“Great Beach, Great Amenities, Service Lacking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

Watch out for the Pool Nazi, the Chair Nazi, and the Towel Nazi. You would think that these things were gold to the resort, rather than their customers. So, when you're at the pool, make darn sure you wear your wrist band and use your chair tag on your chairs....and don't leave it unattended for a long time. Now, a great beach on a beautiful island and a VERY well maintained Marriott resort, everything else is where it ought to be. It's Marriott, so you know what you're going to get, but please make me feel like you actually appreciate me being here. It must be a standard problem with Marriott timeshares in the Caribbean that they ALWAYS, ALWAYS make you wait past your standard check-in time. A new plus is the HUMONGOUS grocery store two minutes down the road, meaning you can stock up on groceries at a "reasonable" price versus the local, in-house "market". Love the lazy river and the daily drink specials at the bar. Better than average fitness center and daily activities for families with children. Easy walking distance to tons of restaurants, shops, and activities. Loads of aquatic activities such as jet skis, paddle boarding, and para sailing. Less than 5 minutes away from three different casinos.

Room Tip: Building six is closer to the beach, but good luck getting an ocean front room.

I love all the Marriott hotels worldwide. I do my best to stay in a Marriott whenever I go on a trip no matter what other deals any hotels have going on. They are always clean, with extremely helpful staff, and the perfect layout for a hotel. On our 8th trip down to Aruba we decided to move up from the Casino to one of the resorts and stayed at the surf club first. The room was perfect. Always clean, with fresh towels, spotless bathroom and kitchen, the cleaning staff even went out of their way and placed any clothes laying on the floor on top of our suitcases and shoes in the closet. It truly felt like we were at home while staying in this hotel. The lazy river wasn't even the best part! Overall, this is my favorite hotel of the three Marriotts they have in Aruba.

My friends and I stayed here Sept 26-30 not nearly long enough. Since this was our first time in Aruba we didn't want to stay too long not knowing if we would enjoy our vacation. We wish we could've extended! We booked an ocean view room and when we arrived to our room it was a very partial ocean view and primarily overlooking the parking lot of the Ocean Club. We were moved to a real ocean view room the next day with a view of the pools as well. This was a perfect room for us 3 girls. Given this stay was during the low season we had no problem with chairs. There weren't as nearly that many kids running around as other reviewers stated. The hotel staff is very friendly and patient. Jaison the pool area DJ was spinning all the right songs! The food at the hotel is a bit pricey $14 for pancakes ONLY but there are a number of great restaurants along the beach with lower prices. Aruba is on "beach time" so people do move at a snail pace. As we were told "you're on vacation what's the rush"?
Places to check out:
Moomba Beach Bar & Restaurant the Sunday night hang out. Thom was a great server. Moomba's cheeseburger is YUUUMMMYY but it's huge!
Bugaloe Beach Bar & Grill also good on Sundays
La Iguana Cantina - in the shopping center good Mexican food.
Smokey Joes - delicious BBQ!
The Bread Basket - yummy breakfast sandwich for cheap! Right on the beach near the radisson.
Hadicurari - on the beach next to surf club. The manager Romalo(deep voice) was so nice to us! His voice will make any girl melt. He gave us these awesome tilted whiskey glasses to take home with us. The food is really good here and there was a seafood buffet on Sunday.
El Tours - roundtrip airport transfer $18. Jeep safari was awesome! Yella was our tour guide and he was very knowledgable about the island.
Catamaran boat cruise including snorkeling, food and drinks was perfect! Our captain, Armando was really cool! He jumped in the water with me since it was my first time ever going snorkeling. He really made my 1st snorkeling experience memorable. Can't remember the name of the boat but we booked with the group in front of the Stellaris. Ask for Armando's boat and they will know who you are talking about.
Aruba is the place to be! Can't wait to go back.

We enjoyed our Stay at the Lovely and Beautiful Marriott property. We highly recommend this hotel as one of the best resorts Aruba has to offer. While staying, you can't miss the Great Lazy River pool. While we were on Holiday, the other pool was under construction. We had no other choice but to lounge around all day in the Lazy Rivier. Unfortuantely, durring our Stay, there was this obnoxious group from NJ BLASTING their music and singing all day. It appeared as though they were intoxicated everyday. Aside from this annoying group, we highly recommend Marriott Aruba as a destination for you to see.

More than anything else we wanted to give a great review on the newly renovated Fitness center. We have visited this property several times and have taken advantage of the fitness center and programs. The Staff member Sandra Denise Adams was as usual quite friendly and very helpful. what an added delight to our vacation.. Thanks sincerely to Sandra..

Room Tip: All rooms are great here.. You will return every year like we do

We're staying here, Sept. 26-Oct. 3. Tomorrow's our last full day. We've had a great time at the pools and eating at the pool grill. It's the beginning of low season, so it's not really crowded. The beach is really nice and we love being able to walk to the shopping area each night and have an assortment of restaurants to choose from. Our favorite is Iguana Cantina, which overlooks the plaza which features a water/music show each evening. Waiter Jorge there is our favorite! Our four-year-old grandson loves the Surf Club's water slide and kids' place, where he made a necklace and baked cookies. Water aerobics in the morning is something I look forward to. Also, the Surf Club's daily iguana feeding is a big heat, for young and old. Would highly recommend the DePalma snorkling and snuba day trip and the jeep trip around the island. The butterfly farm is a great trip as well as the submarine trip, which my grandson loved. All in all, it's a great place to vacation, with quality rooms and features and friendly staff.
