Brickell Bay Beach Club & Spa
Ranked #24 of 24 Hotels in Palm - Eagle Beach
Reviewed January 18, 2012

We had the good fortune to be in Aruba from 12/31/11 to 1/15/12 at the Brickell Bay Beach Club and Spa (our first visit to this hotel). On New Years Eve we had one of the best views of the most spectacular fireworks we have ever seen. What a way to ring in the New Year! The staff and other travelers could not have been more gracious as we wished each other the best for the coming year and enjoyed the display. While we did not spend much time in our room, we found the bed to be very comfortable and the noise level quiet. The free continental breakfast at Tomato Charlie's was great. Our only recommendation is a better towel system, as we had to wait in line a few times to obtain beach towels. Having vacationed in Aruba for the last 20 years and having stayed in the best five star hotels, Brickell Bay is up there for being reasonably priced and comfortable. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: We were in Room 320 facing front of building.

Stayed here in 2009, cant say we were impressed when we landed at hotel. Room was ok, but discovered that view was not very exciting looking into the back of restaurants.Asked to be moved because of noise from air conditioning system. Have to say housekeeping showed us a couple of rooms, and we choose a different one. View was no better, but noise was a little bit less. At night-time could be noisy but you are staying in the middle of a town. Beach is about 5minutes walk away, but is well worth it. One of the nicest beach, but if you fancy a walk, walk to,cycle take a taxi to Eagle Beach beautiful. In saying that hotel staff were all excellent, very friendly and helpful, as are all genuine Arubans. We had the pool to ourselves most days as there were not a lot of other guests. Loads of iguanas and was great fun watching them falling into pool from the roof. Altogether was an excellent holiday, hired bikes and went for a long cycle, very warm in August. Overall would recomend Brickell bay, as it is good value for money for the Carribean.

This was indeed one of the best vacation I've ever experienced. My first visit to the Island of Aruba, which is approximately 19 sq. miles, I nicknamed it "One small Island, huge vacation experience!" An important note: "please bring more than enough spending money." However, if you stay at Brickell Bay, you'll have plenty cash left over to spend on lunch and dinner at the many restaurants within walking distance from Brickell Bay. Across the beautiful white sand beach, with turquoise waters. I highly recommend having dinner at Scala, located on the second floor of the Paseo Herencia mall. Another excellent restaurant is Seonchi, experience the taste of Aruba's culinary delicious dishes. Overall, Brickell Bay is the best location, value for your money! Friendly staff, and my special thanks to Regina, front desk manger, very helpful!

While our room was nothing to write home about, it was clean, pleasant and functional. Housekeeping was good, though we did have to ask for additional soap/shampoo at least once during our week's stay. While initially dubious about the offered American breakfast (at the attached "Tomato Charlie's"), we were delighted with it, especially the fresh fruit plate and fresh-squeezed orange juice, and it was a deal at just $5/person/day. The pool was lovely, and the beach an easy one-block walk with beach chairs offered free for hotel guests by Marcel Watersports. We'd be happy to return to Brickell Bay at any time.

As others have mentioned, some of the older reviews gave me pause, but the post-renovation reviews were much better, so I went with Brickell Bay. While the pictures on their website are a bit glamorized, the place was really very nice. Lots of open spaces for the Aruban breeze to blow through. Everything was very clean, and service was, for the most part, very good. Sometimes we had to wait a while just to get towels, but that's about it. Our package included the American breakfast at Tomato Charlie's (which, contrary to another person's review, is on the premises - yes you have to walk down a corridor, but so what?). The breakfast was wonderful, with freshly squeezed orange juice (and by freshly squeezed, I mean we sometimes had to wait while they squeezed it), fabulous waffles, pancakes, and french toast, great fresh fruit plates. The coffee was so-so. The pool and pool bar were excellent - we spent a lot of time there. The walk to the beach was no big deal at all, and the beach itself, well, white sands, warm water, beautiful weather - what else could you ask for?

I would definitely return again.

My husband and I stayed at Brickell Bay for three nights. Before booking I checked TripAdviser and found older, relatively poor reviews, then a mention of renovation and then some decent reviews post-renovation. Sadly, this "boutique" hotel is nothing of the sort. Regardless of renovation, the property is old. It is further away from the beach then I would have thought. You walk down a large alleyway to get to the beach. Along the way were solicitors that you have to decline. The Brickell Bay website made several misleading and inaccurate statements. The website boasted a free continental breakfast, which is not offered. Three restaurants on premises meant that there were many restaurants located around the corner. Non of which are actual within the hotel. Complimentary water in each one meant that you received ONE bottle of water and no more. Although frustrating, the place was clean. We had our stay, but would not recommend this hotel.
