My partner and I recently booked the daytime lunch cruise and the sunset cruise with Elegance. Prior to making our booking we did a lot of research on Trip Advisor. We decided we didn't want to party on our trip, we wanted to relax and be treated to an elegant experience and this is exactly what Sarah and the crew of Elegance delivered.
I contacted Sarah months in advance of our arrival in resort and arranged the dates of the cruises that we wanted to do, as once the cruise ships arrive in port I know that getting dates and trips sorted, can be a little problematic. Sarah was brilliant. She responded promptly to my e-mail enquiry, gave me all the information I needed and I proceeded to make my reservation. Sarah asked for a credit card number to secure the booking, payment not being taken until the day we took our trips.
On the day of our trips, a taxi arrived promptly at our hotel to take us down to The Careenage. As stated on the Elegance website, the boat does not take more than 14 passengers. The boat itself is very well kept and Cally, the captain, has rules which must be obeyed and respected re where to spray sun oil and where to smoke.
During our trips the "branded" drinks were kept flowing by Ashley and Ramone. Both guys were knowledgeable about the island and were happy to chat and share this knowledge with us. Soft relaxing music was played through a speaker system.
As the boat only has a small number of passengers you get to know your fellow "sailors" and during the voyage you begin to chat and relax into your day. We met some lovely people, who again added to our day.
The boat stopped for a snorkelling trip to look at corals and a couple of wrecks before going on to another spot to look at the turtles being fed. Flippers, life jackets, snorkels and masks are provided by Elegance. Whilst in the water, Ashley and Ramone are really caring about anyone who has a limited swimming ability or who is nervous of the water. The crew wanted everyone to enjoy the experience of what the waters of Barbados had to offer. Don't be afraid, get in the water and do it!
Once the snorkelling was out of the way, it was back on board for a leisurely lunch outside Sandy Lane. Lunch was delicious and plentiful. Again the branded drinks flowed, along with Banks's and a really nice wine. On the lunchtime cruise we were given the opportunity to again enter the water for a swim, which a few of us did. Floating in the turquoise crystal waters outside Sandy Lane with a drink in hand couldn't get much better.
During our Sunset Cruise I suffered from a violent migrane. whilst part way through our trip. Cally, Ashley and Ramone were very caring and went out of their way to make sure I was ok. Thank you guys. I must admit, I was really glad to see The Careenage that night.
Again the taxi to get us back to our hotel was waiting.
Overall, we had a fabulous couple of trips with Elegance. We were so glad that we decided to book with them as the whole experience was brilliant. Cannot recommend them enough. The trip may have been a few dollars more than the big party boats out there, but for a middle aged couple who wanted to be pampered for a couple of hours, Elegance ticked the boxes.
Out of the two trips, we both agree that we enjoyed the sunset one the most. Both trips offered the same stops for snorkelling. However, when we arrived with the turtles there was only a small number of boats around, so it wasn't such a "scrum" in the water. I think the romance of watching the sun come down and close the day is just magical. We have some fantastic photo's and along with the memories ..........
