“good trip”

Stayed at Holiday Inn 4/21/14 to 4/28/14, have been to Aruba at least 7 times and have stayed at Radisson and last year the Westin. Loved both those places, however Westin now closed for renovations as Riu has bought them and Radisson was way too expensive. We went the all inclusive at the HI which we normally would not pay for all inclusive as there are so many good restaurants in the area. Radisson not all inclusive and Westin was breakfast only, however the price from Toronto was was much cheaper to go all inclusive with Sunwing or Sunquest compared to same week with Westjet which was flight and room only and was 800.00 more for two, so was no brainer to take the all inclusive. We ended up eating all our meals there since they were included. The breakfast buffet was fine, lots of variety and dinner at the other restaurant was very good with good selection. Few items were extra charge but did not pick them. Drinks were good, no problem getting served. All the service was very good in both restaurants and the bars, room cleaning was done in a timely manner and rooms were cleaned to our satisfaction. Even though all inclusive we did have to sign bills every time we got something. No problems at check out bill was zero. Not sure if the bills were different for all inclusive but they seemed high. For example, 4 cups of Balashi beer came to approx 32.00, included tax and 15% sercharge. Same with the meals at dinner seemed pretty pricey, but since we were all inclusive I did not care as long as I did not have to pay for them. I did tip extra whenever I purchased anything because I would not be surprised if the employees did not get all the 15% service charge. I also left the cleaning staff about $20 in the room when we left. Check in and check out was no problems, quick and went right to our room although we arrived right at 4pm. Went down to reserve palapa for next day no problem waited in line for about 5 minutes and got one right in front facing beach. Not so good the rest of the week. We arrived on Monday and left on Monday. The rest of the week we started out lining up about 3:15 for 4PM and every day after that it got earlier and earlier if you wanted first choice. All palapa's were reserved every day. Just bring a book and a drink to the line and chill out while you wait. Even though this can be a pain in the butt every day, i prefer this to getting up at 6am every morning to get a chair in the shade and finding people put towels at the beach and the pool which is just plain rude. Both the Radisson and the Westin have the same palapa reservation system. I think several hotels do that as most of the palapa's have numbers on them.

Overall I had reservations about staying at the HI however I was quite pleased with the whole week and would not hesitate to go again. As far as Aruba goes it is my favourite place to vacation and have been to many Carribean islands. The cost is more to go there (from Canada) but well worth it. We did not rent a car this time or go to grocery store however we have many times in the past so if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

One other thing, keep in mind this is a Holiday Inn and not at Hyatt or Ritz Carlton. There are much nicer hotels and also hotels that are not as nice, but the Holiday Inn exceeded my expectations.

just returned from our 6th stay; it just keeps getting better & better. The renovations are wonderful. cannot find a better beach. yes, you have to get in line for a hut each day but then get to talk to other guests. stayed Tuesday -Tuesday; easy check in, room was ready at 2PM...able to unpack, change and hit the beach....so felt like we got an extra day
we visit the other hotels but keep coming back to HI....easy access to the beach which is what we go to Aruba for

Room standard generally poor, not of normal Holiday Inn standard, definitely not of 4-star standard. Hotel information received stated renovation made as late as 2012, could not see a single sign or evidence of this. Carpets in rooms and hallways outdated, ugly and can only imagine the risk exposed for someone with allergy. Doors and windows dating some 20-30 years back in time. Airconditioning loud and not controllable in each room only centrally. Breakfast restaurant poor, more like a school cantine. The system on the beach with bath towels and sunbeds works. But the system to reserve the beach umbrellas is a true disaster as you need to line up each afternoon, literally for hours to get something for next day (!!). Nothing else but a stress factor (!!). Hotel defined as a resort, contains shopping arcades and even a casino which makes it very busy and commercial, neither my style nor my interpretion of a beachside resort hotel. No hotel transport/shuttle available neither to the city nor to airport. In summary, as a Priority Club (Holiday Inn) member since 1994, I would not return, not recommend this hotel to others.

Good hotel, good pool, good beach, good food, good attention, but be careful , because i lost my wallet in the room in the hotel, and still wait for appears it. Or some call or e mail from the hotel. HUGO

Walked into the lobby and was pleasantly surprised. The open, modern entrance was a very welcoming feel to begin our stay.
The rooms are large, the furnishings slightly dated, and I just wish that the carpet had either been replaced or ripped up. I chose not to walk around barefoot, since it didn't look clean.
There was a couch, two dressers, a refrigerator, a table and two chairs. Ideal for a traveling family. The bathroom was a little small, but clean and allowed everyone to get their business done. The Wi-Fi was adequate.
The staff overall was kind and accommodating, and the little café in the front lobby offered a nice selection of lite bites for breakfast and lunch.

From Check in to check out we found the employees of the hotel to be very friendly. The front desk was very nice and able to break big bills and make change. The kids club attendees were friendly and helpful. Kudos to the maintenance and housekeeping department, this property is very clean and it is because they are Always cleaning. There were security guards posted around the property that felt very safe regardless and they were helpful in answering questions and keeping an eye on the kids in the pool. Great Value, great views, great people. No need to waste money staying at other more expensive resorts save it for eating out and doing activities.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Sea Tower. Close to the Sea pool, salt water, and right on the beach. Get a room...

Stayed here for a week, we knew that we weren't staying at a luxury resort, but we walked away with not one complaint.Never had an issue getting a palapa (never bothered to wait in line for one either) after about 12, people started leaving the beach so there were plenty to choose from. The beach has the most shade that I saw at any resort and the beach was beautiful as you could wish for - blue but not crystal clear (which I knew going in, but my husband was surprised by).

Room Tip: don't even bother with an oceanfront, our ocean view was basically oceanfront.
