you will be there if you arrive by ferry, otherwise a short walk down from bus terminal. good restaurants and shops. people watching. expect panhandlers (a polite no thank you usually sufficed).

It's an obvious place for visitors to wander along, the ferry deposits you at one end and there are lots of restaurants to break your walk. But the shops may break your bank. This is where you buy designer stuff and expensive tourist stuff. If a cruise ships in sadly your view across the Harbour from Front Street will be limited! Harbour Night on summer Wednesdays is probably best time to see Front Street.

You can find almost anything you might want at almost any price in the shops and restaurants that line the north side of Front Street. On the south side are parking lots and the quay where you may see a cruise liner or a tall ship.

Typical variety of shops and restaurants for an area with a lot of cruise ship passengers. Heavy traffic, but a nice view of the harbor may be had.

I have been trowling Front Street since I was a little boy getting my first shetland sweater. Many of the old names are still here, some are now sadly gone (will Bermudaphiles ever get over the closing of Trimingham's?), but this is not only the heart of commercial Hamilton but one of the best array of stores anywhere in the Caribbean. And, despite Bermuda's high prices, good bargains can still sometimes be found.

The cafe scene has improved immensely since I was a kid, and there are now plenty of places to grab a salad and duck in from the sun when your feet feel they're ready to give out but you still have more shops to hit.
