For the view of the ocean, this is the prettiest restaurant we ate at during our week in Bermuda.
For appetizers, DH loved his oysters rockefeller, and we went back to this restaurant a second time just for him to get them again! I enjoyed the hummus & tabouleh, but the baby spinach salad was just okay and the crab cake blt did not have much flavor. For main courses I had the scallops wrapped in bacon which was surprisingly bland and the grilled tuna which I requested blackened was also a bit bland although the lemon butter sauce was very nice. DH enjoyed his Grilled South Shore seafood platter; the roasted chicken dish was a little bland.
Gluten-Free Review: the Fairmont Southampton makes their own gluten free bread--it comes out as sliced bread (not dinner rolls), but it was quite good and the gf member of our party enjoyed it. Gluten free dishes are designated with a "G" on the main menu. Their cocktail sauce is not gluten-free, so he was given a Marie Rose sauce with his shrimp cocktail which was different and he liked it. The second time we went back he requested the mussels without the garlic bread and our waiter ensured that his came with gf bread toasted on top of it! Many of the fish dishes were gf as well as the NY Strip and the roasted chicken. The Old Bay Fries were not gluten-free, but the garlic mashed potatoes were gf and they were silky and delicious.
This was my favorite restaurant for location overlooking the private beach with a gorgeous view of the sunset; friendly staff always make the experience more enjoyable; it was so nice to be able to hop on a shuttle from our hotel and be at the restaurant in minutes--no expensive taxi ride! Unfortunately, the food was inconsistent. But more importantly, the ability to order gluten-free without the stress, to have the gluten free designation right on the menu and have gf bread delivered to the table--this is always a huge plus.
