“Corporate outing for the cricket”
Reviewed May 26, 2010

Stayed at the world famours Sandy Lane as a guest on a corporate weekend to watch the world cup cricket. We were greeted as long lost friends, given cool towels and met by the manager and a number of staff who then check you in at your room. The atmosphere of the whole place is incredibly relaxed but almost invisibly efficient. We didn't eat dinner in the hotel but breakfast was to die for. You would start with fresh fruit, being healthy but quickly migrate onto eggs how you want them, hams, cheeses, the normal bacon and eggs, corn beef hash, asian rice, in fact you name it, it was there!
At times service around food and drink was a little caribbean but the whole ambience is so beautiful who cares.
The rooms are quite large and everything works just as it should, great bathroom, TV, amenities etc.
We played golf at the country club and the green monkey course and the staff and club were first class.
This place is brilliant and I'm going back again in October with my wife and can't wait.

We have just returned from a week at Sandy Lane. There is nothing about it we would change. You feel like part of an exclusive club when you are there - the other guests were friendly, the staff were friendly and the manager was friendly. We were a bit concerned in advance that it would be a bit stuffy but it wasn't at all. Rooms were amazing (we had a Deluxe Ocean View).

We went to both the West Indian and the Asian buffets and would thoroughly recommend them both (but don't eat during the day beforehand so you can do it justice!)

We were on the beach most days, but it is well worth going to the pool for at least a day. In many ways it is quieter than the beach, and the sun loungers by the pool are so big and soft they are incredible - you just can't stay awake on them!

Definitely go up to the Country Club for a drink at sunset - best views ever.

We ate out of the hotel a couple of times - The Cliff (amazing - wish we had gone a couple of times) and Lonestar (really good but wish i hadn't kept thinking that i should have gone to the Cliff again!)

The fitness suite was gret (huge and not busy) and we had fitness tests and personal training sessions from Ryan and Junior - great guys. Junior even managed to persuade me (a man) to do water aerobics - much much harder than i imagined !

We really enjoyed the fact that most people get dressed up for dinner - the girls all in posh frocks and the men not in jeans (other than a couple of American's who wore jeans and sandals with scrufffy polo shirts at dinner - come on American's please make an effort at a place like this !!)

Overall it has to be 10 out of 10 to Sandy Lane. We will be back (once I have saved up a bit!) and next time for 2 weeks.

Literally the Sandy Lane is beyond compare - I am sure there are the Dubai hotels ,
hotels in Mauritius which are all very good- but here you reach a sort of apogee of
luxury , location and service which makes one less inclined to try the others-for a relaxed beach holiday its the tops.
I would say that the food is better than in the recent past In the Acajou and Bajan Blue
only quibble might be the large portions in Bajan Blue -but many prefer it that way-
We will return again next year -pure pleasure

We stayed here for my 40th birthday , picked up in the Bentley, made to feel special, an incredible room, exceptional staff & service, fantastic food..... expensive but who cares.
Will definitely return, as do over 50% of guests.

The Sandy Lane was lovely. I thank the owners of this resort for their time and energies
in updating the facility. My husband and I played both golf courses(Green Monkey) during our stay...enjoyed the property and everywhere we looked we saw more beauty.
Thank You Sandy Lane... I would stay on the property and perhaps dine a few evenings
at the Cliffs.
We had one beach attendant that we could do without...but not bad considering we
were there for eight days.

Located on a beautiful beach, with a magnificent view on the sea. Perfect beach service (They only wrap too early), excellent food in both restaurants - not too elaborate and beautifully prepared -, atmosphere is enjoyable, staff is nice, articulate and professional, breakfast is spectacular - only the wine list could be improved (tons of wines over $1,000 but very limited choice of drinkable wines around $100). Rooms are perfect, service is spectacular.. Absolutely nothing we could complain about (only our rooms were near the terrace where they were playing music until 11.00).
Extremely nice spa.
A dream place for a relaxing week..

Sandy Lane is pure luxury. Sitting on the beach with flags you can stick up when you want something !! The staff were so friendly and everything you wanted was delivered to your room in the space of 5 mins. Its expensive but really worth it. Great for celeb spotting !!
