“Loved it”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2013

Gave Azzuro a try this time and loved it. We even went a second time. Plenty of options to satisfy all. The portions were decent but of course as with all Aruban restaurants, the prices are ridiculous but they are on par with what's around. Definitely recommend.

“Poor choice for family dining”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2013

Not a family friendly restaurant at all, service is extremely slow and prices are high, even for Aruba dining! You pay here for location when there are better options along the beach!

“Don't expect much...”

Food was okay at best. Overall, we were disappointed in the meal. Service was very poor, the waiters were very inattentive. Ambiance was pretty which tricked us into thinking it would be better then it was.

“Solid Italian (for Aruba)”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2013

I would agree with the positive reviews of Azzurro at the Playa Linda Resort.
If you are from the Northeastern U.S. (i.e., NY, NJ, Boston, Philly) or eat a lot of Italian food, you might agree with my wife and I, both with Italian moms, that Azzurro serves reasonably authentic fare, at least from what items we tried during our recent visit.
Gnocchi and cannoli were quite good and we enjoyed our pasta dinners, glasses of wine, and dessert.
Service was good, waiter polite, sort of quiet but with a friendly smile. Our food arrived almost too quickly, less than 15 mins. from order placement. But we visited early evening and the dining room was nearly empty. Overall service at Azzurro seemed to be similar to other "Aruba time" service standards, somewhat less attentive than U.S.A. dining experiences but not neglecting.
I think it is best to keep in perspective that you are in Aruba, quite far away from our usual Italian establishments back home. The food here seemed to replicate the traditional flavors we are accustomed to at home with some minor variations. The tomato sauce (or gravy) in our dishes was a diminished quantity, less of it. A few other touches like large pepper and tomato chunks, but it was fine with me.
Not having pasta smothered in red sauce is not neccesarily a bad thing as long as the flavors of the overall dish are balanced and not bland. I would try some other dishes from the menu, as we only had pasta dishes the night we visited, to determine how they handle other classic Italian plates. Some TI reviewers seemed unhappy with a few meat dishes so I guess I'd need to try other menu items to have a better perspective. Maybe next Aruba visit. At the very least, we'd return for the cannoli dessert.....
