We did this tour on a cruise stop. It was $15 per person. Minimum of 5 people required, so we put the info on our cruise critic board & had other sign up as well. We printed the directions & easily walked to the factory. It was tiny & interesting, all done by the owner. After we walked back to the ship with our chocolate, to keep it from melting & went to the beach for the day. The taxi drivers try to tell you that you will never find it on your own, but with the directions provided (that included pictures) it wasn't even 10 minutes & we arrived early.

The tour was wonderful for myself, my husband and our two children, age 10 years. It was informative, friendly and it captured everyone's interest throughout. Upon our return it was the first thing that my son told his class. The chocolate is delicious!!!

If you are in Barbados and you like chocolate, you MUST see this place! Derrick was great, very knowledgeable and very friendly. We absolutely loved the tour and it was so cool to see how genuine chocolate is made. We were allowed to taste different coco beans and then Derrick walked us through the individual steps of creating chocolate and how the different machines work. It was very thorough and informative. We bought two bars of chocolate and tried to make it last as long as we could, but it was just too tasty!

It's a ten minute walk from the cruise terminal. Don't be put off by the location, it really is an amazing place. I suggest you book online in advance as well. You don't want to miss this!

We visited Barbados onboard Celebrity Equinox and had pre-booked this tour privately after having read the great reviews on here. The information on how to find his premises were spot on and his pictorial guide meant that we were off the ship, out of the port and arrived within 10 - 15 minutes maximum! There were only 6 of us on the tour and what a great few hours it was learning all about the beans, how the chocolate is made and of course, we did get to test both the beans and the chocolate themselves! Derrick the owner is very passionate about the business and will go in to great depth about the machinery and processes involved in how to make the perfect dark chocolate bar and chocolate almonds. It is worth while booking this experience if you want something different to do when in Barbados and at the end, you can buy the chocolate to take home with you, that was the best bit!

We went to Agapey on a cruise stop in Bridgetown. It's a short walk (5-10 minutes) from the cruise terminal. They only allow a limited number of people on the tour, so make sure you book in advance on their website. I received a prompt reply when I made our reservations, along with very detailed walking directions, complete with pictures. The factory is in an industrial area, but as long as you follow the directions, you'll get there just fine.

The tour itself was very informative, led by Derrick, the owner. We started by tasting different sugars and then different cocoa beans while Derrick explained the differences between each variety. He then walked us through the chocolate-making process. The factory is small, so you get an up-close look at each of the machines used in the process. Incredibly informative, and, for a chocoholic like me, fun to learn about. Much better than the Hershey theme-park tours. And of course, the chocolate is delicious. My only complaint--I can't buy it at home!
