“Carribean Charm at the Island Inn”
Reviewed March 4, 2008

I went with my husband in February and this was exactly the holiday we were looking for. The hotel oozed Caribbean charm and the staff were really friendly. The Island Inn is a small hotel but we noticed several of our fellow guests had been before, which says a lot. We stayed on all inclusive and the meals were delicious.

The location was superb, right on Carlisle Bay and you can get a cab or hop on the local bus (now that’s an experience) to get into Bridgetown for shopping etc,.

The local rep from nextescape.co.uk came to the hotel and showed us a list of excursions. We did take a trip to swim with turtles which was a great experience but other than that, we got lazy at the Island Inn and enjoyed the hospitality. We will definitely go back.

Just returned from a wonderfull vacation at Island Inn, can't say enough about the fabulous staff, the delicious food and great surroundings.
Had a picnic lunch (just like Mom used to make!) the beach is one of the best on the Island, swam with the turltes.
Tried to find something "wrong" with this piece of paradise and came up empty handed, time after time!
Only one word of advice .......go!

My husband,I and two friends have just returned from a one week stay.

The hotel is quant and quite rustic, which I found very nice. The food was excellent. As we received our drinks included in the package, I did find the alcohol to be watered down, I drank Vodka and coke and there seems to be no real strength in them at all. I would rather pay a premuim to have decent vodka. I stayed in room 6, this was quite a large room with a huge bed, very comfy. The monkeys used to wake us up by shaking the fruit from the tree directly onto our room roof.

As the hotel is small all other guests talked to each other which was nice.

The staff were very good, a very nice holiday, we would return there.

  • Liked — Bed was really comfy.
  • Disliked — There no other real bars etc in the surrounding area.

As other reviews say the Island Inn is a small, friendly hotel. The rooms are large, clean and airy. The bathrooms could do with a refurb but everything works and is spotless. What makes the hotel special are the staff. Without exception they are friendly and helpful and seem to enjoy their work.

Although the hotel is all inclusive most meals were waiter service and although there is a limited menu the food was well cooked and good. It also served typical Bajan style dishes, which we enjoyed. In fact the curry lamb at the hotel was better than the one we had at the Brown Sugar restaurant.

The hotel is not on the beach but is less than a two minute stroll to lovely Pebbles Beach. I think this is one of the nicest beaches on the Island. The sea there was very calm and you often saw the turtles swimming past. There were no beach vendors and the beach was almost deserted except on Sundays when the locals came for picnics.

I would recommend this hotel for people who like a quiet relaxing environment without any frills.

We have had to buy a computer on our return home just to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. it really was a truelly amazing holiday, as i,m new to computers PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read my friends report, we are one of the couples that met in that fantastic hotel and we are definatley going back same time next year to meet up with some of the lovliest people we have ever encountered on our many travels. The guy,s who look after you at the island inn are unique in this day and age, the holidayers like us were there to relax, enjoy, and recover from what had been a very tough year for us all in one way or another, now we know what ever stresses or strains this year brings it matters not at all because come DEC 08 we will be flying back to HEAVEN, If i have one regret it has to be that MICHEAL was a faster runner than me and he got out of dancing with a very happy ,slightly, drunk new years reveller. MICHEAL, I,M IN TRAINING. you have been warned.

We loved The Island Inn . We are going back this year for the 3rd time. We are going in Feburary for my husbands 50th birthday .The staff made the holiday nothing to much trouble . We could not get in 2004 went to Barbardos beach club and visited Island Inn , Doris went out of her way to rub my friends leg with Aloe Vera to heal her burns. Not sun burn but hot coffee thrown over her by air line staff Can't wait to see them all again .

We stayed at the Island Inn for 7 nights from 22nd to 29th December 2007. The taxi from the airport cost US$20 (BDS$40) and took around 15 minutes.

The hotel is excellent! We had a throughly enjoyable stay here and all the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast (7am to 9am) and lunch (12pm to 2pm) are both buffet style with plenty of choice while Dinner (7pm to 9pm) is A la Carte with a choice of starters, mains and desserts. The food is great and are good portions. The bar is open from 8am until 11pm - make sure you try the rum punch, but beware, they're pretty toxic! ;o)

The rooms are large and spacious. We were in room 2 which is on the back of the hotel facing the main road. Noise was not a problem. I think this side of the hotel (rooms 2 to 5) are probably the best location.

While the hotel is not a beach front property, it is only around 100m to the beach (Pebbles Beach). There is no access to Carlisle Bay or the beach in front of the Hilton from Pebbles Beach so it's nice and quiet. There are no loungers or umbrellas on the beach except in front of the Barbaods Beach Club but they didn't seem to mind people using them. There is a diving shop o n the beach offering diving and snorkelling tours as well as selling snorkelling equipment. We did the Turtle and Shipwreck snorkel trip with "Barbados Blue" at the Hilton (a 3 min walk from the hotel) which was great (USD$50 pp).

The hotel is in an excellent location for visiting the island. Bridgetown was a 20/25 min stroll along the beach or around USD$8. The Barbados museum and Garrison Savannah Racetrack are both within a 5/10 min walk while Oistins was a 20 min drive away (USD$20).

We would definately return to this hotel if we ever go back to Barbados and would highly recommend this to anyone!
