“60th birthday celebration awsome”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

we will be back soon and will be bringing the family. the location was great being that we walked to the beach ever morning and afternoon. also there was a local store walking distance from the hotel to purchase beer, rum, and fresh fruit, veg., and meat. the hotel staff was friendly and helpful in finding other things to do off the resort. the breakfast buffet was great as well as the lunch fish sandwich. we didn't go to any supper meals because 7pm was too late for us. we are already planning to return. the best part was the beach was quiet and beautiful. it was like walking into paradise. we felt very safe using the public transportation to venture off the resort, not like other places...

My partner and I recently spent a long weekend in Bermuda and decided to stay at The Coco Reef Hotel. We were looking to relax in a quiet and peaceful environment by the beach so this hotel ticked every box. Sure, its dated in terms of decor but the friendly and helpful staff more than made up for that. Special thanks go to Ken the manager who always made an effort to ensure that we had everything that we needed. The late check out on our last day was appreciated!

Stayed as a family of four (age 16 and 10) with adjoining rooms. Went for the ocean view as opposed to beach front yet the view was still fabulous. Very pleased with the hotel and the staff are excellent. Yes some of the room furnishings could be improved but then I would expect that standard from a five star which the Coco reef is not. This place has lots of character and the position has to be one of the best in Bermuda. We visited a nearby five star for a short while to eat and to be honest the sterile atmosphere just made us want to return to the Coco Reef.

The sea was so clear and swimable for 15 mins before it became too cold - enough to see really colourful fish. One day we couldn't swim due to high winds which bought jelly fish in from the reef - nasty if stung. This didn't bother us as the pool was very warm.

Breakfast is very good and again the view from the table makes this an event.

Wifi a little sporadic in the rooms but fine in the lobby.

Safes, fridge and coffee machines in room and a drinks vending machine and free ice available. The hotel doesn't advertise a Gym but guets can use the college gym five mins walk away.

If we are lucky enough to return to Bermuda I will definitely look to stay at this hotel again.

Money and other personal items were stolen from our room. The manager told many 'lost and found' stories and was at pains to demonstrate how much he trusted his staff. We mentioned the POLICE and he had stories of people being embarrased when their reported items had later 'turned up'!
The police were helpfull though.. Filed a report and assured us that there IS in fact a lot of poverty and a problem with crime there......just to be aware.
On our request for the room lock to be changed the manager said it costs them a whole £100 to do this ....so he had our lock swiched with another room. (Apologies to those guests if your room was robbed too) The manager never approached us again. We came accross him twice subsequently : once when he seemed to prefer to talk to the cat more than us and another when he spoke to us re how tall a junior employee was getting.......even how big his SHOE SIZE was !!!!

Hotel outdated, view spectacular, totally overpriced (as many guests agreed), maintenance, reception and waiting staff very helpful.

Room Tip: Don't go here

Amazing, even with overcast skies, the view overlooking Elbow Beach is great, and that from any room in the hotel.

Although perhaps a little scruffy, rooms are comfortable and service is good from friendly and very helpful staff. Public transport close by, gets you all around the island. Hamilton is walkable distance away, though footpaths scarce and roads a little narrow.

Excellent value for money.

I will return!

Room Tip: All rooms face south-east with 180 degree views over Elbow beach.

My wife and I visited for a week in August. The best word to describe this hotel is "value". Value does not mean cheap. It means that you get a lot for what you pay. And you get a lot here...

Thoughts:
-Absolutely awesome beach. A stunning view with nice black rocks dotted throughout sand, and you're right by the water. Our first walk onto the beach took our breath away. There are fun round coral reefs just off shore to swim and snorkel around. Lots of fish to see.
-Great food
-Great service
-Great being near Paraqueet restaurant, grocery store, and bus stop (need to walk 5-10 mins for each, not bad). Close to Hamilton by taxi.
-Can rent snorkel gear and other beach gear right down beach if you want.
-Rooms are nice, but slightly outdated.

All things considered, you can overlook slightly older rooms for the AMAZING private beach right there. Seriously, go here if you want a good room with great service/food and world-class beach.

Great location with easy access to Hamilton, takes about 15 minutes to get downtown except early morning, and the rest of the Island. It is on the beach and all rooms have a great view of the water. Friendly staff, good food and relaxing atmosphere.
