Description: The restaurant initially began as a wholesale distributor for the island's hotels and restaurants. Cooked takeaway service was added; along with a friendly free beer while you wait. Shortly after that the health inspector demanded we go the whole way or "wholesale only". This was around 1998. Long time friend and fellow musician with the local VSOP Jazz band "Stu Jenkins" became the resident artist (designer) and we named the up coming restaurant "LOBSTER ALIVE and all that Jazz". We felt our way; with many of the usual restaurant mistakes. But it seems now, we have scored quite well with international critics, restaurant guide books; and our many repeat customers.

As a jazz lover we booked Lobster Alive on Thursday the 15th of November only to be told as we arrived that it is only on Tuesdays and Sundays. In New York Times distributed in Sandy Lane Hotel it states that jazz is on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. We were very disappointed. The Lobster Thermidore was fine but it did not compensate for the disappointment.
Quite expensive.

A tiny little shack on Carlisle Bay. You almost feel like you've found a little secret when you're eating there. Pretty much sitting on the beach to eat. Fab lobster!

Situated on the edge of this beautiful beach with a stunning outlook across the Golden sand is Lobster Alive (and all that jazz), it doesnt look much but trust me this is the ultimate in chabby chic. If lobster is your "bag" this is the venue. I have eaten here several times and with no complaints, yes service can be slow but who cares your on holiday, frankly the longer the better. Hats off to the owner its a great concept. We are back late November and I can guarantee a pleasant visit.

Sunday lunch on the beach at Lobster Alive is a fantastic experience. We both chose the bisque and Thermidor, at Bds$155 expensive but mouth-watering, served with fries and salad. It is as well to ask for wine on arrival to give it a chance to chill while you enjoy a bottle or two of Banks beer. Service can be slow when they're busy but on this occasion was spot on. And with the jazz band playing in the background until 4pm and plenty of activity to watch on the beach, what's the hurry anyway?
