We stayed at the Newstead Belmont Hills from 22-30 April and had the most wonderful time. From the moment we were picked up at the airport to going back nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We had a lovely 1 bedroom apartment which was bigger than most 3-bed flats in London! Everything was kept extremely clean by the friendly maid service and we made good use of the extensive patios overlooking the water and Hamilton. We had a couple of evening meals at the hotel and a couple more at the Blu restaurant at the golf club. All of them were excellent as were the couple of lunches we had by the pool. When our flight home was cancelled the front-desk staff couldn't have been more helpful (unlike BA but that's another story) and we also received a late check-out the following day. The location is great with easy access to the beaches on the south shore either from the courtesy bus to Coco Reef or a 30 minute walk. Alternatively you can jump on the courtesy ferry which takes five minutes to shuttle you over to Hamilton. It doesn't run in the middle of the day but there is another local ferry which takes in various stops including one adjacent to the hotel. As I said all the staff were great but a special mention to Brooke on the front desk and Eric in the shuttle bus for always making us smile.

We stayed at the Newstead Belmont Hills from April 5-13. Our 1 bedroom cottage was AMAZING! It was very spacious and clean, with a full kitchen, sitting area, and huge patio right on the water's edge.

The free water shuttle to Hamilton is very convenient and runs every 30 mins during peak hours. When that is not running, the local ferry stop is a short walking path, maybe 20 yards past the hotel. If you had business in Hamilton, it would be a very convenient place to stay.

The infinity pool was a huge hit with the kids! The pool was heated to bathtub tempurature, and more than once, a manager would come down to check on us and ask if we wanted the jets turned on in the hot tub. Again, super friendly.

Even more amazing was the friendliness and accomodations of the staff. We flew in late on Saturday night from Los Angeles, so my kids (ages 4 & 6) were exhausted and hungry. We were escorted straight into the little bar/restaurant adjacent to Beau Rivage and assured that they would remain open so that my little ones could get some food. Everyone was so nice, we would definitely go back to the Newstead on future trips to the island.

The rooms are beautiful, and the views are stunning. The staff do a great deal to make your stay wonderful. That being said, there was some frustration due to a lack of communication with front-desk staff. For example, be aware that the hotel automatically charges 17-percent of your room rate for gratuities -- we didn't realize this until we read the hotel guide in the room (a few days after we had arrived). Not a big deal, but then there was a lack of communication about the free shuttle. The shuttle is a great perk, and this could have been avoided by explaining the rules up front. For example, we called to get a shuttle return to the hotel from the beach around 6:30 pm -- but then we learned the shuttle is only "on demand" until 6 pm. We had called a few hours earlier to let them know we were going to call -- I wish someone had mentioned this to us at that time. Again, that was not the end of the world, but then we were told to wait -- the shuttle would come anyway, which we thought was really nice, but then it never came. So after about 45 minutes, it started getting dark, we took a taxi. When we got to the hotel, we saw the shuttle was at the hotel but taking people to dinner. When we asked why this wasn't made clear, we were told "we told you the shuttle only goes until 6 pm." Despite the communication issues, which could be easily resolved, we still would highly recommend this hotel!

Also, several people have commented about the hot tub -- it was not hot the first night we checked it either, but then on another day, it was hot, so if you are there, and it's lukewarm, ask if it needs to be turned on.

My husband and I have been travelling to Bermuda for years. During this time we have seen an enormous amount of change, in particular, the steady decline in the traditional and elegant cottage style accommodation. It is clear that hotel operators are struggling with the decline in tourists and many have closed altogether or changed their business model to a time share and hotel offering. Such is the case with Newstead Belment Hills Hotel. We have known the two previous properties (the Newstead and Belmont Hotels) over the years so we were curious about what we would find during our stay - overall, we were pleased and would return.
Our room was very comfortable with a view of Hamilton Harbour from the balcony, bedroom and bath. in addition there was a comfortable living room and fully equipped eat-in kitchen. Although very close to Harbour Road, we did not pick up the sound of road traffic. Even so, next time we would request a room further away from the road. We were only there for 2 nights and during that time used the boat shuttle to Hamilton which was great and ate breakfast in the restaurant twice and dinner once (we were not on a meal plan).
The dinner was excellent - food and service were both very good . We would definitely return. the breakfast was OK with poor service one day and good service the other (different waitresses).
The setting on the harbour is lovely both peaceful and lots to look at. The heated pool was very nice and not too crowed. our only complaint was when a father and his two teenage children proceeded to aggressively throw a ball within the pool while others were trying to use. it. the pool attendant - who provides excellent service, should really have stopped it...the pool is not large enough for mixing quiet pleasure with aquatic games. Another small item with respect to housekeeping services. We were offered turn down service once but the second night there was none. A 'do not disturb/make up room' sign for the door would help. Finally, our request for two feather pillows was fulfilled but they only had one!
If you like being on the water but don't need the beach this hotel is an excellent option!

I went there for a meeting and really enjoyed my stay. The staff are very friendly and the waterfront location is just breath taking and can be enjoyed from the infinity pool. The suite that I stayed in was clean, well furnished and with a great view out over the water. If you want a trip out I would recommend the number 7 bus up the south shore to Boatyard and then the ferry back to Hamilton. A beautiful island.

My husband and I celebrated our birthdays here and had a very enjoyable stay. The location was excellent and the view of the bay from our room and from the restaurant was lovely. Infinity pool very peaceful and enjoyable. The one bedroom suite was terrific and we enjoyed the large balcony and spacious home away from home. Great shuttle to and from the airport as well as to the beach. What is stopping me from giving this five stars? Some of the front desk clerks need to have a more customer friendly attitude (which was surprising considering the islanders are very friendly) and to brush up on communication skills. Other than that, a great stay.

Room Tip: Choose a one bedroom suite

My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary (a staycation) at Newstead Belmont Hills. This property ranks as one of the best on the island with breathtaking views of the City of Hamilton and the harbour. The service was excellent, food was very good. Our stay was wonderful from start to finish.
