We stayed in the Gold rooms on the 6th floor. Initial check in was not very smooth as they seem to be inundated with guests. Were told our room was ready and arrived to find cleaners still in it. Bags took forever to come up to room and were not offered a drink on check in as I observed others doing. No great disasters just slightly annoying kinks that can be prevented.

Room was very large with a great view of the Harbor and Heritage dock in distance. Great walk in closet with plenty of draw space, comfy bed, pleasant balcony and good turn down service.

The breakfast on Gold floor is included (as are refreshments all day, afternoon tea, wine and cheese/ Hors D'oevres happy hour and Petits fours (Cakes!) at 8.00pm if you are so inclined).

This property has certainly improved cosmetically since my last visit after their multi-million make-over. The Newport Room is closed (looks a bit stuffy anyway) but all 6 other options are available onsite. The pool appeared small for number of guests but we were happy to spend most days at their beach or next door at Horseshoe Bay, a short walk away.

Generally the service is good but I can see how some guests might not take advantage of all the place has to offer. You really do need to do your research and get yourself familiar with all restaurants/bars/spas/golf/shuttle service/ferries etc.

A very enjoyable stay with great access using bus , ferries etc to the rest of Bermuda.

The hotel is perched on a hill overlooking the island. You have to take a shuttle to the beach and to the harbor for the complimentary ferry to Hamilton. The service at the hotel is great. Tips are included but the servers still give great service. The hotel is very nice and clean.
There are a lot of company functions there. It is nice to get away and have dinner at the lighthouse next to the hotel. It just opened a month ago and it was great.

Church Bay right by the hotel was great for snorkeling. The private beach at the hotel was great as well. Visit Horseshoe Beach to see the difference. The pool was small but with such a great beach who cares! Must try the pizza at Jasmines in the bar.

Went to Bermuda for a long weekend with my partner. I had been before about 3 years ago but wanted a quick getaway from Toronto and Bermuda never fails to impress and allow us to recharge the batteries!

We stayed on the Fairmont Gold Floor and we impressed with the level of service offered. The little things like the Bose wave stereo in the room and the high floor views were spectacular. We stayed in room 619 which gaves us views of the Atlantic Ocean, the island and the Great Sound. Also sunset was directly in front of us which allowed us to sit on our balcony and watch the sunset in a lovely romantic setting. Another aspect of staying on the Gold floor is that although the hotel is so large, the hotel itself remained rather intimate and the staff offered a very personal level of service.

The hotel is on the top of a hill although there is the non-stop shuttles that take you down to either the Waterlot/ferry dock or to the Ocean CLub/beach. Walking down to the beach is very simple as well as you follow the golf course and then slip under and overpass to get to the tennis courts and beach area.

I much prefer the public beaches on the south shore to the beach at the hotel, except the conveniences of having bar service on the beach, showers, cabana, etc.... are nice when you are spending a day on the beach. There is some decent snorkeling to be had at the rocks out from the hotel beach although the coves in the eastern part of the public beach and along the trail to Warwick beach are out of this world. Very secluded and private and postcard perfect.

Staying on the Gold floor we ate breakfast and apps in the concierge lounge daily. We made it for high tea in the afternoon just once. The piece de resistance however was the desserts put out after 8pm. They were top notch in deed.

This time I didn't make it into the Willow Stream spa however I did go the last time and it was very peaceful and relaxing. In the evening the indoor pool and outdoor hot tubs are open to all hotel guests although during the day are exclusively for Willow Stream clients. The gym also does the job.

We had room service a few times and to be honest our only meals out were at the Cabana and the Bermuda fish sandwich was a highlight!

We used CEO transport to and from the airport and had no problems with this service.

Bermuda is very high end which comes at a price however it is well worth it for the level and quality of services, especially at the Fairmont Southampton!

We visited for a week with the main objective to be in a wedding at another nearby resort so we didn't spend all of our time at the Fairmont.

Regardless, we found the service and staff so cordial and helpful. It takes a little while to get oriented when you arrive - regarding the trolleys to the beach and the dock - but I would just advise talking to the Concierges and they will explain everything. Walking in Bermuda is not common - there are very few sidewalks, so even though you may feel a bit isolated up on the hill, chances are that anywhere you stay you will need to take a bus, scooter or taxi anyway. Get some bus tokens and a bus schedule from the front desk for an easy way to get around the rest of the island during the day or a scooter is fun if you are comfortable on one - and driving on the other side of the road. It's part of the experience to take the hotel trolleys up and down the hill, and the free ferry over to Hamilton to get to the "city" is easy and a way to see the island from the water. (But once over there was enough for us - we are not big shoppers.)

I advise taking an early morning walk up to the Lighthouse (even without sidewalks it is about 20 minutes max and not on busy roads); the view from the top is worth it, as well as learning about the history of this 2nd-of-its-kind landmark.

Just a reminder that all tips are built in to your bills which we found was actually quite a convenience. Keep in mind you will have an additional $20 per day for housekeeping - standard for the island - but would not be nice if a surprise if unexpected. Bermuda currency is dollar for dollar with U.S. which is easy, but everything is much more expensive, of course.

I appreciated getting the tip about asking for a free refrigerator for our room from these reviews - we did so and stocked it from a nearby market so we could nosh on a budget inbetween big meals.

The complaints about the small TVs puzzled me - why would you go to Bermuda to watch TV? They are more than fine to check ESPN for scores, etc.

We got the most budget priced room and it was spacious, clean, plush and we enjoyed the balcony.

The golf course is challenging and fun though short - with beautiful views at every turn.

Be sure to take in a late night hot tub at least once while you are there.

Over Memorial Day weekend you could see that the Fairmont is a big and busy resort - but there is plenty of space and places to be to not feel like you are fighting a big crowd at every turn.

And the beach is outstanding - what's more to want?

This is lovely hotel. Beautiful really -- a grande old dame in Southampton located at the top of a hill which provides scenic views and vistas. The location means, however, that you have to take a (complementary) trolley to their beach and a trolley to the ferry to reach the main city of Hamilton. A minor inconvenience if you simply want to walk to the beach or go shopping.

Be warned that Bermuda is incredibly Expensive -- with a capital E. We've been to other expensive Caribbean islands but the prices for everything (um $30 hamburger? $11 pina colada?) are so high that it's laughable. (Considering it's an island and all must be imported it's not a surprise just a fact.)

The four on-hotel-site restaurants are superb, fresh food, diversity of choices. We probably won't be back as there are lots of sunny locations to be seen -- but if you want a short weekend getaway, are looking for a short flight from the east coast ( less than 2 hours from Boston) this is one option to consider.

I vacationed here May 11 to May 14. I paid only $517 for air/hotel from Newark for 3 nights - speciall 99 hour sale. Lucky I did not pay full price for this room/hotel. Small TV, no wi-fi, when I tried to sign up for President's club - connection failed. Our room was over the roof of a restaurant (?) in the back of the hotel so no ocean view - not a complaint for the price. When I inquired about any sightseeing, the only thing the concierge could tell me was $40 per hr min 3 hours. Nothing else! What a disappointment on a short trip. When I went to the Dockyards, I found loads of info. If you take the #7 bus and want to get back to the hotel, there is no phone to call for a trolley. Lucky I had a brochure that had the hotel phone number so I called and asked for a trolley. There were no signs around the lobby pointing to restaurants - I still dont know where the restaurant Bacci is - and if I didnt know there was a spa from reading beforehand, I would never know unless you want to spend time trying to find out where things are. On the day we left I found out you could go to the indoor pool for free after 6 pm. Otherwise you must pay. I can't believe I actually missed the shops on the mezzanine level until the last day I was there. Just another disappointment due to not enough signage. A simple brochure would have served its purpose well.

We just got back from a long weekend at the Fairmont Southampton and had a wonderful time. Still a little too cold to swim in the ocean, but their private beach is gorgeous and well maintained. We were able to take advantage of a hotel promotion and booked a Fairmont GOLD room on the 6th floor. It really was a hotel within a hotel- a completely different level of service. There was a separate check-in on the 6th floor (top floor), and the employees learned our names and went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. You do pay a premium for this level of service, but the little things made the stay more enjoyable.

One thing about Bermuda is that the food is ridiculously overpriced (worse than NYC or Tokyo) and they automatically tack on at least 17% in service charges. However, if you stay on the GOLD floor, they provide you with complimentary breakfast (including hot items), complimentary bottled water and soft drinks all day, snacks, complimentary happy hour appetizers around 5:30 and desserts in the evening. Hypothetically, you could fill up for free and not spend an extra penny on food if you so chose. You also get free high speed internet access in the room and free wifi in the lounge. You can also print documents for free. Even though we spent more money on this room, we took full advantage of everything they offered, so in the final cost analysis, we came out about even.

We did make the mistake of choosing the Ocean Club for dinner on our last night on the island. The decor was straight out of the 70's, and the food was overpriced and mediocre. We had our desserts and a glass of wine comp-ed because our main courses (both of which were specials for that evening) took over an hour to come out of the kitchen. Even with free desserts, the bill still came out to over $170 (and no, we didn't order a bottle of wine)! Two hours of vacation time that we will never get back.

Overall, we were very happy that we chose the Fairmont Southampton for our first trip to Bermuda. If you can find a reasonable price on a Fairmont Gold room, that is definitely the way to go.
