Overall a very nice hotel. Service was fantastic. Concierge was knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Everyone remembers your name. We had a small issue in our room (air conditioner leek from humidity) which (to my surprise) was immediately fixed. Nice rooms and view. Pool is lovely. Private beach is beautiful and great for snorkeling. Janelle at the beach will hook you up! She found us a great spot everyday and made sure we were comfortable. Breakfast buffet is bountiful and good and the Waterlot (steak house) was top notch. Yes things are expensive but you have to expect that before you go. Overall a very nice getaway with beautiful surroundings. Bermudians are very friendly and a pleasure to talk to. A beautiful island and a very nice hotel. We have stayed at some of the top hotels and I would not say this is on par with those (such as The Sanctuary in Kiawah or even The Breakers) but still a lovely place with great service. A few maintenance tweeks and it could be on par with some of the best hotels.

I recently stayed at this Fairmont for a girls getaway. We upgraded to the gold level, or concierge level, to take advantage of the breakfast, tea and snacks. This turned out to be a highlight of the trip due to the variety of items offered as well as bottled waters and sodas we could take to pool or beach. The staff at the hotel whether housekeeping or concierge, were always friendly and accommodating. We did not meet a rude staff member the entire weekend. There were a ton of families there as well and so I would definitely consider coming back with my family.

We ate at the Ocean club once for lunch and the Waterlot for dinner. Both offered excellent cuisine. We had the best steak ever on an island at Waterlot and very comparable to what I would expect from a fine streak house in the states.

The only complaint I left with was the condition of the beach each morning. I have never been to a beach resort that does not clean the beach for seaweed and trash left from the day before. Each beautiful morning we were greeted with empty plastic cups, trash and debris around the beach chairs. Surprising, considering all of the resort fees that are tacked on to the daily room rate.

The water and surroundings were stunning. I look forward to visiting the island again in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your girl's getaway trip, I am so glad that it was relaxing and that you largely had a great visit. To address your concern about the cleanliness of the beach - our tractors to sweep the beach were broken for a few weeks, and during that time our staff were picking up the trash and raking the seaweed manually. Naturally, this process takes a long time and they worked diligently at it, but I apologize that they had not finished clearing by the time you got to the beach. Our tractor has since been repaired and they do daily sweeps to ensure the beach remains in pristine condition. I hope that if you decide to return again some day, you'll see our beach in it's clean, spectacularly beautiful state. Thank you again for your comments.

First, needless to mention that the prices and services of the hotel are expensive, because if you decide to go to Bermuda YOU SHOULD KNOW everything is expensive!

That said, the hotel is beautiful! It is located almost in the center of the island. The golf courses are located nearby. The bus is the best and cheapest way to visit, for $ 3 you go to Dockyard or Hamilton. But if you prefer, there is a free shuttle service to Hamilton by boat, except that the hours are limited.

Guests have access to one of the most beautiful beach of Bermuda. Needless to spend on a snorkeling package, you can do the same directly from the hotel's beach. The best place on the island is undoubtedly Church Bay, a 15 min walk.

The rooms are clean and of good size. You will find a wide choice of restaurants. For our taste, the best value for money was the Newport Gastropub. Check for their daily menu special!

Whatever you prefer Beach, Golf, good food, snorkeling or diving? It is the best place!

Thank you for reviewing on TripAdvisor - in particular the disclaimer about Bermuda's prices. The prices of things in Bermuda reflect the reality of operating businesses on a remote island where everything has to be imported. The hotel does our best to cover costs and provide products that are of high-quality and value, so thank you for standing up for us!

We love the public bus for a great way to meet locals and catch all the stunning sights Bermuda has to offer - glad you were able to take advantage of it! Also really love your beach pic - thanks so much for sharing.

We truly enjoyed our get away to the Fairmont Southhampton in Bermuda. Its a wonderful property. We requested a high floor corner room and it was awesome! Lots of light and wrap around balcony with Ocean view. In my opinion, everything at this property is managed very well. The buses take you to the fairy dock and to the beach. You never wait more than a few minutes. Staff were very friendly, food was good and Bermuda is just a beautiful place. We will be back.

We also really enjoyed our sunset dinners at the Ocean Terrace. Amazing views!

You just need to keep in mind that this is an older property and may feel dated (especially at first). Its also quite pricey but I imagine anything in Bermuda would be. We did however, have continental breakfast included as part of our package and we really thought that was worth it as doing buffet daily would have been too much. Most days we just went downstairs and took some pastries/yogurts back up to our room and enjoyed a light breakfast on our gorgeous balcony before heading out.

Room Tip: Corner room. Don't bother paying for Ocean view as you can see the ocean from both sides. High...

Happy (belated) anniversary - I am so glad our team was able to help make it memorable! You are right, the hotel was built in 1972 and the decor reflects a sort of whimsical, colonial and island-past. I'm glad you enjoyed the Ocean Club Terrace - I'll let the staff know. The views there are really remarkable. Thank you so much for sharing your experience, I hope that you'll return for future special moments in Bermuda.

My family had wanted to travel to Bermuda for years, and this year we decided to. We originally wanted to stay in Hamilton, but since we're looking for a central location, we decided on the Fairmont Southampton. We truly enjoyed it.

This is a family-oriented hotel. There is plenty to do without even leaving the resort. There's tennis, snorkeling, the beach (both private and the Horseshoe beach next door), swimming pools, exercise center, and a lot of great restaurants. I was impressed with the staff, especially the concierge desk, as they had all of the information we needed.

There were several family programmes available. Our first night, we had a campfire-s'mores roast not far from the hotel. That was a lot of fun. The next evening, they had a barbecue on the beach, and the food was delicious. A couple of recommendations: read the activities book that you'll find at either the front desk or the concierge desk: that helps greatly. Many of the activities are complimentary. They have shuttles to the beach and to the waterfront, which in turn take you at certain times to Hamilton (take advantage of this!). Both shuttles also take you to the bus stop, either at South Road or Middle Road. I also recommend that you become a member of the Fairmont President's Club before you arrive. Membership is complimentary, and several of the items that would cost are complimentary with membership. If we ever travel back to Bermuda, and I hope we do some day, we will probably come back to this hotel!

Room Tip: Any room is a good room! Ours was on the first floor, and the view to the sound allowed us to see t...

Thank you so much, Ken, for sharing your family's recent vacation story with us on TripAdvisor. You're right - our Sensational Summer Guest programs are great - and a large portion of the activities are complimentary. I am thrilled to hear that you were able to take advantage of the activities going on, we also run similar programs over US Thanksgiving, the Christmas holidays, and Easter weekend. I will pass along your compliments to our concierge team. We really appreciate your positive feedback, and I hope you are able to return to sunny Bermuda again one day, too!

Although we prefer to stay in a smaller hotel while in Bermuda, we chose to stay at the Southampton Fairmont with our two adult children thinking they would have more to do there. The beach provided lots to do (although it gets very crowded) and the golf was nice as well. There are many additional courses on the island that are quite good for the better golfer as well...some quite close to the hotel, all easy to get to by taxi. We stayed on the 6th floor and it was a wonderful experience! Staying on the Gold level makes a large hotel feel small! We had our own "front desk" and lounge area, never needing the assistance of those in the lobby who were busy servicing 5 floors of guests. The experience on the 6th floor was wonderful...we felt very well taken care of. The breakfast, tea and cocktail options were lovely and added to our stay. We will be back!
