This place is as close to paradise as one gets,it is 99% perfect in every respect,it has everything one can ask for.it has best beach, beautiful pool, best kept landscaping, gym, camp for children, good sport activities, friendly helpful staff, eager to be of service.if you are returning guest they remember your name they greet you with your name and welcome you like grandma would welcome you to her home.maid derive is excellent.restaurants are ok,they working on improving them especially the new one near the pool.the only negative is the old telephone service which they will modernize soon.we stay here every year for 5 weeks from the end of January to the start of March for the last 12 years,it is our home away from home during winter from north USA.

Room Tip: it all depends on your activities ,corner rooms are larger and sunny, higher floors have less AC unit...

This is the 3rd year we have stayed at this resort. The people we go with have been coming for over 12 years. There are no surprises The rooms are more than you need, the beds are great the rooms and bathrooms are clean. With a little effort and no charge you can have your own hut at the beach, The waitress comes to you. The food is reasonably priced especially for a resort.
The staff never seems to change year to year and are beyond friendly. There is a large supermarket nearby (need transportation to reach). When you go to the store the doormen load your shopping on to carts for you, there are kitchens in most units except for the lockouts which have a ref rig. a microwave and a coffee maker.

Room Tip: The rooms are basically all the same, except the direct ocean view

This was our third time to Aruba but first time there with our kids (ages 12 and 9). We had previously stayed at the Hyatt and Radisson, both of which are more luxurious than Marriott Ocean Club (MOC). However, when we travel with kids, we prefer a timeshare or condo style unit with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a full kitchen. We rented through an owner from VRBO which was a much better value (and more appropriate price for the property) than if we had booked directly through Marriott.

The MOC lobby and rooms are standard Marriott. There was some in room wear and tear. For example, shower drain covers would come off. Towel racks and hooks were cheap and poorly affixed and frequently fell down. The living room sofa is hard and uncomfortable to sit on. The duvet covers are too small for the bed. The top sheet and duvet are not tucked in and slide around a lot. The bathroom towels and thin and scratchy. The kitchen was excellent and seemed updated. It was well equipped with everything we needed. Our third floor"oceanview" looked directly into the Marriott Surf Club and over the Iguana Sanctuary. Looking to the right there was what I consider a partial oceanview. I would have preferred in room laundry but used the complimentary laundry room on the floor a few times.

The pool and beach area are lovely and not overcrowded like the Surf Club next door. (While the Surf Club is newer and the kids were wowed by their pools, my husband and I disliked how crowded the pool and beach area were there.) My husband did get up at 6 am or so and wait in line for a palapa each day and always got one. Oddly, you can reserve them in advance for three days for a fee, but husband was told on the first day there were none available for the whole week. Lots of under the table tipping must be going on to get a palapa for more than three days. We never had trouble finding a pool chair in the late afternoon when we came up from the beach. The onsite beach restaurant was under construction during our stay but was still open and was an easy place for lunch. The staff was very friendly and prompt (all but once). The location of MOC is excellent. It is an easy walk or very short cab ride to many restaurants and shops. We found the people in Aruba to be much friendlier and quicker than on many other islands.

The activities available on and near MOC are great. The kids took part in some of the water sports offered by the vendors on the beach. They also loved the iguana feeding and even enjoyed Bingo one afternoon. The weather was just spectacular the entire week. The sun was shining but the constant breeze keeps you cool. Aruba is a great place to visit in February and escape the winter blues.

Overall, we liked the Marriott Ocean Club despite some minor wear and tear and would definitely stay there again if traveling with our kids. If traveling as a couple, we would probably opt for the Hyatt or Radisson.

"NO" seems to be the one word the staff uses as frequently as possibly. Bring lots of money as this place is a rip off as is most of the "Friendly Island". Seems they got it right ; "You catch more flies with honey , then vinegar" Our ocean view room overlooked a iguana sanctuary whose inhabitants came on top our patio even siting in the deck chairs and scratching at the sliding glass doors ! After 4 days we fled Marriott and the island. Will vacation in the US and Canada from now on.

Room Tip: Have an E Mail of what room you will have , so you don't travel there and get a switch to some...

Stayed here for my 50th birthday girls trip with my sister in Oct.
She was able to book us rooms using her Marriott points. My unit was Oceanfront on the 2nd floor and the view was amazing! Beautiful sunrises and sunsets everyday. What wasn't beautiful was the sounds coming from the pool below every afternoon.
If you are looking for serenity forget the Ocean front rooms the amount of noise everyday and night was unbearable!
My first 2 nights there was parties going on at the Marriott hotel next door and the sound certainly traveled.
My sister had ocean/pool room on the inside and she did not have any noise issues.
I am an owner at the Playa Linda and love it but I have to say I felt a bit spoiled after my week at the Ocean Club.
Although the rooms are not as new as the Surf Club next door I found it be very clean and comfortable. The bed was so comfortable as was the selection of pillows
( I would love to drag the bed up to my unit at the Playa Linda were the beds are terrible)
All in all I would definitely return again .

I travelled here with my husband, our 20-month-old daughter and my in-laws. This resort was perfect for us. It is so, so family friendly. I think it is a happy medium between the three Marriott properties. Surf Club is possibly more kid friendly but is MUCH larger and more crowded. Stellaris is possibly a bit fancier but did not seem at all geared to kids. The Ocean Club was perfect for us.

A few notes: first, the room we were in was showing signs of wear and needed some upgrading. There wasn't anything major. Just cracked tiles here and there. Items like soap dishes and waste bins look like they've been through the wars. The carpets have definitely seen much better days. The beds are comfortable but the living room furniture definitely needs to be replaced. (The small chairs show a lot of wear and I have never met a couch as uncomfortable as the one in our living room area.)

With that said, we had a fantastic time. We had a palapa every day. The beach is fantastic and full of families. There is a great baby pool as well as other different pool areas. There is a toy exchange bin near the towel hut where kids can pick up toys.

At 10 am each day, there is iguana feeding! My daughter loved feeding the iguanas lettuce. There is also a playground on site.

Because the rooms have kitchens, that made life with a toddler much easier. We used the barbecues to grill several nights, which was fun.

On the whole, the staff were warm and helpful. The security staff always made a big fuss over my daughter, who lives for attention. The ladies in the sandwich/ice cream shop were sweet as anything. The cleaning staff went to great lengths to avoid our room during my daughter's nap time. One exception to the rule: If I had to guess based on the level of cordiality, the beach attendant believes I plan to kill his mother.)

The restaurant food is "meh" at best. Smoothies from the Juice Bar are expensive but delicious and made with fresh fruit.

All in all, my family felt at home here. We all agree that, while there are a few areas for improvement, we had a really fantastic time.
