This is our last day here at The House. We have had a wonderful relaxing time in this very elegant boutique style hotel. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. From the Champagne breakfast, to mid morning cooling towels, to complimentary water and ice-cream and afternoon tea through to Dinner at any of the Islands recommended restaurants and even night time complimentary canapes and supper delights in the form of chocolates, biscotti's etc... all the little extra's makes this House stand out from the rest!

Room Tip: We stayed on the 3rd Floor overlooking the Ocean (room 363!)

This place just gets it! The staff go out of their way to make you feel at home at the House! Apart from the fantastic and beautifully appointed accomodations the extremely friendly staff cannot do enough for you.....nothing is a bother. We stayed in a oceanfront junior suite. The view from our room was second to none....the travel brochure does not lie! We would not recommend the garden view as there is not much to see although those rooms are bigger. The daily champagne breakfast is amazing (full breakfast...whatever you want, unlimited coffee and real champagne!) Afternoon tea is a real treat as well. Both breakfast and Tea are included in your room rate and after looking at restaurant prices in Barbados.....the House room rate ends up being better and better value. Look out for Andrew the English Waiter...he was amazingly friendly and helpful. Full watersports and a beautiful beach. Beach on the small side but typical for Barbados. My wife and I have stayed at many luxury hotels around the world and would rank this place right near the top. Its small size (less than 50 rooms) makes this place extra special. The open air terrace and dining area make you feel like you are at a large private cottage. Will most certainly return here some day.

Room Tip: Oceanfront Junior Suite.....would not recommend Garden View

Hands down, one of our most relaxing and memorable vacations with special thanks to EVERYONE at The House! We had the pleasure of staying here with a group of my husband's colleagues and their wives/husbands/partners. We stayed at the House for 4 nights, and we would have gladly stayed longer if we could.

From the moment we arrived, the Ambassador staff welcomed us, and gladly asked us to relax and enjoy a welcome drink before heading to our room. With a Banks Beer and Rum Punch in hand, my husband and I headed out to the beautiful patio area to admire the ocean front view and greet some of our group members.

Our suite was beautiful and tastefully decorated, impeccably clean, with an amazing view of the ocean. We had Room 267 - and were right above the main patio/bar/breakfast area. We were a bit nervous about the noise level, but we honestly didn't spend enough time in our room to really notice any noise problems.

Our group dined on the beach, had wonderfully cooked breakfasts each morning, enjoyed plenty of rum punch, piña coladas, champagne, and we also enjoyed lunch at Daphne's (their wonderful restaurant - try the lobster spaghetti!), and a private dinner for our group - 4 courses, free flowing wine, and AMAZING service all around!

Other reviewers have mentioned that the Ambassadors really do go above and beyond to help you fully enjoy your experience and I completely agree. One morning, an Ambassador noticed that I had stayed behind while the group was out on a catamaran trip. When I explained that my sea legs weren't strong at all, this kind Ambassador asked if I had been able to enjoy a massage at the spa at the neighboring Tamarind resort (I hadn't), and five minutes later had organized for a masseuse to come The House so that I could relax with a one hour massage. Perhaps one of the BEST massages I have ever had! Such a treat to settle my anxiety about sailing!

I really can't say enou wonderful things about this amazing place. If we ever are able to travel back to Barbados, I'd love to stay here again.

Having spied The House on previous visits to Barbados,we had thought that we must go there one day. Making a last minute decision to go away from the awful English winter we found a good offer from British Airways Holidays for a nine day stay at the House and off we went. Arriving, you notice this is different. No front desk, no reception, just a warm welcome from the staff anyone of which will do anything for you. We were sat down for a welcome rum punch and then taken to our room. BA had booked us a pool/garden suite which was sumptuously furnished but the window of the sitting room looked out onto the main road to Bridgetown which is a GP race track for the local buses. We asked to be moved and were given the most delightful room on the third floor overlooking the sea, it was perfect, more we could not have asked for. The staff are all called "Ambassadors" and will each do anything for you, fetch a drink, book a car, carry your bags, book a restaurant, whatever, so a front desk is redundant . A nice system, I liked it. The manageress, Joanna was ever present and approachable, she runs a good show. The sun beds both on the beach and in the garden, have thick mattresses, good. Breakfast is served in what I, perhaps unkindly, would call a corridor, which is the only access from the front of the hotel to the back,so people are always walking by. To make up for this you get a glass of champagne with your breakfast. Daphne's, one of Barbados' best restaurants, is adjacent, pity you can't have breakfast there. We had a lovely time and were sorry to leave.

Room Tip: The best rooms are one 3rd floor on the south end

If you are checking these reviews before you decide on your hotel, look no further! We have just arrived back from a fantastic week at The House. It is hard to find the right words to describe the experience of staying there. The service is first class. At the end of our stay the staff felt like friends, but never had they crossed the line to be too familiar. There were one or two famous celebrities who were there but everyone was treated equally. Christopher said" You are all stars to us"! The design and layout of the hotel makes it so relaxing, it is difficult to tear yourself away to visit elsewhere. The beach is so clean with ample loungers and gazebos with flowing white voile to shade you. At regular intervals the wonderful staff bring cold water, cold towels, delicious ice cream and fruit kebabs to you on the beach. We went snorkelling with the turtles which was a highlight ( go with Rod the Hat Man on his boat). Wish we were still there!
