“Love it...true paradise”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

We travelled as 6 ladies, leaving our kids and husbands behind to celebrate a 40th Birthday! Well we fell in love with Barbados and Crystal Cove. The place was true paradise. After a 51/2 hour flight from Toronto, we arrived to cold towels and a cold/strong RUM punch. Then rooms were ready right away and we found ourselves on the beach and a ride on the banana boat. All the water sports are included - waterskiing, tubing, kayak, banana boat and catamaran...and trust me we did them all (a few of my friends tubed on our last day 6 times).
We had amazing food, buffet breakfasts, buffet and al a carte lunches and dinners. No disppointments..they also served afternoon tea. They even packed us box lunches for an outside excursion we were taking, and one for our trip home (since we would miss lunch). One extra thing i wanted to mention, was one of our travellers was gluten free and they went out of their way to accomodate her.
The staff, from front desk, housekeeping, wait staff, pool staff, water sports gang, they were truly nice, genuine people. All of you at Crystal Cove, kudos for a job well done!!
One word to describe Crystal Cove - PARADISE...I will be back!!!

What a wonderful way to spend your 50th birthday! Our room wasnt quite ready when we arrived,so rather than make us wait, after the wonderful rum punch we were given a free upgrade to a suite! So followed a week of pampering by the most lovely, genuine staff you could ever meet-nothing was to much trouble, and everything was amazing. We had one afternoon of stormy weather,so had to work our way through the cocktail menu-tough job,but we almost managed it.After a much needed nap,we realised we;d missed dinner,so took advantage of room service-yummy!The only problem my husband found was wearing shoes in the evening-his feet had swelled in the heat,so he couldnt get shoes on,so wore his flip-flops,but noone commented on it.The only small critisism I could make is that it was to quiet in the evenings, there was some entertainment on a few evenings, but not all,but this meant we had early nights leading to early mornings to enjoy the fantastic weather to the full.If you want a holiday in paradise-this is it!

In August I went to Crystal Cove with my family to celebrate a birthday. It was my first experience of an all-inclusive hotel and I was more than impressed. All of the staff were extremely friendly and always made you feel welcome and well taken care of. The rooms were always cleaned and beds turned down ready for you when you came back in the evening. The reception staff are a great help if you want to go on any additional trips and will always try and find you a good deal.

There are many locals on the beach (all the beaches are public in Barbados) who will offer you trips including swimming with turtles and jet skiing. I found that sometimes, although nice people, could hassle you a bit. However Dwayne, was nothing but lovely, he ensured myself and my family saw all the sights! He did an amazing Oistins trip on a friday night and showed us a turtle giving birth on the beach at night- something we would not have found on our own. I would defiantely reccommend seeking him out if you go to Crystal Cove.

Arrived at Crystal Cove, Barbados in September, which firstly, I was a little concerned about because its meant to be rainy season but it was STUNNING weather! around 30dgs everyday and blue skies. Had no reason to be worried at all with only one day of rain on the last day which was kinda cool cos it was a big tropical storm which kind of cleared the air. Awesome!
Soon as we arrived at Crystal Cove we were greeted with very kind and friendly staff who instantly gave us cool face flannels and a cocktail. The view when we arrived was breathtaking. Paradise on earth! The stress of everyday life instantly left the building! Room was very nice, and colouful, contempory and stylish. We had a garden view but actually still had an amazing view of the beach. Maids came everyday and had fresh towels.
The two restaurants were both lovely but Drifters was my favourite. Was a quiet time of year to go so managed to get the tables on the beach which are the best. Watch out for the crabs scuttling around your feet tho! I actually thought they were kinda cool. Very authentic! Food was lovely, small starters but just right and lovely mains, different choices every night. All very nicely presented. Most of the time the service was good, they are good at topping your drinks up ,with friendly waitresses constantly pouring drinks, but some nights could be a little slow. they are very laid back!
Beach was beautiful, with regular fresh fruit, drinks and icelollies bought to you. May I reccommend the Strawberry Daquiri! Yum! Stunning clear waters and little fish around so good to take your snorkel. The swimming pools were very tranquil and calming with the waterfalls. The Cave Bar was great! Some of the local guys on the beach are friendly but can hassle u a little to go on the (paid) water sports but most are free! We did take one of the guys Dwayne up on the offer of the jet ski who was very friendly and nice and looked after us. The jet ski was worth it, was a speed rush!
The Sunsets are spectacular! One of the trips id reccommend are to swim with the turtles! Its fantastic. Overall, dont have anything to fault with this hotel other than i wish i could of stayed longer! Would reccommend to anybody! And will defenatly be going back sometime. Thanks Crystal Cove!

We have just returned from a 10 day honeymoon at Crystal Cove. The hotel helped us to organise a limo transfer to and from the airport, which started our holiday in style .... the cold towels, cold water and air con in the limo was very welcome in the heat!

Upon arrival there was a slight delay in getting our room, but a rum punch passed the time. The first room we were allocated (345) was on the third floor of a building which was reached down an alleyway. We weren't impressed but we were quickly moved to another room close to the beach, with garden and sea views.

After that, well what can I say? There are complaints on this site because there wasn't constant food, but who on earth needs constant food? This isn't Spain!

0700 - 1000 - Breakfast was buffet style, with cereals, croissants and pastries, toast, fruit and yogurt, bacon/egg/sausage, omelettes ....... I defy anyone to say they couldn't get enough to eat.

12.30 - 14.00 hrs -Lunch was either in Reflections restaurant or outside at Drifters restaurant, and buffet style. There were even hot dogs, burgers and pizza for those who like that sort of thing.

1630 - 1730 - Afternoon tea. Cakes, sandwiches and scones with tea.

1900 - 2130 - Dinner. Two choices of four-course menu.

Evening meals have to be pre-booked - the earlier mealtimes were popular, so book the evening before.

The accommodation is very clean and comfortable. The three swimming pools are cool and refreshing, I particularly liked the swim-up Cave Bar.

The staff .... I have never been to a hotel where the staff were so pleasant and attentive.

Beach watersports (except jetski) free of charge, need to be booked in advance but there was never too long to wait.

Plentiful sunbeds around the pool and on the beach. Watch out if you choose a sunbed under the trees, there are ants!

Room Tip: Away from the pool area

Just got back from a week in Crystal Cove. Had to say it was a wonderful experience of an all inclusive report having tried several others - more about this later.
The welcome was great, the staff were genuinely superb and friendly, and the place had a very relaxing feel to it. The layout of the grounds and rooms made it seem a whole lot more spacious. Gardens were very well maintained and rooms tastefully decorated and well equipped, although a kettle in the room would not go amiss.
Location on beach was great, lots of sunbeds and service on beach good too. Staffing levels never an issue, so service was often prompt from bars and restaurant.

Food in restaurants was of a high standard, although our only issue is that having visited Barbados 15 times over the last 20 years, we found that a lot of the menu was 'westernised', so did not really appreciate the Greek, Italian or Mexican themes that cropped up.

One of the best things we love most about going to Barbados is the food experience, and the fish which is fantastic (Don't consider us as food snobs!) We often go there and never eat meat for 2 weeks it is that good. So our only disappointment is that the menu did not have as much fish and no real Bajan food. Missed our Flying Fish, Bol-jol and Roti! We did 'break-out' twice to get a 'fish-fix' - went to Mews in Holetown and Bombas beach restaurant in Mullins Bay and had the most fantastic blackened Grouper and Barracuda, so well worth the trip out - recommend you do this, despite having already paid for your meals in the hotel.

Top tip if no airport transfer provided - Airport taxis always there, but vehicle standard can be a mixed affair. Book a private taxi for $80BDS and know what you are getting - paid same price for beat up mini-van going there as a new Toyota LandCruiser coming back - ours was recommended by the Hotel, so thanks Nigel for prompt reliable pick-up!

So, perhaps if you do not like eating fish, are wary of venturing out, and enjoy the bountiful food and drink on tap, this is the perfect place to stay for an all-inclusive experience. Overall, could not fault the place, well recommended unless you want more of a Bajan eating experience.

We have just returned to the UK having had our Wedding at Crystal Cove. We could not have asked for anything more from the outstanding staff who made this very special for us and such a wonderful and memorable experience. The wedding planners are patient understanding and will do everything they can to accommodate your needs and a special thanks to Reah and Lisa for making it a special day.

The rooms are clean modern and contemporary and we were made to feel extra special as we were upgraded upon arrival to an apartment overlooking the beach. The rooms are cleaned to a high standard on a daily basis by friendly staff who always have a smile on their face.

The food at Crystal Cove is excellent quality and cooked to a high standard, in particular our candle lit wedding meal was absolutely superb and memorable, the Lobster was magnificent and In addition our wedding cake was delicious so big thanks to Chontelle and her team.

The only negative I have and the reason I took one star off is that meals are not as readily
available and the choice is not as varied as other all inclusive's I have stayed at previously, the restaurants are at set times and you have to book for evening meal and consequently it can be a scramble to get the earlier bookings.

It may be that we were spoilt before but in Mexico for example there were 3 restaurants and food always available but at Crystal Cove there was only two restaurants and when one was open the other was closed and when open it was only certain times. Also in other all inclusive's waiters would circle the areas asking guests if they would like drinks whereas at Crystal this rarely happened and you will have to walk to the bars which is a pain if you are half way up the beach.

However I must be careful not to get too negative because it was a superb wedding and vacation and we will definately return.

Having visited the Caribbean and Barbados before, I am aware as a tourist that people can be suspicious of the sellers on the beach, however if you come across Dwayne he is friendly helpful and will give you a fair price for excursions Jet Ski's or other trips, you wilI come across people who are unlicensed but I can vouch for Dwayne and was informed by security that he is licensed. Dwayne is a great guy and also took me across to Wendy's bar for my Footie Fix on a Saturday Morning.

Finally for anyone getting Married I would recommend searching the net for photographers hairdressers etc - Crystal cove do recommend companies but we searched and found our own and I would estimate saved around 4 hundred pounds. In particular our photographer - Andrew O'dell (Look him up) was about £200 cheaper his quality is superb and he was extremely friendly and accommodating. We brought Chinese lanterns from the UK for the evening and where others wanted to charge to come back to take photo's he stuck around at no extra cost. He is also sending us a free photo book to the UK .Andrew's photo's are very contemporary and he puts a lot of thought into each picture - fantastic!

Hope this is of help to someone somewhere.
