“Climb, Lay Back And Enjoy The View”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2014

Since it is holiday, Fort St Catherine itself is closed when we visit.

However, that does not prevent us from climbing it's slanting hillside to enjoy beautiful views of Gates Bay, the first named place in Bermuda, hundreds of feet below.

“Fort St. Catherine - Bermuda”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2013

Fort St. Catherine is a must-see when visiting St. George's in Bermua. The fort is deceptive, since the outside looks like many others. However, the inside is fascinating with all of the tunnels, ammo storage areas, and kitchen. It provides you with a realistic look at life as an English sailor assigned to the fort to guard the Island. It is also easy to see why the first English settlers chose it as a logical defense site to guard the capital in St. George. The views of the ocean are spectacular.

“Nice view...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

Nice walk from the centre of St-George's (1.8km) and it brings you near Tobacco Bay where the first settlers landed back in 1609. The fort itself looks like all other forts but it contains enough information to understand it's history and importance to Bermuda and the English Empire. It was also used during WW2 by the Americans and Hollywood filmed there back in the 60s. No visit is complete without heading out to Fort St-Catherine.

“Well worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2013

From the outside I did wonder if this was worth the entrance fee, but it definitely was.

The inside is a maze of tunnels through all the ammunition stores, sleeping quarters and kitchen.

The outside is full of HUGE cannons and amazing views out to the stunning turquoise seas.

So glad we went.

“Excellent English Fort in Bermuda”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2013

Experience life as a English officer at Fort St. Catherine located in St. George. A beautiful setting as the Fort guards Bermuda. Uniforms, guns, large gunnery and armament in and around the fort. A great time and a lot to be learned about the life and times of a English officer . A must see while in Bermuda. A free shuttle will drive you over from St. Georges to the fort
