“Excellent!”
Reviewed July 2, 2010

My wife and I just got back from Aruba, and stayed six nights at MVC Eagle Beach. As the previous review mentioned, Christy was great and helped to make our stay very enjoyable. If you are looking to go to a resort where you don't leave the grounds, are waited on every minute, and just want to sit by the pool the whole time, this isn't your place. BUT, if you are looking for an excellent "base of operations" that is right across the street from an excellent beach, has simple, comfortable, and clean rooms, and an excellent staff, I would highly recommend MVC Eagle Beach.

We did not spend a ton of time at the hotel itself – mostly at the beach or off exploring the island in our Jeep, which was paid for with the $ we would have spent on rooms at most other hotels. As stated by one of the others staying at the hotel, if all you see of Aruba is the hotel district and Orangestad (essentially the bus route), you are missing out on a whole lot. A couple of recommendations on things to do while in Aruba if you like to get out and explore a bit: RENT A JEEP – not just a car – and take off-road it to the back side of the island: the lighthouse, western coast, natural pool, abandoned gold refinery, and caves in the national park (lunch location right in the middle of the national park coast). Also, Baby Beach is a must ($8 snorkel & mask, and is like swimming in an aquarium). Watersports such as kitesurfing, windsurfing, etc. can be done just past the high rise hotels. If you hit the right time of year, you may get to see some Sea Turtles hatching on Eagle Beach – there were about 10 nest sites marked while we were there, but didn’t get to see them hatch. This happens several times per year, not sure of the timing.

A lot of Dutch nationals stay at MVC, and this is a pretty small, quiet hotel. It has a bar/restaurant that serves a Dutch-style continental breakfast (yogurt, breads, some fruit, gouda cheese, salami, ham, and muesilix and corn flakes). The hotel has about 25 rooms, and as mentioned in the previous review, it was formerly military quarters, so the rooms are a bit small and simple, but very clean, and the one we stayed in had a king sized bed (by American standards, at least), even though they called it a queen. All of this for a VERY reasonable price.

Our only complaint was the size of the pool. It is tiny - about 8 x 10 feet, and only about 2.5 feet deep, so not useful for much other than kids. If they installed a larger, deeper pool, we would have spent more time there, and likely more $ at the restaurant on fruity drinks too!

Thanks to Christy and the rest of the staff for a GREAT vacation, see you next time because we would love to come back!

My Boyfriend gave me the best Birthday present ever and I Thank You So Much My Heart.
We loved MVC and Aruba what a wonderful place and Island it really is The Happy Island. We stand at MVC Eagle Beach for 4 Days and had a great time it's one of the best places to stay t the location is near everything. We really recommend renting a car the Island it's a very easy to get around but if you don't want to drive they really do have a good bus system. The Hotel is right across the beach and walking distance from palm beach and others. I will be back as much as possible to Aruba and MVC Thanks to Christy and all the staff for making it a wonderful stay. We recommend going to Mangel Halto Beach it's an Experience not to miss. Can't wait to get back to ARUBA.............

I wanted to say that Christy was completely awesome in helping me during my stay at the hotel. She was friendly, supportive and genuine. There were a few hiccups on my first day but Christy was a super hero and made it all better for me. The rooms are plain, but I see they are making changes to make it more appealing and cozy which I appreciate. Historically this was a place where military would sleep and as you know they don't need luxury, just a place to lay there head at night. The rooms were very clean and the beds were super firm. I like firm, but know that this wouldn't be all that comfortable to others. The beach was right across the street. I was recommended by Christy to eat at the trailer at the beach during lunch and their food was pretty good. They would explain their dishes and even make recommendations. Good call Christy! Though the hotel does have a restaurant on site I would highly recommended to shop for snacks and drinks and have them in your room. The hotel served it's purpose by giving me a place to lay my head at night so I can get up and start my days with activities. It doesn't make sense to spend several hundred dollars a night on a room when you are hardly there and that alone makes it worth staying there. I can foresee MVC's upgrades making the hotel more cozy and can't wait to return to see what they do the place but to still keep it affordable. There are some people that I can say would like to stay here because of it's simplicity and Christy was extremely helpful in setting up my activities. - That alone was a huge help in not going to the destination or call to book my activities.

Stayed here for a week and was pleasantly surprised!! Note: this is not a five-star facility but a quaint small hotel with few amenities. The second floor is only accessible via a spiral staircase {this made getting my luggage up a challenge!! LOL} That being said--our room had an ocean view, was immaculate with tile floors, mini frig and a king size bed. A hair dryer and iron were provided but no toiletries like lotion/shampoo.
The location was perfect...across the street from the public bus and there is plentiful parking in back if you choose to rent a car for a few days.
The hotel provided free lounges and beach towels to carry across the street. Eagle Beach was NEVER crowded and we had no problem getting a thatch umbrella for shade each day. This is not a manicured, raked beach like a resort but it was still beautiful with pristine water. Weekends brought more locals with children and some dogs but this added to the charm for me. Weekdays were so peaceful.
The continental breakfast was a great start to each day...it included coffee, juice, fresh fruit, yogurt, asst breads/cereals, cheese/ham, hard boiled eggs. Presentation was wonderful with real china/cutlery and gourmet european jams, Twinings teas, real butter, etc...
Staff was always friendly!
The only thing to note would be front desk hours. The office was attended sporadically and often locked {perhaps they were elsewhere on property} and hours seemed to vary by day. No one was available after 4:30pm. Thus, if you need concierge service or have questions--catch them early in the day. :)
I would not hesitate to return. For the price, it cannot be beat!! Sunsets were amazing!

This hotel is wonderful!! We stayed there for a week and loved it. It met my 3 requirements. It had to be clean, have a big bed, and be air conditioned. What it lacks in amenities, it more than makes up for it in ambiance and charm. It felt like a little European hotel. The European style breakfast was wonderful and filling. The Tulip Restaurant was excellent! We will definately go back.

Be prepared-room doesn't like the one on website but it's clean, comfy mattress, small fridge. Don't bring beach towel-free ones in office. Tulip Restaurant food is fantastic/ service is A+. Try Chicken Satay with small salad for lunch-ask for warm rolls & garlic butter. Ask for free beach chair-beach is so windy that if you lay on towel, sand is flying. Top security at night-they lock gates around 10 p.m. and no one explained that our key opens the gate. Had us worried but nice security guard let us in. You don't need to rent a car-can take bus everywhere-only $1.30 and bus stop is right there. Ask office to book a 4 hour bus tour of the island-well worth it. Very small, shallow pool-very clean-good for floating. Office and restaurant staff EXTREMELY friendly and HELPFUL. Internet available in bar area where breakfast buffet is available. GOOD breakfast assortment.

We have choosen this hotel because of good reviews on trip advisor. We were not disappointed at all. Location was great , Eagle Beach is very nice and it was just across the street. We had a huge room , simple , but very well cleaned. Inside there is Tulip Restaurant which offers breakfast. Food is very good, that's why we decided to have dinner there. For late check out there is a small room available for leaving your stuff and relax (or having a shower) before saying good bye to Aruba. There is a bus stop just in front of MVC EAGLE and this is was good because public transportation in Aruba works very well!
