My family has been staying at the Fairmont Southampton for years and one of our favorite spots for dinner has always been The Waterlot Inn. We usually go at least once per trip and like to celebrate special occasions there. This was no exception. We visited on the last night of our trip to celebrate a fantastic time with family and also my parent's upcoming anniversary. Unfortunately, we were slightly disappointed. The food was excellent, but the service was definitely lacking. For an upscale and expensive restaurant, it should have been much better - like it used to be. It took over 30 minutes for us to receive our cocktails and that was only after asking multiple times. We were eating with two little ones as well and asked that their food come out quickly - again, not so much. Additionally, what bothered me the most was that I requested a specific table (one we have sat at numerous times), first when the concierge made the reservation months in advance and then the prior night just to make sure. We were not seated at the requested table. This would not be such a big deal, but the restaurant is dark and we had a member of our party who is night blind. We were seated at a table in a dark corner, which I was none too pleased about. Since we have been to this restaurant countless times, I felt that we should have at least be given what we specifically asked for, especially with how much money we dropped for a party of 8! I hope that The Waterlot Inn returns to its roots of fine dining with a very pleasurable experience.
