If you book this option (Ocean Club) you'll have a nice view from your terrace, a huge apt, but this is all. It is quite expensive and not luxurious, what you could expect from a location like this. The bed, king size, is very comfortable, in the bathroom there is a huge shower and a large Jacuzzi. In the flat there is a complete kitchen. The beach is white sandy, the temperature of the sea very hot but not crystal clear. For a weekend it's ok but not for a longer period.

We opted to take Marriott up on the offer to listen to a pitch to buy into its timeshare program at this location. We have wanted to return to Aruba for some time and this was the "excuse." Arriving from the airport at 1550 with check-in promised at 1600 the bellman was ready when we arrived (via taxi). Getting to the front desk and waiting our turn (there were 5 people working the counter - 3 trainees - per their nametags) we were waited on in relatively short order. However after the trainee went to the back office he came back to tell us our room would not be ready for at least another 20-25 minutes (over commit and under deliver - so much for 1600 room being ready). We waited in the lobby and returned at 1615 to the same person. At about 1620 he goes back to the office again. Comes back gives us the room key and other information. Along with the bellman we get to our room - 1st floor - no view of anything other than the building next door - and the housekeeper is literally just leaving the room. She hadn't even had time to close the door when we arrived. So a 1-bedroom as requested, no view, not really well cleaned - and they want to sell us a timeshare. The room is OK, but nothing special - certainly not when compared to other timeshare properties we have stayed in with friends who have them. Well, the appointment is later today, but with the way we were treated as to our room being ready when promised, the location of the room, its cleanliness and rather "average" furnishings - why would we want to even consider it. If this is how a prospective "owner" is treated I don't want to think about what would happen if we actually took them up on whatever the program has in store. If/when we return to Aruba, and yes we would like to, it will not be this way.

The views are stunning at this timeshare, and the employees friendly ad helpful. Lovely support staff, and the facility is clean and updated. The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. The Pavilion servers helpful and gracious--both at the pool and at the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and stayed two weeks, October into November.

Room Tip: We usually prefer an upper floor and facing the pool, but our room was on t he south side this time...

We own a timeshare at the Marriott Ocean Club in Aruba and as always had a fabulous time. We arrived on a Friday November 1st for 8 days. We generally eat out the first two nights and then alternate eating in and eating out. We ate in the following restaurants:

Amadeus - Excellent
Wacky Wahoo's - Excellent
Gostoso - Excellent - In a residential are of Oranjestad
Amore Mio - Good Pizza -High rise area near Senor Frogs

One night we bought fresh Red Snapper from the Daily Fish and pan fried it with a citrus sauce. While not part of Super Foods, the shop is located on the outside perimeter of the Super Foods store and faces LG Smith Blvd. You park in the Super Foods lot.

I have a few suggestions and comments for those who have never stayed at Ocean Club:

Check-ins can be slow. Be patient. On check-out days, many departing guests leave unused food in the laundry rooms and you may find swim toys such as floats lined up by the elevator on your floor. Feel free to take them for the week. Swim noodles can generally be purchased at Super Foods.

You may find books that have left by visitors at the Towel Hut.

If you are going to eat in and grill, I suggest you bring matches and a metal spatula as it sometimes takes a while to get the engineering staff to light the grills and the only spatula in the unit was one for non-stick pans.

Please be aware that the Pavilion Restaurant and pool bar is under construction so you can't swim up and get a drink. They have a temporary set-up between the old venue and the Beach. I hear they are due to be complete in mid-December 2013.

The Ocean Club is more relaxed than the Surf Club next door and you will find fewer families with small children at the Ocean Club.

I hope this has been helpful and enjoy your stay.

We got one of the not so sought after 1st floor rooms facing the pool. I was a bit disappointed at first but then discovered how much easier it was to go back and forth from the pool area and beach and not have to use the elevator. We were only a few steps from a side door which made it much more convenient. There was some pool music noise in the afternoons but didn't last too long and really never bothered me. The only noise I would say bothered me was the sound of the waterfalls in the pool. They seemed to be on 24/7. I wanted to hear night noises like the wind in the trees or just the sounds of the ocean. Check in was quick. The place is a bit dated but seemed clean. Our room was an efficiency but had everything we needed. We could not get the bus from the airport as you can only get on the bus if you have carry on bags, and we had one checked bag so we had to take a taxi. Then the next day we went to the grocery store and were unsure about taking the bus so ended up taking a taxi again. So $50 for those 2 taxi rides could have been put to better use renting a car for a day or 2 to get to the hotel and then getting our groceries plus we could have driven around the island. We did take the bus into town one day which was very easy to do. Palm Beach has lovely water and sand. It is a bit crowded but also has many shops and restaurants around to choose from within walking distance and we felt safe.

Room Tip: first floor rooms don't have as good a view but its easier to come and go from the pool and beac...

With the Marriott Hotel on one side and the mammoth Marriott Surf Club on the other, the Ocean club is an island of quiet nestled between two places that seem to go 24/7. The Ocean Club is a timeshare. The grounds are beautiful and meticulous kept. The staff are helpful and courteous and the beachfront uncrowded. Most owners seem to be on the older side but you will see families and kids. There is a pool bar, restaurants and daily things to do. There us a casino next door in the hotel with many more restaurants nearby. Beware, if you want a palapa on the beach, you should be out by 5am to wait online. Most of the owners seem to know one another but are quite friendly and very helpful

Room Tip: It is very difficult to change rooms once you've been assigned one

This is the standard greeting we receive each year upon our return to the Ocean Club and yes, after years of visiting Aruba and staying at our 'home' resort, this property has indeed become our home away from home.

From the front desk associates (thank you to Ben, Rosangel, Nicole and Jacqui), to the towel hut and beach attendants, warm smiles and hugs abound. No request is too great or small, not for the mighty Marriott Ocean Club staff, whose apparent silent mission statement is service above all.

Guest Rooms:
A one-bedroom unit at the Ocean Club will furnish you with a full-size kitchen, replete with basic cooking and baking accoutrements, a comfortable dining area, a sleeper sofa, two armchairs, a king-size bed, two televisions, a jacuzzi tub and an ample balcony...perfect for enjoying your morning cup of java and/or the glorious sunsets (dependent on room view). Speaking of views, the best are to be had on the fourth floor or above, inside the 'U,' facing the pool. While the furniture in some of the rooms may display signs of wear, all areas of the Ocean Club are kept clean as a whistle.

Beach and pool information:
Beach towels are secured through the towel hut, located to the left of the Pavillion Restaurant (facing the pool). They may be exchanged daily, and are free of charge with your stay.
Palapas - a portion of the palapa inventory may be reserved free of charge, on a first-come, first serve basis, through the towel hut, which opens at 7 a.m., daily. The balance of inventory is available by pay-reserve and those huts may be reserved up to three days in advance at a cost of $15 (first and second row); $10 for all remaining rows.

Pool chairs are available on a first-come, first serve basis and are intended for use by Ocean Club guests only. A swim-up pool bar is also available, serving up delicious, frozen concoctions such as the Raspberry Mudslide and Slippery Monkey (my advice - try one (or more) of each).

The property itself is in close proximity to the restaurant, bar and shop offerings of Palm Beach. Tip: Follow the beach path to Marriott Surf Club. Continue past Hadicurari restaurant, take a left onto the access road (the dirt road/driveway will become paved) leading to MoomBa Beach (on your right). Follow this road and you will see Caribbean Cinemas straight ahead. Beyond this point, you will find the Paseo Herencia Mall on your left and Holiday Inn on your right. Voila! The offerings of Palm Beach await.

Thanks to the staff of the Marriott Ocean Club for another memorable trip!
