Do visit and walk the waterfront on Front St. The architecture is classic Bermuda and the shops are interesting to browse.

I'd suggest arriving by ferry. Not only is a ferry ride a great way to see some of the island, but coming into the harbor by boat is a fantastic way to arrive!

Waterfront dining is to be had as well. A great place to take lunch and watch the boat traffic.

Good news! A lot of the Bermuda prices have gone down. This was the first time that I seriously shopped in Bermuda, clothes and shoes for myself from Calypso, and Christmas presents for friends and family from Cooper's and Brown's. It's always fun to wander up and down Front Street, with it's candy-colored shops and restaurants on one side, and the harbor view on the other. At night, the Christmas lights were up this time, very charming in a semi-tropical setting. We lunched one of the days at The Pickled Onion, out on the balcony, sharing appetizers and drinking chilled white wine. Very enjoyable way to relax.

Front street was the main street in Hamilton. It had a wide variety of shops to explore the majority being quite high end.

Because of ages of buildings, they are not handicapped-friendly, You had to go up step stairs to many of the restaurants, but most of the stores had elevators.

Over the years, Front Street was the center of the island's top shopping experience. Unhappily the loss of Trimingham's and its replacement by a bland bank building in the center of the street takes away one of the island's iconic stores. There are the usual T-shirt and tschotcke locations and one interesting gallery of African art. Walker-Christopher jewelers holds its own at the west end of the street.
