“Much much better now - others restaurants need to watch out”
Reviewed July 16, 2013 via mobile

We have eaten here in the past and had decided to not here again but for a change we gave it another go.

I am so glad we did - this was one of the best meals we had whilst here.

We had the tuna and it was 'perfect' in every aspect.

Its clear to me that this place is now under new ownership and it shows.

The staff are far more relaxed and the manager Roy was in evidence throughout the evening

It was so good that we booked again for 4 days later.

“An iconic restaurant that's lost the plot”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

Over the years we've been to the Lone Star several times, and have always enjoyed our visits. Not this time. The service is good, but the food disappointing. Small portions, dull salads, nothing distinctive or unusual. And very expensive: overall the bill seemed about 25 to 30 percent more than comparable eateries. Of course the location is wonderful, but if you add in the fact that the chairs are too low so the table's at chin level it's not a great experience any more.

“You will only find one better than this!”
Reviewed July 10, 2013 via mobile

We first came to Lone Star after being restauranted-out on our holiday.

We didnt know what to expect walking through the doors of the art deco once car garage but then walking downstairs to the dining area, our breaths were taken away....we were literally in a different world with the sea lapping at the restaurant's edge.

The service was amazing. The selection of food was impressive, and the prices reasonable for the West Coast.

And so the four of us had two courses each, shared 2 desserts between four and had a bottle of wine...all for £50 per head.

Not the cheapest meal we've had all holiday but well worth the money if you want to spoil yourself one night and can't quite afford "The Tides".

This restaurant is my 2nd favourite on the West Coast....and we are going back tonight, for our last night on the island. That speaks volumes for this amazing place.

“Special night at Lone Star”
Reviewed June 30, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I stayed at The Fairmont which is next door to Lone Star. We kept debating about whether to try Lone star or not. On our last night I said I really wanted to check it out so we did. We were very pleasantly surprised. The food, atmosphere and service were all fantastic. And to make it even better, a turtle crawled up into the beach right beside The Lone Star and dug a hole in preparation to lay its eggs right after we finished dinner. Us, along with alot of other diners watched as she madly dug her hole. Unfortunately she hadn't laid her eggs before we had to leave. But even so, it was a very unique dining experience for us. Our waiter was very informative as to what the turtle's process would be and what is to be expected after the eggs are laid. What a great last night to our trip. We'll DEFINITELY be back to Lone Star on our trip next year. It's such a beachy chic restaurant with great food. Check it out!
