“Perfect Pier for Sunset, Bands, Pub Food & Good People!”
Reviewed December 11, 2013

The relaxing atmosphere, colorful pier, good happy hour and great bands - make this a pier to visit for pub food and good drinks. Dance the night away to one of the bands - enjoy lunch or watch the sunset with a drink - it is laid back and fun! They were so helpful in hosting our post-wedding party - Myrthe and her staff go above and beyond to help! And they are always smiling! You should definitely include this stop on your itinerary. The food is not going to wow you but its good and the environment is perfect for a Caribbean night! Enjoy! We love it as a couple because we have fun! You are outdoors, on the water, great Aruban Breeze, fun staff, cold drinks - what more could you ask for? We think that can be romantic but i rated it lower as by definition its not candlit dinner! And its pub food - but we love that too!! the pizzas were great after a long wedding night! and hot!

“Beach Bar Perfection in Paradise!”
Reviewed December 8, 2013

My husband and I just returned from a 5 night trip to Aruba. We stayed at the Divi Aruba Phoenix which was within walking distance to Bugaloe. From the moment we scoped this bar at the end of a pier while standing on the beach, we knew we had found something special! Bugaloe is surrounded on three sides by water, and from a table or bar stool you can keep tabs on all that is going on at the beach and on the water. The staff is absolutely top notch--especially Suze!!!! We enjoyed it so much, we made it the high point of our day to go there for lunch and stay for cocktails while planning out the remainder of our journey.

The food is beach casual, but absolutely delicious. My husband had the grouper sandwich each day, certain that you couldn't possibly find anything better. I sampled the mozzarella sandwich, goat cheese sandwich, nachos, wings, and yes--finally the grouper sandwich. Each item was very fresh and wonderful. The Aruban beer, Balashi, poured freely...though some days I was in more of a "Rum Runner" mood. The staff is friendly and attentive. We made a lot of new friends with both the staff and other patrons.

Bugaloe has a food and drink special each day, offered at a discounted price. Coming from New York, we found all of the prices on the menu to be quite reasonable. They offered free music several nights while we were there. The only downside is the Bugaloe does not have its own bathroom facilities--but there was a public bathroom at the end of the pier that was impeccably clean (just make sure you have fifty cents to get in!)

My husband and I hope to one day return to Aruba, and you can rest assured Bugaloe will be one of our first stops. If you are in the area, do not hesitate to stop in for a friendly, refreshing cocktail and yummy meal.

“great setting, so-so bar”
Reviewed December 7, 2013

A beautiful setting on Palm Beach, with lovely views of the water, but anywhere else it would be a humdrum bar.

Drinks were very sweet, nothing special. A grouper wrap was light on the grouper, but acceptable.

Bar service was surprisingly slow for the small number of orders in progress, and staff weren't attentive unless flagged down. There's a $20 credit card minimum that wasn't disclosed (a bit annoying if you just want a couple of cheap drinks, and aren't carrying cash since it is the beach after all).

Yes, the views of the water and sunset are lovely, but you can see that from the beach, or just by walking out onto the pier. Maybe get cheaper happy-hour drinks here, but this place did not inspire a return visit.

A great pier restaurant overlooking the ocean. Lots of sun and shade for those really hot days. Great choice of menu items where the food taste great. Great hospitality!
