LOCATION and GROUP
Positioned on the harbor cove in Warwick within a residential area, Blû is on many people's fave list. Apparently, two or three restauranteurs in Bermuda created the LIttle Venice group with to feature their different restaurants. One hostess shared that you can by a MAP plan in which the Little Venice group restaurants are your "meal plan" for your stay. Eating at each one is then already paid-in-full unless you opt for some exceptionally priced items outside of the proposed plan.
Most people will bring up the view as wonderful, fantastic, ... They are right. The deck area is very nice. The bar area seemed to be hopping when we arrived; there are sushi opps as well. Sometimes, if you can plan the reservation well, you may even get to have a romantic sunset while you dine. (1) Check the sunset schedule for Bermuda. (2) Get a reservation in advance or you may get a bit of an obstructed view. Inside can work as well if you do not care for the occasional humid evening.
Excellent with a team approach for drinks, ordering, delivery and checkbacks. The hostess and manager each checked in occasionally without being obtrusive. The kitchen is open with the appetizer and entrée chefs being the ones you can see and talk with as you walk by. The chefs truly appear to take great pride in their work and its presentation. Be sure to stop by to compliment them. Some of the servers had international accents that we had difficulty with, but with everyone's patience and understanding, we enjoyed their service. Do not speak louder or more slowly to them as a nearby client tried to get his thoughts out.
FOOD and WINE
Unusual and tasty food combinations. We started with their calamari, one of our favorites. The calamari was lightly breaded and fried served with a mango and red chili pepper sauce. The chef scored with us. We had molasses-glazed tuna with a sweet mash and a pineapple chutney mahi-mahi with a broccoli risotto. Usually, I leave risotto on the plate; I do not care for risotto normally, but this preparation was the best I had ever had. I ate it all...something about how the broccoli stalks and seasonings were chopped and blended...wow! They have a multitude of wines by the glass and even some nice 1/2 bottle selections.
Would we go back? Likely...and we'd plan a reservation a bit better
