There was a lot of good background on Bermuda's marine environment and seafaring history, but the "dive" was disappointing because the video was not working.

A short walk out from the shopping district (walk on Front Street and keep going as it turns into Crow Lane) is this fantastic Institute. If you are interested in the ocean, shipwrecks, sea life and sea shells you will enjoy.
Their exhibits are well done and they have interactive activities good for children. There is a large exhibit of Teddy Tucker's finds from sunken ships around the island, a section about the invasion of the Lionfish, as well as a large shell exhibit. Give yourself a couple of hours to explore and enjoy.

The BUEI was a worthwhile stop for us while we were in Hamilton. It is relatively small but houses some great artifacts and a ton of shells in their collection room.

It has taken me a whole year of living in bermuda to visit this place - why? Well it was open on limited days during the winter so it wasn't until we had visitors from verses that we tried again. It is brilliant! You start at the small but beautiful gift shop that has some really pretty pieces and art work. Then we were advised to stay upstairs for a while because the lady would be feeding the lion fish - thats fun, they eat voraciously. The educational side of the lion fish exhibit was very good, well laid out and easy to read for all ages.
The simulated dive uses somewhat old-fashioned technology but nevertheless for $10 entrance fee what did you expect - its fun, simple and informative and well done. Then the lower floors are fascinating. It all ends with a collection of treasure from various wrecks and I was prompted to get the book about wrecks and diving on Bermuda, even though I won't be doing either (too scared).
WE were not suitably dressed to eat in the restaurant (it is very posh and equally expensive) but they do nice ice creams in the shop.
Allow about 90 minutes for this museum, slightly less for small children who won't read all the boards. Suggest you then walk along into Hamilton and get a lunch or cake and drink at the supermarket on front Street and eat it by the cenotaph just a little further along Front Street.
