“Everything we wanted and more - absolutely brilliant.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2011

My now wife and I, together with all of our family and friends took 16 apartments for nearly 2 weeks in May for our wedding. We wanted to keep everyone close together, in great apartments and also within a reasonable cost. Beach View ticked all these boxes and more.

The service from start to finish was exceptional. With a mention for Carrie who we made contact with over a year before and throughout our whole experience was the absolute epitome of great customer service, in all honesty she alone made our experience so much more fun. Whilst there we had a couple of minor issues in the apartment, the bathroom door jammed and an issue with the shower, within 5 minutes of reporting these Robin, the owner was with us and the problems fixed within the next 10 minutes. Brilliant. Honestly, everyone who stayed there have all said to us how amazing it was and that they would all love to go back again, that’s over 45 people!

The apartments are great too - modern, spacious, clean with all amenities you could need. The Swimming Pool was another highlight, big enough not to ever feel crowded and also very well kept. We had maybe 8 children under 10 with us and they loved to Pool which is particularly child friendly with stepped entrance etc.

Location is great too. For restaurants you can hit The Cliff, Scarlett’s, Kariba, Tides, Daphne’s within minutes, and these are brilliant. Or head to Holetown, 2 minutes on a bus and lots more again. You need to head to 2nd street on a Sunday.

We enjoyed Golf, Spa's, Water sports, Beaches, Island tours and much more all within easy striking distance of Beach View.

Overall I would say that Beach View is, Pound for Pound, the best apartments/holiday we have ever had and truly a hidden gem on the west coast of Barbados.

Stayed here for a week in May / June
It's everything the other reviewers have said about it really , we loved the place .

Huge apartment , ours had a nice view over the pool with a well fitted kitchen (smoothie machine , toaster, Coffee machine , Microwave , Dishwasher etc ). If you don't fancy cooking then you can use the supplied take away menus and have it delivered to your door ..
DVD players are region 1 so any guests from the Uk may find their DVD's wont play but to be honest you'll be out enjoying the pool and beach so it's not really an issue

The check In was warm and friendly ,The staff were great they helped us hire a car and book a boat trip ( they suggested Jammin for the boat trip , easily the most fun I've ever had on a boat trip , it started by swimming with turtles and ended with everyone on board dancing a conga around the boat as we came back into port , even our 2 young children joined in)
As we had a late flight they provided a room for us until our evening departure free of charge so we were able to eat and get cleaned up before we left , transfers to and from the airport were included which is another bonus.

The Beach that was just over the road was lovely , the kids enjoyed playing there , loads of fish on the reef just to the left , no problems with leaving stuff on the beach as you swam. Yes the road has a bit of traffic but crossing the road to the beach was never a problem ..and it was handy to jump on a yellow bus and take the 5 minute journey to Holetown for shopping or eating

Was our first time in an apartment over a hotel and it wont be the last based on this experience ...

I recently stayed at Beach View with my partner and was blown away by the friendliness and service at this hotel. The staff are so lovely and the place is so special - and very easy access to the best beaches, turtles, snorkling and wonderful restaurants.

The rum punch is ace and we had our appartment tidied to the highest standards every day.

It really helps to have a kitchen as it gives you the opportunity to eat in when you need to and save money on pre-dinner drinks - plus life would be much easier if kids were with us (though they weren't)

The catamaran trip is a must - ask Carrie all about it!

A real home away from home - thanks everyone!

Room Tip: We were pool side on the ground floor

Lovely location, owner/staff very friendly & helpful with that lovely quality of being there when you need them & seemingly invisible when you don't.

Snack bar a lovely way to enjoy lunch & a beer without having to stray far from the pool.

Beach is great.

This was our second trip to the Caribbean and chose Barbados after St Lucia the previous year. Beach View Apartments ticked all the boxes before we booked and as far as accommodation, they did not disappoint.

First up was the service from the team there. From Robin the owner who was around every day, to Atticus (you are a real star!) the guy who runs 'The Hut', which is open for breakfast and lunch (do not miss the egg and bacon buttie - it is extraordinary!). From the office team to the security guards, everyone was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. They even let us swap rooms for a (free) late checkout as our departure wasn't till late afternoon and the one we were in was not available.

The apartments are absolutely lovely, with plenty of room and brilliant balconies and there's a small welcome pack to get you going when you arrive too. The free internet in the rooms is a real bonus too and was trouble-free, even on my Blackberry!

Downsides were minor, but relevant. There is only air-con in the bedroom and is designed so that it only comes on if there is someone in the room and the door shut. There are ceiling fans in the lounge and the full-service kitchen, but these rooms simply get too hot. I appreciate the reasoning in the eco-friendly world we live in, but this could do with a bit of attention somehow as it seems a bit mealy-mouthed. There are vent slats by the patio doors, but if you leave them open much, little birds get in, seeking food!

One more thing is that each apartment is really a 2 or 3 room. If you book a 1-bed, the second bedroom and the second bathroom (which is off the lounge) of the 2-bed are simply locked. There were times where that second bathroom would have been of use and for only minimal cost to keep open.

DO NOT miss Robin's Thursday cocktail party. You get a free lift there at 6.15 and back at around 7.30. The view is stunning and there is an infinity pool to die for. They have humming birds feeding on their patio. We were asked twice because we were there 2 Thursdays! Note the rum punch is stronger than you think! It is a 10 minute walk from the apartments, so if you plan well ahead, you could book yourself into 'Cariba', which is just across the road and was our favourite restaurant (and much better value than The Cliff, which you pass on your way to Robin's home) and go from Robin's straight there...It's amazing food (around $75 a head, including a half bottle of wine) and set in a chattel house, which is as local as it gets.

The apartments are across the road from the beach and I suppose it didn't occur to us, because we thought it was a small beach road, but in fact it is the main road up the western side of the island and gets quite noisy and the beach across the road is tiny. On St Lucia, we only went on the beach, on Barbados, we only paddled twice. That said Beach View pool and poolside are excellent.

Other positives are the amazing yellow buses that run (very) often up and down the coast. The cost 2 Barbados dollars (or one US dollar) and are a lot of fun (BTW, the driver gets to keep 25c out of each $2 - that's how he earns a living, so the buses can get very crowded). The folks running them can be a bit intimidating, but are fine really. Note - the yellow buses give change, but the blue public buses do not. Note the yellow buses are not called 'reggae' buses for nothing. They are all very different inside with a common streak of music, some very loud!

Even though the beach across from the apartments is quite small, don't be deterred from a bit of snorkeling. I found a harmless Sharptail Eel within 4 feet of the surf!

Apart from having rain - sometimes very heavy - every single day of a 9 night stay at the end April/early May, we did get some sun, have some fun and manage several of Atticus' egg and bacon butties - after all, it was vacation ;)

Great apartment, attentive staff, just need to get bus/taxi to nightlife, but only 10 mins away. If you want to relax, this is the place! You can hear traffic noise, but in no way does it detract. Thoroughly enjoyable stay.
