When Marley from the Kingston House on the island wasn't able to accommodate an additional night stay, she recommended the Royal Palm (and even helped get a great rate!) I was greeted by name with a huge smile at the front door - it was almost as if they knew I was coming at that exact moment. I was given a tour of the grounds, told about the perks, and escorted to my room by the front desk clerk, an appreciated fringe benefit left behind by a lot of hotels back on the mainland. The room was gorgeous and spacious, with a kitchenette, large bathroom and private deck. It felt like the room was new and recently painted, and the clean crisp linens, fresh flowers and turn down service completed the feeling of elegance. A quick dip in the pool helped curb the heat at bit; the honor bar a bit more. I didn't have a chance to dine at Ascots, but heard that it is one of the best on the island and look forward to taking advantage the next visit. The typical British breakfast of scones and fruits, and the nightly wine service that I assume came from the same team, definitely encouraged me to return.
