ocean and the sunsets. The bathroom was large enough with a shower/tub combo and double sinks. It had marble and granit floors and counters. The shower had an overhead rain spout, a handheld spout and side jets. The bed was comfortable with lots of pillows. The air conditioner was positioned right above the bed causing a bit of a problem as the cold air blew right on the bed. The balance of the room consisted of a couch, a chair with ottoman, a flat screen TV and a couple of dressers. There was adequate space for two people and their belongings.
The hotel located on the carrribean sea allowed for great swimming. The beach chairs were always available with large umbrellas to shield the blazing sun.
Breakfast was available every morning until 10:30. It was very good with many choices. Tea was offered every day at 4:00 PM and was served with small sandwiches and other bakery items. Happy hour was from 5:00-6:00 pm with select drinks 2 for 1. Every evening at 6:30 canapés were served as well.
The hotel is centrally located on the west coast in the center of all the top rated restaurants. There are local eateries in the area as well. The busses run regularly and cost $1.00 US. Taxis are available at your request as well.
Overall our stay at The House was a great experience and we would not hesitate to return again.
