Better late than never, this review is from December 2012. Chose this hotel because it's small, all inclusive and the amazing reviews.
Does it live up to praise, yes it does and more!....Management always there to listen and to ensure you have all you want and need, well done Thora.
Reception service, absolutely top of the class, service with a capital S.
Waiting staff, so friendly and thoughtful they want you to be happy and always have a lovely genuine greeting for you.
The restaurant is really good, it's very well presented and it feels special. Fabulous breakfast my favourite, pancakes everyday mmmmm, lunch, tasty burgers and hotdogs toasted sandwiches, fries all really good. Dinner is so civilised at the Island Inn with candles and white tablecloths so much nicer than other places we have been which were more like glorified canteens!!! Lovely wine, red or white and your glasses filled without you having to ask.
The bar, I remember looking at the cocktail list and asking the barman which ones were included in the all inclusive package, his answer, all of them!! Have stayed at some nice hotels and this was the first time every drink on the list was included, what a refreshing change.....tried working my way through the list but couldn't reach the end, lovely fruit smoothies, everything you could want really.
The rooms, spacious, classy accessories and kept nice and clean, any problems, a word in someones ear and it's done! apart from the noisy monkeys.....
Not a place for children, it's a place which attracts like minded people who enjoy relaxing and a chat if you want or not, it's up to you. Bar closes at 11pm so you more or less know you aren't going to be disturbed by 'other types' of holiday makers!
Would we return, yes we would and we are in just under three weeks we will be there, sooooooooooo looking forward to it. So, if you like quiet, beautiful surroundings and good food this is the place for you.
See you soon
Shaun and Linda

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely, just choose from your budget, there is choice for every taste!

My wife and I have just spent thirteen nights at this hotel and have to say that we have a very mixed review.
Firstly we had a wonderful relaxing holiday and we met some great people who were also staying in this hotel. Because the hotel is small and the public areas are compact you tend to get easily acquainted with the other guests, especially when the 24 room hotel is only half full.

Food was OK, sometimes quite basic, especially starters which lacked in imagination and appeared as low budget.
Drinks were OK, not many premium brands and the bar stock looked quite sparse. Nevertheless out of all the bar staff Jerry used his skills to create some excellent cocktails and in the process created and made up for the otherwise lacking entertainment.
As for the Staff, we felt it was a bit of a 'mixed bag' several were fine, polite and cheerful. On the other hand several seemed moody and disinterested in their jobs, just going through the motions and should not be working in the hospitality industry.

Good location, very nearby beach is excellent.

The hotel has some 'rough edges'. We had no hot water for three days and despite telling reception on three occasions we ended up demanding to speak to the manager before something finally got sorted out. Then similarly, housekeeping staff left our bedroom door open on three occasions (found it open late afternoon when we returned to our room). It had obviously bee open (ajar) most of the day. Again we reported this twice and on the third occasion the manager apologised, we had lengthy discussions about hotel processes and procedures, and yet 'blow me down' the next day it was left open again.
We had a crack in our bath the we know the previous occupants reported and yet nothing had been done.
Towels were very often thread bare, holes in the shower tiles, etc.
On saying all of this the beds were comfortable and clean and the cleaning of the rooms was very adequate.

As you can see this is a very review. I would probably not stay at this hotel again but I would not put people off from staying here because if you look past the negatives, the hotel does engender a friendly atmosphere and good overall holiday experience.

The Island Inn is an exerlent small hotel close to the centre of Bridgtown that has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. it is across the road from the beach and near the Grarisson Savanner race course. The food is first class and the staff very friendly .

This hotel is perfect for a getaway, if you want entertainment and activities, children's club then this is not for you. The hotel is based in an old army rum store, packed full of history you can see from the design of the buildings. Entering the reception area you can see straight through to the bar area and the open courtyard. We were met with a friendly smile and taken through the formalities of what was on offer to us, meals, bar and facilities. Earl showed us to our room, in the courtyard area, a very large room, and decent sized bathroom. The shelf area could be larger for all our toiletries but we managed, we also had to use a facecloth for a soap dish, it's a shame as the washbasin was very modern design to not just finish it off with a couple of extra storage shelves. I do agree it was set very low for most people, the shower head also is set fixed low, but was manageable. Soap, shampoo and conditioner is supplied but not shower gel, luckily I always travel with my own. The bedroom itself was a decent size, plenty of storage here and a safe in the wardrobe ensured you could lock your valuables away with a digital code you pick for yourself. The air-conditioning unit is one of the quietest I have ever experienced, it was so quiet that in the middle of the night we didn't notice it was switching off, we heard other guests complain about this but after a bit of fiddling with the controls we were able to keep it on longer but it still needed attention in the early hours. A ceiling fan would save any need to keep a close eye on it through the night. When it worked it kept the room quite cold.
The restaurant served buffet breakfast, usual fare and eggs cooked to order if you didn't want scrambled you just needed to ask, although tea and coffee facilities are in the bedroom, this was available 24 hours from a table in the restaurant. All the staff were very helpful, nothing a bother. Lunch was waitress served most days, buffet on 2 days while were there, and dinner was waitress served except Wednesday's manager cocktail party where it was a bbq. The hotel menus were not repeated while we were there, some very nice fish dishes along with a meat and vegetarian option always on offer. No complaints from us. They like to know if you are staying for lunch and dinner, which is not a problem it just makes sense as there are so few rooms to know how many to cater for, even when it was quiet on the Friday night a full menu was available.
The bar is small, but then again so is the hotel, all the bar staff very able to mix most cocktails asked for, I have to make a special mention for Michael who on my last day was able to perfect an excellent bloody mary after finally being able to obtain all the ingredients.
The hotel has a small pool area, but so close to the beach we spent every day there. Beach umbrellas and chairs can be rented from reception, we took an umbrella each day as there is no natural shade at the beach. The sea was azure blue, very calm and easily walked into Bridgetown. Early morning you were joined by the racehorses from the Garrison, a short walk away, we were lucky to be able to go as it was end of season while we were there. A great day out, with great fun had by all. the local buses stop on the main road regularly into the centre or further down the coast, we used the buses to go to the Oistins fish fry on the Friday night, the hotel staff knew we were going and gave us some good advice and were interested to hear what we thought when we got back.
If you want a quiet time, plenty of good food and friendly service then stay here, you can mix with other guests if you feel like it or keep to yourself whatever you want its perfect.

We have just returned following a 7 night stay in September. The hotel is in a nice position with the gorgeous beach only a minutes walk away. If you get up early, head for the beach and see the local racehorses being taken for a swim in the sea which is an amazing experience. The staff at the hotel all work hard to ensure your stay is as enjoyable as can be. Jerry the barman is a character and added to our enjoyment with his entertaining stories and even more entertaining cocktails!, with the hotel being quite small, it's a great place to meet people and everybody got on brilliantly during our stay (we met some lovely people Cally, Neil, Carol, Chris, Nev and Steve to mention just a few).Food was good and on the odd occasion where there wasn't something on the menu that my wife liked, the chef offered to cook her a steak or chicken which was a lovely gesture. The pool was spotlessly clean as was our room which was cleaned daily. I would highly recommend the catamaran trip to swim with the sea turtles. We had a fantastic time, food and an open bar included, we booked through Tiami at the hotel with the whole trip only costing about £60 per person which was superb value (we would have done the same trip again if we were there for another week) If you get chance, try and visit Crane beach, we took a the local yellow bus which picks up just near the hotel and drops you just near the beach and only costs around 70p per person. The beach itself is gorgeous although the sea at Crane there is a bit on the rough side compared to the sea near our hotel. Overall, a fantastic stay!

We have just returned home after spending 14 days at the Island hotel. The hotel was small and personal and like the previous reviews, we thought the food was fantastic. We have stayed at other hotels previously on an all inclusive basis but this was the by far the best varied menu we have experienced. Our room was standard, nothing special but clean. The staff very friendly and pleasant, Sharon was so helpful in organising our social calendar! Jerry's cocktails were not for the faint hearted but so much fun to try! On the downside, there were, on occasions, a skeleton staff, especially in the evenings which could mean slow service at times. I have the greatest respect for Cain and Michael who were left alone to manage serving a full restaurant their evening meal and cover serving behind the bar with no other assistance, still managing to keep cool and sharing jokes with their customers. The entertainment was limited, 3 nights per week, including the managers party, which was disappointing, bit of a bbq and a rum punch and that was it! Mosquitos ate some of us alive and while the hotel cannot be responsible for their existence, there were no evidence of any sprays etc being used by the staff to eradicate the pests. Taking everything into consideration, we did have a fantastic time and made good friends. If you are looking for a relaxing quiet holiday with good food and friendly people I would recommend this hotel.
