My daughter and I spent four nights at the Fairmont recently. We had a partial ocean view with a full view of the Lighthouse. The resort is conveniently located with shuttle service and bus service within easy reach. The best part of our vacation was the Waterlot Inn, a 360 year old establishment. The food and service were superb. Watch out for the food in the Jasmine Lounge though. We found the food at Jasmine to be inconsistent and at times downright terrible. Overall, we found the amenities at the Fairmont very commendable.

We enjoyed our stay at the Fairmont! With one minor room change we were quite happy! Our original room was over the hotels a.c/ generators so you just heard loud constant noise while sitting out on balcony. We were swtiched to a Harborview room which was beautiful! Trolley service was very quick.
The Beach was great. Towels, bathrooms, food and drink were all located at beach as well as a little store. The private beach was located right next to Horseshoe Bay beach which was breathtaking!
It is true what everyone writes about how expensive everything is. One tip we had was eat breakfast on the later side and skip lunch! Breakfast alone was about $68!

Only other downfall was the indoor pool, you can only use indoor pool if you get a spa treatment, which were extremely expensive or pay to use the gym. But of course you had to buy the more expensive gym pass to use the indoor pool. With the rain and overcast clouds, going to the indoor pool would have been nice. It is available to all hotel guest after 6:30 p.m

Hotel did have a "Healthy choice menu", with a limited gluten free meals. However, food staff was very good if you wanted to order off the regular menu and they would accommodate any modification to make your meal gluten free. The gluten free bread was delicious! I asked for it at every meal we had at hotel, (almost all restaurants in hotels including room service had gluten free bread). Also, for some reason the restaurant Bacci serves gluten free pasta but it is not listed on menu. Our waitress at Bacci didn't even know that had it, so make sure the waitstaff doubles checks with chef.
The restaurant Windows offers a great gluten free breakfast as well. They had gluten free muffins and scones as well. They also made me special gluten free hashbrowns,
I was very pleased how attentive they were to my allergy! The food was excellant!

Room Tip: Go for a Harborview..no noise!

Thank you for sharing this very thorough and well-considered review of your stay with us! We are so glad that you enjoyed our beach access via trolley and that you appreciated our various Lifestyle Cuisine gluten-free menu options that are available at each of our restaurants. One point of clarification for your future stay – while use of our indoor pool is only available to non-spa guests after 6:30 PM, complimentary gym access is available all-day to members of Fairmont President’s Club, our brand’s free loyalty program. We highly recommend that all of our guests sign-up for this program before they check-in so they can reap this and many additional rewards at our resort during their stay.

Please disregard anyone who rated this hotel less than 4 stars, the hotel is clean, adequately modern, and has many convenient amenities. The service was good, location is superb, and they have a private beach and ferry that will take you to the main town of Hamilton. We were there for our anniversary and at no charge were upgraded to an ocean view room and sent champagne and other treats. Everything in Bermuda is expensive so plan ahead and bring snacks to get you through the day and spend your money having a nice dinner in Hamilton. The beach is amazing and the island may be the cleanest and safest place on earth. Unless you can afford a five star resort and have unlimited funds, stay here and have a great time. We travel twice a year and stay in nice hotels regularly and we were very happy with our stay here. The people who gave poor ratings for the Fairmount Southampton are probably high maintenance and would not be happy anywhere, too bad for them, this place was great. If you want five stars then pony up the dough and stay at one, don't complain about a solid 4 star resort that does everything right.

Room Tip: Request a room ending in 98 or 32 on FLR 3-5

My husband and I had a wonderful trip to Bermuda recently. We travelled with our 3 month old daughter and were a little hesitant at first about traveling with a young child. The Fairmont was wonderful. The rooms and grounds were extremely clean and well-kept. The style of the hotel is slightly dated but it lended to the island ambiance. Yes, the TV is older - but who watches TV when you could be at the beach? The beach is a short 10-15 min walk down a hill but the free trolley is very easy to take. We had no problems taking our large stroller on and off. The private beach was gorgeous and chairs/umbrellas were always available. Other reviewers have complained about the price of food on the island. We found it in line with costs to be expected at a nice resort. I suppose the one con is that cheaper food is not available if you are seeking it out. That being said - we thought the food was quite delicious and we consider ourselves foodies. Lastly, we also took the ferry to the Fairmont Hamilton. The ride took ~30 min and was beautiful. The Fairmont Hamilton appeared very pleasant as well and offered a fantastic afternoon tea. Only one word of caution - the resort was very family friendly with children all around. Good for us, but may not work for all travelers.

The staff here, goes out of their way to make sure that you are well taken care of. They also remember any food allergies you have and are careful to make sure your food is safe for you to eat. All of the staff is warm and friendly and I am looking forward to going back.

I have travelled extensively around Asia and Europe and I found this hotel just average. The beach is stunning and we spent most our time there. the shuttle bus comes frequently so it wasn't a problem the hotel wasn't on the beach. The hotel rooms are so out dated, the decor the colours are from the 80s so it wouldn't appeal to someone who is accustomed to the Asian boutique hotels. The lobby and the other public places decorated like a fake English mansion. The food is nothing special and we tried most of the restaurants. The charges for the food were very high for uk standards. For me what lacked most in this hotel is poor quality of the service. Especially in the reception and the concierge area I haven't received any good service for the 7 night stay I had, they were in the verge of being rude. I felt like it was a holiday factory rather than a good hotel. The service in the restaurants and the beach is better. Especially Dennis always made us welcome. I think overall I would have been much happier sleeping on the beach with that fantastic view. I would go to Bermuda again, but not to this hotel. I prefer a more personal quality service.

I can see why a lot of guests give this 4 or 5 stars. Yes it's a beautiful location and the beach is stunning, but for me I thought that some things were lacking and could use improvement. So since the good stuff is well covered, here are some of our other observations:

1) Hotel is not actually on the beach but a 5-10min walk or alternatively a 3-5min shuttle ride. I had not realised this when I booked and although not a huge inconvenience if you want to go back to your room to grab something it would take a 20-30min round trip
2) Hotel grounds are huge but very few signposts giving directions. This is something that could be easily remedied
3) If you want to walk within the grounds there are almost no paths!!! It was unbelievable, 5 star property and you have to walk on the roads. Crazy...and unsafe
4) Had booked a shared shuttle transfer upon arrival via the concierge (they replied confirming) but at the airport the company (CEO transport) had no record of this, apparently the hotel never notified them. They agreed to take us anyway as they were going in that direction but this should not have happened. When I informed the concierge desk upon arrival they basically shrugged their shoulders and said "sorry". That was it...
5) Tried all the restaurants once except the steak place. Apart from the buffet breakfast which was very good we found all the restaurants very mediocre. Food was bland and tasteless. Also grossly overpriced, e.g. $30 for a hot dog and a salad!! Count on spending at least $100-125 per person per day on food if you eat all 3 meals at the hotel.
6) Mostly the staff were pleasant but a couple of them at the concierge desk were abrupt, borderlining being rude
7) Not a big fan of the "gratuity levy", "resort fees" etc etc that they add on to the room charge. It total these were over $60 a day extra. I had noticed it when booking so was prepared but when checking out the guy in front of us in the queue was complaining about them which was fair enough. These should be included in the headline rate quoted when one books. As far as I am concerned it's basically an attempt by the hotel to make the room charge appear cheaper than it is. This practice should be made illegal really

Overall a nice hotel but most of the above can be easily remedied to make it a much better experience
