Went with husband and toddler aged 2. Soon into our stay I was very sorry that I didn't choose somewhere else. Bottom line: if you are elderly and British, you will probably be treated as a paying guest with common courtesy. However, for the rest of us, we were treated with contempt and disdain by the server/wait staff. By day 4, we asked the waitress if we had done something to offend her. She said no and was marginally nice after. (You will notice that most positive reviews are written by older Brits)

We arrived from Toronto hot and tired at 4:30pm on Saturday and were told that no one is here to carry our luggage. Bad first impression. Then the receptionist found a worker who she said she thought had gone home.

Room was very small but bathroom refurbished (poor workmanship though for those who notice). They never changed the bedsheets in the 7 nights. However, the housekeeping ladies were most kind and affable. Thank God the room is air conditioned. Nowhere else in the hotel is; dining has no a/c option and no breeze, useless ceiling fans. The reception and lounge area for reading/computer/wifi has NO a/c or fans and the air is hot and stagnant. It was miserable to try to enjoy that area because of it. Of course, Madam Receptionist always had a standing large fan directed at her only.

The pool is tiny and is crowded if more than 4 people get in at the same time. Same with the lounge chairs, you are almost sitting in someone's lap or in their room due to the proximity and limited space by the pool. The hotel brochure picture looks nicer than it is. Tough to get new beach towels so you don't have to use the same sopping wet ones. Beach is nice and close but you must walk through 50 feet of dingy parking lot. (not a big deal for most) No beach chairs or umbrellas, no shade.

The rude service was offensive and marred our vacation for the worse. We were the only ones to complain. They are incompetent in taking table orders and should stick to the buffet style. The women Cyrilene and Jeannette in the dining room treated us like dirt. Others saw it too and we were shocked. Two young servers Akira and Jason were exceptionally nice compared to the others.

They will make breakfast to order for only certain guests. We weren't them. Once I asked for pancakes and they took 45 mins w/ no apology but in the interim served people arriving for breakfast after us what they ordered!! I am so sorry and sad that we wasted our precious time and efforts there.

The reception/lounge is steaming hot all day and evening. So wifi was not possible b/c that's where they have it. It was so miserable that only the air conditioned room was an option.

Room Tip: Please, there are so few anyway.

We had a 2 week stay in September this year. Met some lovely people. Staff couldn't be more freindly & helpful if they tried. Room just right for what we needed & very clean. Miss Browne was the perfect manager - mixed with guests & staff alike. Would love to go back. Picnic lunches big enough for an elephant to eat. We hired a car so saw lots of the island.

My husband and I have just returned from a 10 day stay at this little gem. We stayed in room 12 which overlooked the gardens and it was amazing. Lovely large room, a very big bed and lots of space. Separate dressing room with lots of hangers and shelves for both of us. Also had a digital safe which you set with your own number. Very handy as we hate have to carry our cash and passports around with us all day. Daily maid service, towels changed every day but sometimes a hit or miss whether you got the required amount back each day, but there was never a problem if they were not there..... ask for them and they appeared. Hotel also provided beach towels for you to take with you which I have never had from any other hotel I have stayed in. Basically, you got what you paid for and we were delighted with what we got.
The meals were more that adequate,....... choice of fresh fruit, yogurts, cold meat, cheese, or there was bacon, sausages, beans, sometimes, diced fried potatoes, scrambled eggs or if you wated them cooked in another way this was not a problem. Lunch was never a option for us as we were still full up from breakfast to bother with any, but lots of others ate lunch. Afternoon tea............what can I say........this quaint custom still reigns supreme here with scones, dainty triangle sandwiches (crusts off) and a choice of cakes. We did partake quite a few times and it was lovely and kept us going until dinner. No complaints about dinner either, not sure why there was complaints of food being repetitive, there was always a choice and if you didn't like what was on the menu- just ask for something else and the kitchen would get it for you if possible.

Thora Brown the manageress was a fantastic hostess - always making sure we were being looked after and could not do enough for her guests. The staff were very friendly ad helpful and were happy to chat but were not intrusive. Do take earplugs for those pesky little tree frogs who took great delight in chirping from sunset to sunrise. Go onto You Tube and type in tree frogs from Barbados and listen to them!!

As said by others, this is a small quiet hotel so if you are looking for some nightlife here then this hotel is not for you. Everyone staying there were very friendly and there was entertainment provided on a few occasions. The pool was very popular but I must admit we did not use it.
I would certainly go back again.

We stayed here for the first part of our honeymoon, when we arrived we were given a standard garden view room (4) which was nice but due to an adjoining room (the only one in the hotel) was quite noisy especially when we had a business traveller arrive next door who kept us awake all night talking on his phone,it was like he was in our room.I got so frustrated that I went to reception who contacted management who within 10mins moved us to a courtyard room (9)which was lovely nice and quiet .The food was of a good standard and it was nice to have a menu and waitress service although choice was limited. The managers cocktail party is a must tasty barbecue chicken & ribs. The bar staff were friendly and the hotel is ideal if you like meeting people as we did.The hotel staff are also very friendly and could'nt do more to please you they work very hard.Watch out for the monkeys!!!

Room Tip: Avoid room 4

My wife and I stayed at the Island Inn in August, 2012. This place is my cup of tea. It's small, quiet and relaxing. There was a wide range of folks who stay here, 20's through 70's. As has already been said, the food choices for breakfast can get a little repetitive especially if you are spending more than a week.

For dinner you get two choices of entrees, fish and meat, which was plenty of variety for me. I thought food presentation was always well done and I never went away hungry.

Bottom line, if you are someone who wants to party, likes all-you-can-eat buffets, and wants park yourself in front of a swim-up bar all day...this place is not for you.

If you like peace and quiet, great personal service, clean rooms, and chatting with guests from different nations...I believe you will like the Island Inn.

Just returned from a 2wk holiday at the Island Inn. It's very nice and quite if that's what your looking for, there only 24 rooms so even if the hotel is full its still nice to know everyone and chat over meals. Talking of meals it's about the only thing that lets this place down a bit, it's good quality but the choice is very limited and you only get two mains to choose from i.e. fish and beef or fish and lamb or what about fish and fish!! Now I like fish but its a bit repetitive every night.
The room we had slept 4 but there's was only 3 of us and it was really spacious inside and newly decorated, we looked out onto the courtyard which meant we had the curtains closed most of the day or everyone could see in. The air con is amazing, the quietest I've ever encountered which was really welcome as the weather was unseasonably hot. At night a load of tiny tiny frogs come out but boy do they sing loud, starting at 6 till 6.
I would love to go back to the Island Inn one day soon as it was chilled out and exactly my cup of tea :)

Room Tip: Any room you get will be good as they all overlook either the pool, garden or courtyard
