The hotel is located in Hamilton, approximately 20 mins from the airport and a $35 cab ride. It's located near the downtown area, everything is within 5 to 10 minute walk, restaurants, stores, market, etc. The hotel has an impressive art collection full of modern and unique art. The staff were incredibly friendly and made a point to always go out of their way to address you.
We were in one of the older wings of the hotel during this stay, not what we had hoped for after reading previous reviews. The rooms were slightly dated. None the less it was a nice stay overall. The rooms were clean and in close proximity to the pool which for us was a plus.
The pool areas were lovely and clean. There were plenty of chairs, unlimited towels and water stations. The were several severs that tended to the pools but over the course of the 4 days we were there we never interacted with anyone other than the one time we finally were able to get someone's attention for a menu. After waiting 30 minutes for them to come back we left and went somewhere else to get food. There was a small bar near the infinity pool that we constantly went up to get drinks at.
The beach area is beautiful...BEAUTIFUL! I was disappointed we visited there on the 3rd day because after visiting the beach that's where I wanted to stay the rest of our trip. There is a jitney (shuttle) that leaves every 30 minutes for hotel guests and picks you up and drops you off over in south Hampton at their private beach. Exclusive for Hamilton Princess guests. There you have a private beach in a cove. The water is very calm and has little alcoves you can check out. There you can use free kayaks, paddle boards, glass bottom boards to adventure out into the water. The hammocks in the water were a nice touch too. The service at the beach was incredible! Everyone has a buzzer on their table next to their chair that you press when you need to order something. My husband and I took full advantage of it and enjoyed getting to know our server.
We ate twice at Marcus the restaurant in the hotel. The food was very good and had a unique menu to choose from. After the first night and the great food, we found ourselves talking about the meal and how we wanted to try other dishes we saw on the menu. It was very expensive for what you received, however, the food was great and they took care of my food allergies with no hesitations.
We ate breakfast several mornings at Crown and Anchor (the bar off the lobby), I was incredibly disappointed with the buffet spread for what you got. We tried ordering off the menu thinking that would be different and found the food to be more expensive and you received even less food. I'm not one to be picky, however the food was just tasteless. There was such a lack of service too at this establishment. I don't know if it was because it's October and their season is winding down or if everyone is on Island time. But it was hard to get someone's attention and to find someone when you needed something.
We rented a 'twizzy' a small electric car onsite during our stay here. After reading reviews prior to our stay I contacted the concierge and arranged for a car ahead of time. I was happy I did as I heard from numerous people that they were unable to get a twizzy to try during their entire stay there.
Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and will definitely return to the resort. Next time I'll ask for a newly renovated room and probably find breakfast elsewhere.
