Beautiful facility with spectacular views. Very nice room. Excellent food, very friendly staff. Was there as part of a fairly large conference, which caused some problems with the internet. Other than that, a very enjoyable experience.

Had been here 10 years ago and the property has done a great job keeping the dated feel it had back then! Heavy drapes, deep red carpets, bronze trim... It's 1980 again! They've started renovations and my colleague had a new room which was much improved, upgraded TV, color scheme and bedding. Request it!!

Typical meetings hotel, my room was accosted with various welcome speeches and reception music from events all week out on the front lawn. You'll feel out of place if you're not wearing a name-tag; and forget about a quiet nightcap at the bar if a group is in town.... If you're thinking about vacation here call to ask!

The restaurants are ok; the Gastropub is really dated, cheesy faux-yacht theme and ok food, dated cocktails (but great beer list!). The breakfast lounge is even stuffier, formal and just feels old. The historic restaurant on the waterfront (Waterlot) was excellent; best meal on island (not miss the sticky toffee pudding!!).

I don't want to sound too negative, hotel is clean, service is very good and rooms are finely appointed, just style is old & stuffy.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your recent stay. I am sorry to hear you were unhappy with the style & furnishings of the property. As you mentioned, we are currently undergoing renovations to refresh our look and continually update different areas. I am sorry to hear that the design detracted from your enjoyment of beautiful Bermuda.

We do our best to ensure that both our business clients and leisure guests can enjoy their stay, and all functions that are close to the property stop the speeches/music at a reasonable hour to accommodate anyone that might hear them. We certainly value all of our guests, and staff our outlets to be able to accommodate anyone hoping to enjoy our facilities.

I am glad you found the service to be good, and that the Waterlot Inn's dining experience was enjoyable. Hopefully if you visit Bermuda again, you will be pleasantly surprised at the results of the efforts that we are currently undertaking. Thank you again for taking the time to review.

Sincerely,
Carlita Lodge

I booked the Fairmont because they had a golf package. That was the reason we went to Bermuda. There were three fine golf courses within a minute drive. The hotel is beautiful. It had just undergone renovation and the rooms are in great shape. We had a deluxe ocean view room. There are a variety of restaurants. We tried Bacci's (Italian), Water Club (Seafood) and the bar restaurant. We were only disappointed in the bar restaurant. My husband received the wrong order and the hand thrown pizza wasn't that great. The other restaurant's were terrific. The staff was superb. I don't think I've ever been anywhere where the people are nicer. I've traveled a lot so this is saying a lot. Now for the "but" part...the expense. I had been warned that Bermuda expensive but yikes. Two Greek salads with grilled chicken and two diet cokes...$60 US. Then there are the taxes loaded on top of the bill, resort tax, maids' tip, energy fee etc. These added up to just a little over $100 US A DAY. In other words, be mentally prepared for these extra costs. The 18 hole par 3 golf course, which is right next door to the hotel, is a wonderful course. It's in great shape and offers three tee boxes to choose from. I still can't get over how nice everybody was...

Dear Linda C.,

Thank you for taking the time to review. I am glad you found the nearby golf courses to be convenient & you enjoyed our Turtle Hill Golf Club. It is fabulous that you found everyone in Bermuda so nice!

I apologize that you had a disappointing dining experience at Jasmine Lounge, I've forwarded your note on to their team. The cost of food is reflective of the reality of operating a business on a remote island where all items must be imported. Having said that, I am unsure of the number you quoted. Two large Greek Salads with Chicken & 2 diet cokes at Wickets Burger Bar would be $47 + 17% gratuities, which are included on all dining items and clearly marked in the menus. The other costs you mentioned are taxes, gratuities, & resort levy, which should be explained & articulated at the time of booking - I am sorry to hear you were surprised by these costs.

I am glad that you enjoyed the Bermudian hospitality & golf, and am grateful you shared your feedback with us on TripAdvisor.

Best Regards,
Carlita Lodge

Had a fab four days in Bermuda at this exquisite Oceanside(across the street) resort ..Superb service , very good restaurants and well located. Certainly worth a bit extra for a room on the ocean side. Very enjoyable boat ride to Hamilton. Would most definitely return.

Room Tip: Go ocean side

This Southampton is a very classy hotel. Absolutely loved our room as we were lucky to get a great view. The beach is a short shuttle bus ride away and offers several cabanas on the lovely pink sand. Access to the public beach is available through a gate on the right. It is a must see with spectacular coves and rock formations. The ferry ride to Hamilton is also very nice although I personally thought that the stores in the hotel were better than those in the town for quality items. Only wish that I had time to enjoy the spa.

The wife and I stayed 6 nights as this hotel and it is beautiful! The staff is very friendly, very professional. They are doing a LOT of things VERY well. The beach club is awesome....a private beach...very well done. The rooms were very nice...the views were great. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub.

The only downer is the EXTREMELY excessive food prices. $15 for a cheeseburger....$4 for a soda....$31 for a breakfast buffet!!! The other surprise to be aware of....we knew the room rates were high...we didn't expect another $70 per night to be tacked on in gratuities, taxes, and fees. Beware. ($70X 6 is another $420)....budget that in if you go.

As for Bermuda...transportation on the island is a challenge. Cabs are expensive, scooters are available if you dare. We rode the city buses....eh...not great. Getting around is not easy.

Thank you, Jason P, for sharing about you & your wife's week in sunny Bermuda. I am glad you found the hotel & beach to be beautiful and the staff friendly & helpful.

The prices of the food reflect the reality of operating a business in a remote island destination where most food must be imported from overseas. We do try to offer a range of dining experiences to accommodate a variety of price-points, and our offerings are consistent with other outlets in Bermuda.

Room rates are quoted exclusive of taxes, gratuities, & resort levy, which is clearly explained on our website. I am not sure of what method you booked by, but I am sincerely sorry that you were not made aware of the additional charges. Resort Levy is $11 USD per person, per day, gratuities range based on room type from $10.20 - $20.20 per person, per-day, & taxes are at 9.75%.

I am disappointed to hear you found getting around Bermuda to be difficult. Our complimentary ferry is a great way to get into Hamilton. Buses run on 2 routes past the hotel every 15-20 minutes during the day heading towards Dockyard or Hamilton. Taxis and scooter rentals are also options.

Thank you again for your feedback.

Best,
Carlita Lodge
