Okay but definitely not exceptional.

The hotel is in a great location and some of the staff is very nice. However, the rooms are small for the price point and there is only one hot tub and two small pools to accommodate this huge property. Also, beware even during holidays when they are quite full (in this case Thanksgiving) in off season the pool bars/restaurants are all closed which is extremely inconvenient.

Recently spent a long weekend in Bermuda and chose this hotel for 2 reasons. First reason was that it had availability as we only decided to travel a week before. Second reason was its proximity to town so that we wouldn't have to take a taxi or drive our moped at night to restaurants. Check in was very quick and our room was very nice overlooking the gardens. Small balcony with table and chairs and a very small bathroom with a stall shower. Room was very clean and was kept spotless all weekend. After check in we went over to rent a moped and instead decided to get a TWIZZY...its a cute little electric car and they can be rented right in front of the hotel. We were only able to rent it for 24 hours because they can be reserved in advance and there were none available for the rest of our stay. Other than a drink at the bar in the hotel we did not go to any of the hotel's restaurants. Every morning we walked to Miles Market (5 minute walk) and bought scones and brought them back to the hotel to eat on our balcony. We sat at the pool one afternoon which was lovely. This is a large hotel which does cater to groups so it is not for everyone, but for us it was perfect.

This hotel is beautiful and well maintained, and the staff is very friendly. However, I was disappointed when dining at the hotel. The service was terrible. But why should the servers care when they are going to get a good tip no matter how poor their service is? I have spent many years as a server and I never felt right about including the gratuity, because the tip should be based on my level of service. It is a TIP and it should be up to the customer to decide the amount deserved. I tip well when I have been treated well. It is unfair that I was repeatedly forced to tip well when my service was terrible. This isn't about the money, it's about the principle. What really got me though was the fact that I went down to the breakfast bar every morning simply to get a cup of coffee to take back to my room. They tacked on a 17% gratuity every time. The coffee was 100% SELF-SERVE. When I asked the server why I was tipping someone else, while I was doing the work, he just chuckled nervously and said, "oh, um, sorry". Good thing I have a sense of humor.

Dear stellablue812

Thank You for taking the time to share your concerns with us.
We would like to personally apologize for the service you experienced while on property as this is not the standard we are known for.
We would also like to apologize for the inconvenience of the added Gratuity. This is a standard throughout Bermuda and most countries and while it would be great to assume the server received the entire 17% unfortunately this is not the case. We hope despite the added expenses you were able to enjoy your trip to Bermuda and your stay with us.
We hope to welcome you back again soon!

Kind Regards,
Madison Mello

spent 4 days at the Hamilton Princess, and was very disappointed in the level of service. The staff were not friendly, and the hotel was very over priced. The food was average at best, and extremely slow in all outlets. The staff seemed to be more interested in discussing things among themselves rather than help the guests. Booked a taxi for the airport and did not show. I was told the concierge didn't book it, night before, and that I would not be late. so after waiting for 20 minutes later than my requested time, a taxi arrived. This made me be in the massive queue at the airport. no apologies.

Upscale hotel with many nice features and facilities. Attractive outdoor space and art work. Price exceeds the value. Many details regarding service need more attention. examples include staff yelling loudly in corridors outside bedrooms, laundry bins sitting in corridors, access cards that don't always work, etc.

The hotel is located in Hamilton, approximately 20 mins from the airport and a $35 cab ride. It's located near the downtown area, everything is within 5 to 10 minute walk, restaurants, stores, market, etc. The hotel has an impressive art collection full of modern and unique art. The staff were incredibly friendly and made a point to always go out of their way to address you.
We were in one of the older wings of the hotel during this stay, not what we had hoped for after reading previous reviews. The rooms were slightly dated. None the less it was a nice stay overall. The rooms were clean and in close proximity to the pool which for us was a plus.
The pool areas were lovely and clean. There were plenty of chairs, unlimited towels and water stations. The were several severs that tended to the pools but over the course of the 4 days we were there we never interacted with anyone other than the one time we finally were able to get someone's attention for a menu. After waiting 30 minutes for them to come back we left and went somewhere else to get food. There was a small bar near the infinity pool that we constantly went up to get drinks at.
The beach area is beautiful...BEAUTIFUL! I was disappointed we visited there on the 3rd day because after visiting the beach that's where I wanted to stay the rest of our trip. There is a jitney (shuttle) that leaves every 30 minutes for hotel guests and picks you up and drops you off over in south Hampton at their private beach. Exclusive for Hamilton Princess guests. There you have a private beach in a cove. The water is very calm and has little alcoves you can check out. There you can use free kayaks, paddle boards, glass bottom boards to adventure out into the water. The hammocks in the water were a nice touch too. The service at the beach was incredible! Everyone has a buzzer on their table next to their chair that you press when you need to order something. My husband and I took full advantage of it and enjoyed getting to know our server.
We ate twice at Marcus the restaurant in the hotel. The food was very good and had a unique menu to choose from. After the first night and the great food, we found ourselves talking about the meal and how we wanted to try other dishes we saw on the menu. It was very expensive for what you received, however, the food was great and they took care of my food allergies with no hesitations.
We ate breakfast several mornings at Crown and Anchor (the bar off the lobby), I was incredibly disappointed with the buffet spread for what you got. We tried ordering off the menu thinking that would be different and found the food to be more expensive and you received even less food. I'm not one to be picky, however the food was just tasteless. There was such a lack of service too at this establishment. I don't know if it was because it's October and their season is winding down or if everyone is on Island time. But it was hard to get someone's attention and to find someone when you needed something.
We rented a 'twizzy' a small electric car onsite during our stay here. After reading reviews prior to our stay I contacted the concierge and arranged for a car ahead of time. I was happy I did as I heard from numerous people that they were unable to get a twizzy to try during their entire stay there.
Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and will definitely return to the resort. Next time I'll ask for a newly renovated room and probably find breakfast elsewhere.

Room tip: The hotel just went under a multimillion dollar renovation the staff told us - request a renovated room.

Dear Jarjac

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our property, your comments are very much valued.
While we do apologize that your room was not one of the newly renovated we are so happy to hear that this did not ruin your stay. We would also like to apologize for the lack of service you received while dining in Crown & Anchor as this is not our standard.
Its wonderful to hear that you were enjoyed lounging at both of the pools as well as the beach club and that you found a day to experience a Twizy - we are so excited about having these in Bermuda and find it the best way to explore the Island.
Thank You again for taking the time to provide such wonderful feedback. We aim to provide a memorable experience for all of our guests and we are so happy we were able to do so for you.
We hope to welcome you back again in the future!
