This was my absolute favorite vacation ever. My fiance and I travel a lot, but this was our first time to Aruba. The Surf club was gorgeous! The hotel is right on the beach and the water and sand were very clean and we never had a hard time finding a chair.

We rented a car so that we could travel the island and explore all that Aruba had to offer, so I would recommend renting a car if you really want to SEE Aruba. There is so much to do on this island that our 7 day vacation FLEW right by. We went to the caves, baby beach and the National Park, which we both enjoyed VERY much. I would go back in a heart beat and would recommend this place to anyone!

This hotel is supposed to be more kid friendly then the Ocean Club, but neither I nor my fiance noticed many children during our stay.

I would personally recommend this resort to any traveler. Checkin was no problem and you can check out on the phone. The grounds are well kept. Parking is very accessible.(I recommend a car-however there are no street signs so you have to get landmark directions) The shuttle service between the properties allows you to go to restaurants, (La Fista 4 stars try the grouper sandwich )shopping and the casino. On Sunday they have bingo at 4. The unit was clean and fresh. It had a washer and dryer. The tub is separate from the shower and toliet( right off the bedroom.)Unit had two sinks. Easy access to the pool and beach. One problem which I do not fault the Marriott is that guests get up at the crack of dawn to tag their chairs. So if you want a good spot you have to get up. They have aqua excercises every day in the pool . There is a pool that does not allow children. Food is quite tasty pool side. At the beach you also have to stake a claim and pay for the huts. Next door to the property is a mall (not very good). Not far away, are two super size grocery stores. Staff are very courteous and helpful and give good directions to any restaurants. There is no pressure to buy, as I was an exchange. There is no nightlife to speak of.

We have been coming to Aruba for years. When we began traveling with young children we had to change what we looked for in a resort. On a trip to Aruba we ran into the engineer building the Marriott Surf Club and he said it would be perfect for us. We decided to check it out a year after it was completed and have been back several times.

Waterslide, Lazy River, 2 zero entry pools, swim up bar and a host of other amenities that makes it ideal for a family vacation.

Currently we are in a 2BR, 2BA Ocean front suite. This particular room is $995 a night on Marriott.com. Because it is also a timeshare resort. Weeks are available on timeshare sites like redweek.com for anywhere between $800 a week and $5,000 a week depending on BRs, Views and time of the year. We find it easy to assume others timeshares and often barter the cost down at least 20% or so.

On this particular stay we have been here 3 "platinum" weeks, the first 2 were $2,200, the last I got at $1,250 (did it at the last minute while already here). My four year old was upset we were going home and asked if we could stay here forever.

While there is a small issue with awesome spots at the pool. we have always found a few chairs very near the pool and have never been left out at all. At the surf club you can use the other Marriott property pools restaurants casino spas. they can not use yours.

the only draw back is the lack of a sit down restaurant or room service. there is food available around the pool, and it is really good, a bit pricey, but you kind of expect that.

Overall we love it, especially with the kids. because we come on different weeks and several times a year, we did notice that it seems different types of people come on different weeks. Most of the time, they are all really nice and all want to just have fun. On occassion you get a jerk, but such is life.

My four year old wholeheartedy recommends the Surf club.

We had a 4day stay as part of a time share promo deal (attendance required at 90min. presentation). Upsides: The rooms were clean, decent views, pleasant and accommodating staff. The room itself was the "locked off" side of a 2bedroom unit; our room was comparable to a decent size hotel room. For families - lots of kids' activities, social interaction. There's a mini market on the first floor with great morning coffee and tasty, well priced sandwiches for lunch. The pool is quite nice with a swim up bar; however, one must get up early to tag the desired location for the day or end up waiting for someone to vacate a chair(s) to sit by the pool. Same for the beach - which has only one access, a winding path around the pool, creating congestion and backups behind families with tons of beach gear or older guests. Downsides: there are beach rules! Seems there is a turf war going on between the Surf and Ocean Club next door. Guests are not allowed to occupy space on one side if staying at the other. VERY frustrating as all Aruba beaches are public! Not knowing of these imaginary boundaries (hard to see where one ends/another begins from the beach) - every day, we were told to move our beach chairs, either by the banana boat vendors or hotel security. One day I was surrounded by 3 security people telling me to move - then move again, I'd not dragged my lounge chair far enough! Such beachinistas! Another day, I had no sooner dragged a canopied chair to the shore when the beach patrol told me they were only allowed in the shade behind some other imaginary line. What? With so much justifiable focus on sun safety/skin cancer awareness, why aren't canpolied chairs allowed in the sun? Trying to relax was exhausting! Then the silly expenses such as paying for floats to use the lazy river, just annoying. Pricing is quite high- 40K for a one week time share with nearly $1200 in annual maintenance fees. At those prices, it's not for everybody. We decided we much prefer the Marriott resort property for peace and relaxation.

Very hot and humid but with constant breeze. Need lots of sunscreen.
The Surf Club now gives wristbands for the lazy river so even though the hotel was full, there was no problem with crowds in the lazy river. The other resort guests can't come anymore. The chair problem seems to be gone as well. We never had a problem getting a chair at 10 a.m. Don't get up at 7 just to tag a chair.
The beach is very crowded everywhere but not in the water. We snorkeled every day north of the hotel and those beaches (Arashi, Catalina) are not crowded at all.
Hotel is large and lots of people. Good amenities and great restaurants within walking distance. You can get by without a car by taking a taxi to the grocery store but having a car gives you freedom and lets you explore the island. Arawak National park is an experience. Looks like a moonscape but lots of potholes on the dirt road part.
Marriott 2 BR is a little smaller than at some of their other properties. And just a soaking tub (no jets) in the master bath. But otherwise very similar to other Marriott properties. Queen bed in the 2nd bedroom rather than another king. Pull out couch no too comfortable.
Everything worked in the room. Sheets for the king bed were a bit too small so we ended up using two sheets on the top and two blankets. Once people are in the bed, the sheet and blanket won't cover you - unless you like to snuggle in the middle. They should invest in bigger sheets.
Wireless internet is only available in the lobby and by the pool and is painfully slow. They need to upgrade the wireless. This is a Marriott timeshare problem. They didn't have internet at all for years, then they got wired connections that are fast, now they are behind in wireless. They'll catch up in about 5 years!!!
