“Excellent Views - Repairs Long Finished”
Reviewed October 22, 2008

Gibbs Hill Lighthouse is certainly through whatever repairs have been made, and it's a great way to see Bermuda. (Again, get off the bus by the Henry VIII restaurant, and talk a stroll up) .

It's now 2.50 to climb the lighthouse, a bargain by any standard in Bermuda, and gives a terrific panoramic view of Bermuda and the open ocean.

You can go outside at the top now, and walk the whole way around the open walkway, smell the breeze, and get a little vertigo.

It's a better thing to do on your way to the beaches in the morning, as you dont want to be climbing the hill to the lighthouse and then the lighthouse itself in damp swim gear.

“Picture perfect”
Reviewed March 25, 2006

Steps to the top still closed as of March 2006, but the views of the island from the ground level were still spectacular. The lowest prices we found for trinkets! E.g., a magnet we saw elsewhere for $4 was only $2 at Gibb's.

“Enjoyed visit to Lighthouse”
Reviewed August 1, 2005

My family enjoyed visiting the lighthouse. If you are staying near the lighthouse and are able to walk to it, it is worth the trip. It is quite a workout walking to the top! Although you can't go outside it, the view is still neat to see.

“disapointed at the top”
Reviewed July 27, 2005

Vistited Gibb's lighthouse in July 2005. Its $1.50 per person to go inside the lighthouse. The walkway around the top is closed for reno's so you can't see much at the top of the stairs other than the light equipment. The outside railing is rusting away and obviously unsafe. No materials or work equipment appeared to be on site, so it may be a while. Looks like a major repair job that needs to be done but hasn't started yet. The windows are pretty cruddy so you can't take worth while view pics from the top. The view from the well maintained grounds is spectacular and worth the trip anyway. It is in a very quiet area. Don't bother with the telescope, its awful, save your quarter. The small gift shop is competitively priced and the cafe has good food for a fair price, you can reward yourself with a beer after the 181 step climb. You can walk easily from the Henry 8th restaurant or the bus stop on South road.
