“Planning my next trip”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

My boyfriend and I just returned from a week at the Boardwalk Hotel in Aruba and I can't say enough good things about it. This is not a resort hotel and you shouldn't expect resort amenities but you also don't get resort crowds and resort noise. What you get is a large room with a separate bedroom (or rooms if you book a larger place) and bathroom. A well equipped kitchen, a private patio with hammock, a charcoal grill and the nicest staff I've met at a hotel.

The hotel is a block off of the beach. They provide you with a cooler, folding chairs, beach towels and snorkel masks. From here, you can explore the island (we rented a car and while you don't have to have one, it gave us the freedom to go anywhere we wanted). If you want to do nothing, walk down to the beach to the MooMba club, grab a lounge chair (free for Boardwalk guests) and enjoy the music.

We took the staff's suggestions on places to visit including beaches to see the best fish and restaurants. All were spot on.

If you're looking for a resort with tons of amenities, this is probably not your best choice. If you're looking for an incredibly peaceful and tranquil oasis, this is the best place I can think of.

We will definitely be returning to Boardwalk.

Room Tip: We were in Casita #1. While you could hear a little road noise, we found it very quiet and spacious...

Dear Tsotraveler,

Thank you for staying with us and posting a detailed and positive review! Boardwalk offers a unique, private and relaxing alternative to the larger chain resorts of Palm Beach. With spacious casitas, an intimate and authentic atmosphere and insight into the local scoop, we attract travelers looking for a true Aruba experience vacation. How wonderful to read that the both of you enjoyed Aruba and the Boardwalk experience tremendously. Delighted to read that you and your boyfriend are already planning your next trip! We look forward to welcoming you back!

Sunny greetings,
Kimberly Rooijakkers

Our family of four recently spent 10 days at Boardwalk Aruba. The owners, Stephanie and Kimberly, have done a wonderful job making this boutique hotel into a beautiful tropical oasis.
We found that the newly remodeled casitas were the perfect place to make our home while visiting the friendly island of Aruba. The interiors were bright, cheery, and nicely decorated. With the included Weber grill, refrigerator, and cooktop, we were able to make some great meals to enjoy on our private patio surrounded by the lush gardens and palm trees at Boardwalk.
During our stay we got to know Kimberly and her staff (Alice and Thom) quite well. They were always willing to help with dining, rental car, and excursion recommendations and reservations (both during our stay and prior to our arrival).
When you visit the amazing beaches of Aruba, Boardwalk has coolers, beach chairs, snorkel gear, towels, and sand toys for the kids that you can borrow. If you’re just going across the street to Palm Beach (a very short walk), you can grab a lounge chair over at MooMba free of charge.
If you’re looking for an uninspired, cookie-cutter experience, you can certainly stay across the street in one of the high rise hotels. As for us, we’ll be staying at Boardwalk when we return to Aruba!

Room Tip: I don't think you can really go wrong here...all of the casitas at Boardwalk seem to be laid out...

The Boardwalk is like an oasis in Aruba. From a distance you can see the palm trees and green vegetation surrounding the "casitas" (little houses) amongst the dry landscape. The big hotels stand tall, but there is nothing like the Boardwalk. It is clean, super cozy, relaxing and beautiful. I loved the little notes that the friendly staff leave for us, weather it was a warm welcome to Aruba or inviting us to share some punch in the evening. The owners and staff are very thoughtful... We arrived late at night and they had some delicious lemonade in the refrigerator waiting for us. The beach is walking distance and really close to enjoying all kinds of watersports kitesufing, windsurfing and stand up paddle boarding. The pool area is beautifully surrounded by vegetation and perfect for cooling down and the hammocks are the best for some relaxation time. I highly recommend this hotel, loved it!

Dear Meli-Gil,

Thanks a million for your lovely review!
The team and I are delighted that you loved your stay at Boardwalk Hotel and that you enjoyed the surroundings, gardens, pool area and hammock. We appreciate you highlighting our location and its closeness to the island's best kiteboarding and windsurfing spot.

My friend and I stayed here for a week in June. Everything about the Boardwalk was wonderful from the friendly greeting when you arrive, the cute bungalows with beachy modern decor, the short walk to the beach...I could go on.

The bungalows are decorated really well, they are spacious and comfortable. The location of the Boardwalk is less than 5 minutes from the end of Palm Beach so a very easy walk to go for dinner etc in the evenings.

We hired a car and visited lots of different beaches on the recommendation of the staff who were also very helpful with restaurant advice.

The beach towels, deck chairs, snorkelling equipment and cool boxes for your use during your stay are examples of the 'at home' feel you get when staying in the Boardwalk.

Definitely want to return here, we had an amazing time.

Room Tip: We stayed in #7 by the pool. It was quiet as not many people use the pool and it has a BBQ. It did...

Dear NoodleheadSurrey,

First of all, thank you for your WONDERFUL and comprehensive review!

With the recent renovations and decorations we focused on creating a vacation place for our guests to feel the relaxing Aruba vibes whilst enjoying their time in and around their casita. We are very happy to hear you liked the beach style decorations! Casita 7 did not have a hammock until recently, however, new hammocks are on their way from Mexico. Casita 7 will get a comfortable seating hammock.

We want you and your friends to stay with us again as well! Hopefully until soon!

Warm regards,
Kimberly Rooijakkers

What can I say I have never stayed at a place so cozy, clean and comfortable! Everyone who woks there is nothing but friendly. The place it self is beautiful and perfect. It is no question the nicest place I have stayed in manny years. I travel the world and am a Professional Athlete and I would never stay anywhere else in Aruba but the Boardwalk Hotel! I recommend it all. It made my trip to Aruba every bit worth it. If you have a family there is a pool. If you are single it is quiet and cozy there is something for everyone! Can't wait to go back! Kindly, Damien LeRoy

Amazing. I've been traveling to Aruba over 40 years and I cant believe I didn't know this gem existed. These two young sisters have taken over this enclave of 14 units and made it into a oasis in the desert. The attention to detail, the fresh look, friendly, efficient staff. The pool is in the middle of a garden. They provide beach towels, chairs and have reciprocity with Moomba beach to use their lounges and get a discount there. Can't rave about it enough. Personal service. They even brought lemonade to our room the first night. 10+

First trip to Aruba and very glad that we decided to stay at Boardwalk rather than one of the high-rise hotels. Stayed at another hotel for one night after visiting Bonaire and Curacao, returning through Aruba before heading back home, and it served to put into perspective just how nice Boardwalk really was.

The property was lovely - the casitas make you feel like you are coming home after a day adventuring around the island. Staff was also great - very accommodating and friendly.

It's only a ~5 minute walk to the beach, so don't let the fact that it's not beach-front deter you.

If/when we make it back, will definitely stay here again.
