Been to Barbados before, Nevis, Antigua, Canouan Island, Bahamas twice, and this was the best all round experience of all of them
Luxury Orchid suite, 2 adults and a 16 year old, terrific accommodation
2 x Golf packages and the wife on a spa package, trying to outdo each other over dinner about who had the best day!
Country Club is a really good holiday course, well laid out and a fair test, unlike some island resort courses which are too tricked up as no room to play with. The old nine is well worth 2 hours of an afternoon, tricky little test but good fun, but the Green Monkey is golfing legend, on the golf package you get 2 rounds on the Country Club for each 5 night period you stay at Sandy Lane, one of which is transferrable to play the Green Monkey, and this is a take your camera golf course, though wet on the times we played it, it was still fantastic, just pips Ocean Club in the Bahama's for all round experience and quality. As an aside I also played Apes Hill which was TPC Sawgrass prices, and a terrific course, but played on my own as nobody around, and a bit of a let down for the cost
We love the St James coast for food, Lone Star, Tides, Daphnes, The Cliff on a Saturday night at a balcony table is one of my all time best meals, Oistins fish fry for the atmosphere on a Friday, Holetown for a couple of beers and a pizza, Lobster Alive, though not fresh in August as out of season
Sandy Lane spa has to be experienced, wife talked all 3 of us into having a massage and I'm delighted she did, massive amout of space, lots of lovely treatment rooms and relaxation areas, great pool, would probably have done more but the relaxation beds and dressing gowns and the music had me asleep 5 mins after my fantastic massage, and the wife left me alone for an hour to enjoy, awesome
Sunday Brunch at Sandy Lane, be hungry, it is fantastic
Oistins fish fry on a Friday, rice&pea and macaroni pie
Antipasti at Daphnes
Anything at the Cliff, book early, first come first served on balcony tables
Tides, terrific food and reasonable prices
PADI diving with Malcolm, just ask at any reception, they all know Malcolm!
Carl the taxi man, dial 24 36991 and he never lets you down
The Green Monkey, bearing in mind there is 1 tee time per day for non residents and it is $4,000 to book, and you have to find the other 3 golfers, it is millionaires golf
Become Bajan, you will enjoy it so much more if you "chill", it is not slow service, they just figure you are not in a rush to get anywhere else!
