“I love Pompano!”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

We have stayed in Bermuda on different occasions, and this was by far the best place we have stayed! The owners and managers made a point to talk to you everyday, the staff is incredible (friendly, accommodating every need), the location is breathtaking and the food was outstanding! Bermuda, in general, is not a kid-friendly place (no water parks, theme-base activities, and transportation with little ones can be tough), but the Pompano is the best place to stay if you have little kids - they have a great pool and the beach is perfect for small children. My kids loved the place (Shirley Temples over-floweth)! Xuemeic stated it correctly - it has a B&B feel to it. I would recommend this place to everyone!

We recently returned to Pompano Beach Club for a late May stay. The weather was wonderful....temps in the 70's and water temperatures to match. Yes, there were many people on the beach and in the water.
We go back to Pompano whenever we travel to Bermuda. The Lambs and their carefully chosen staff always insure a great vacation experience. This visit our plane was delayed 11 hours and when we arrived after 11:00 PM the staff had put aside a small meal for us. What a nice surprise!
The recent renovations to the lobby area are really beautiful...updated but it still feels like the Bermuda we first came to love 43 years ago.
We also enjoy the the the food and the variety of entertainment in the lounge.
Looking forward to our next trip.

My wife and I just returned from a wonderful four night stay at the Pompano Beach Club. The resort is well maintained, I think all rooms have a waterview, a nice beach with a large swim area well protected by a reef and two great restaurants. If you love sunsets Pompano has one of the best views on the island. The people are friendly, attentive and genuine. Tom and Larry Lamb the owners stay very involved which makes the whole thing work.

Breakfast and dinner were included as part of our package. Pompano has reciprical dinner exchanges with The Reefs and Cambridge Beaches. Our dinner and experience at the Reefs was great. Can't say the same about Cambridge Beaches. Dinner was not good, resort was "stuffy", and drinks were terrible and overpriced. A rum drink at Pompano will cost you $7 to $8. Same drink at Cambridge Beaches sets you back $13.25. The music, although the singers were fine, almost put us to sleep. Couples celebrating their anniversary would request their favorite dance but never get up and dance.

I'm sure Cambridge Beaches is a beautiful resorts. The taxi drivers will tell you it is in need of renovations. I use Cambridge Beaches to highlight my Title about Pompano "Luxury and Casual". At Cambridge Beaches, you'll find no children. Minimum age 18. So you'll get peace and quiet but it seemed like it was total isolation. At Pompano, you'll get a mixture of couples and families. The guest seemed more engaging and friendly. We met a nice couple from Canada on vacation with their five kids (15 being the youngest). A couple of other couples from Massachusetts. Dinners were delicious, beautiful views and having children around never caused a problem for the couples. There were two restaurants one that required reservations which was typically used by couples or families with older kids and one that did not.

This was our first trip back to Bermuda in over ten years. We would definitely stay at the Pompano Beach Club again with or with our grown children.

From the time we made reservations, we were treated like honored guests. All of our questions and requests were answered and honored. When we arrived we were given the exact room we had requested. Our room was clean, modern, and luxurious. The view was a breath-taking ocean view. It was cleaned twice a day and had turn-down service. complete with a chocolate on the pillow, every night. Our meals we fabulous, and fresh. We had a made to order breakfast and a complete 5 course dinner, all inclusive. The staff were happy to answer all questions and meet our requests. The beach was spectacular and very private. Overall it was a relaxing, wonderful experience we will never forget. We are even planning on visiting again in August and November. We can't wait!!! Five stars are given from us.

A lot of Bermuda hotels are stuffy and pretentious. This is not one of them.
A lot of Bermuda hotels are impersonal. This is not one of them.
A lot of Bermuda hotels are crammed with tourists. This is not one of them.
A lot of Bermuda hotels are not the Pompano Beach Club!

If you seek a truly wonderful escape -- you must choose Pompano. The staff are exceptional, from the experienced managers and seasoned barkeepers to the impeccable waitstaff and the resort's gems: the student interns. All dedicate themselves to providing guests with a personal, wonderful experience.

It is true that there are some areas of the facility that could use some updating -- if you require every inch newly built and every thumbnail perfectly gleaming Pompano might not be your place. But if you desire a home away from home with ...

* great food
* great service
* a private beach
* an enormous sandbar
* glorious sunsets
* fair prices
* spacious rooms
* quality snorkeling and watersports
* spa, game room, tennis, pool, hot tubs ...

... then Pompano is for you. If you're a couple seeking a romantic respite, a family in search of adventure or group celebrating you absolutely can do no better than Pompano Beach Club.

[Footnotes: 1) No ties or jacket required. 2) CEO transport is the way to get there $30 r/t p/p. 3) Definitely get the MAP to include breakfast and dinner. 4) Swimming is permitted 24/7; a midnight dip is strongly encouraged.]

Husband and I stayed at Pompano for five days. This was our first trip to Bermuda. The hotel service was fantastic, warm and friendly staff everywhere. The owners run more of what feels like a bed and breakfast than a hotel. They personally drive you to the docks or local markets at request and apparently are available 24/7 for any issues that come up.

The food at both restaurants was fantastic. We were there for the Monday grill night which was a treat, kind of a Bermudan "New England clam bake" experience. The Pompano also offered entertainment at night with live music and options to go sailing and or on snorkel cruises with local captains (again the staff were available to help with transportation which is important in a country where visitors are not allowed to rent cars at all).

The best part of the stay was the beautiful view from the rooms and the private beach off the resort with calm warm and peaceful waters and great snorkeling in the reef ringing the large shallow waters. There were something like 5 hot tubs and a pool but most of the time we were on the beach and swimming. They have amenities such as paddleboard, kayak, etc on site as well to further enjoy the water.

The facilities don't hold a lot of people so the beach was nice and open. We went to Horseshoe bay at one point during the trip and the amount of people from two cruise ships on that beach reminded me of waikiki beach and not in a good way. There was no way to enjoy that beach because of the overcrowding so was happy there was a nice one we could walk to from our room.

The only complaint I have about the Pompano is that the rooms could perhaps use a little updating. Really just the curtains and the carpet. Any tropical place probably could do without carpet which stains very easily (tile, or something like bamboo flooring etc would probably be more practical and easy to maintain).

Otherwise, this was a treasure and would definitely recommend it, 4.5 stars!

We visited the Pompano Beach club with another couple to attend the mixed doubles golf tournament in April 2013. We arrived in the rain but was helped to our rooms by the Nephew of the Lamb Brothers. We went to the bar where "Bubbles" the DJ was playing great music with a video on a big screen of the group/singer. We had a fab night and couldn't believe what fun we had dancing. Melvin the barman was a gentleman and served us all week.
When the reviews say the food is good you have to eat and experience it to believe it. It was like eating in a Michelin star restaurant every night. The views were awesome and the service great. We met Tom Lamb the next morning. He was so helpful and always on hand to give advice or run us about. Everything is thought of. We went fishing several times and my partner caught a Pompano fish. Everyone was so pleased. The only slight criticism is that the downstairs pool/lunch area was not very inviting when it was cold and raining. It looked tired and was draughty.
The golf was good although the organiser, Alex was not as attentive as he should have been, in our view. The first day 5 couples scores were wrong and this trend of inaccuracies continued. The organisers were only at the start on 1 day. Another day the cards given out were for the wrong course. This is no reflection on the hotel or staff and when Tom became aware of this he contacted the organisers immediately.immediately
The island is safe and the airport very organised. It is a little pricey but that is compensated by the safe area, wonderful people and beautiful views.
