Description: The restaurant initially began as a wholesale distributor for the island's hotels and restaurants. Cooked takeaway service was added; along with a friendly free beer while you wait. Shortly after that the health inspector demanded we go the whole way or "wholesale only". This was around 1998. Long time friend and fellow musician with the local VSOP Jazz band "Stu Jenkins" became the resident artist (designer) and we named the up coming restaurant "LOBSTER ALIVE and all that Jazz". We felt our way; with many of the usual restaurant mistakes. But it seems now, we have scored quite well with international critics, restaurant guide books; and our many repeat customers.

“Great food and great music by the sea”
Reviewed July 1, 2012

Ideally placed on the beach at Carlisle Bay, Lobster Alive serves immaculately prepared seafood in an intimate relaxed setting with much less pretention than say The Cliff or Daphné's. A real bonus is one of the few remaining live jazz bands, which completes an utterly enchanting experience. The wine list is also extensive and reasonably priced, again unlike some of the more 'upmarket' fine dining experiences, where triple markup pricing seems de rigeur these days.

“Fabulous lobster, expensive”
Reviewed June 29, 2012 via mobile

The lobster was absolutley fabulous but pretty expensive. Restaurant was a bit scruffy inside but we had a table outside right on the beach which was lovely. Good service

“Great food, great setting, great jazz - just don't walk there!”
Reviewed June 6, 2012

After risking our lives to eat at Lobster alive, I’m glad to say it was worth it! We took a bus to Bridgetown thinking we could find our way there, but we were let off in the middle of nowhere and had to walk through the red light district to get to the restaurants. Luckily a security guard took pity on us and escorted us most of the way there! I have honestly never been so scared in my life, as we were being looked at like we were walking pound signs and nothing else. Anyway once we got there and settled our nerves with a bottle of vino, all was soon forgotten about the ordeal to get there. We found this place on trip advisor where some said portions were huge and prices high – ignore both of these comments. We skipped starters thinking this and could have done with them in the end as the lobsters are not that big at all! Definitely a main sized portion once you have fiddled around with it so much. Therefore I recommend going for the full 3 courses if you want to leave nicely full! Obviously we had lobster, sharing the biggest one between 2 as it suggests with wine and coffees, which only came to about £30 each so hardly breaking the bank for freshly cooked, meaty lobster. Garlic butter and fries are exceptional too. Jazz in the lobster alive shack on a moonlit beach courtesy of Lord Jenkins and the crew is really an amazing experience and I would highly recommend this place – just make sure you get a taxi there!

“Nice enough if a bit basic”
Reviewed June 2, 2012

Having only had lobster a couple of times in my life I was looking forward to this meal immensely and the food was good if not spectacular. The lobster was well cooked, tender and obviously fresh as my wife and father in law picked them live from a tank. It did what it said on the tin but was quite expensive, about 400 bajun. The wine was good in funky chiller bags you could buy but I think the location was a bit wasted in the evening when you could not see the white sands and turquoise sea of Carlisle Bay.
