Scala is located in the Paseo Herencia Mall on a second floor level with outside seating available. We chose to sit outside and our seats overlooked the boulevard bustling with tourists, cars, and horse drawn carriages. There was a public lounging area on the boulevard across from Starbucks. Unfortunately, smoking was permitted in the lounge area, and occasionally during dinner the smell of smoke drifted up to our table. There was an extended family seated at a large table near the front door, and the "adults" felt it was ok to allow their young children to scream and wrestle all over the floor. I would have appreciated it if the management had controlled this. I would have given this visit 3 stars, but the food and service was so very good! The lamb was prepared at the perfect medium rare temperature. The balsamic mint jelly and rosemary sauce was delicate. Perfect! The escargot was in a delectable puff pastry. Wine selection was good. The strip steak was a little tough, probably grass fed. That was fine, because the red wine and mushroom sauce was so delicious I kept dipping my potato into it, as well. The staff was attentive, and the service impeccable, silent, and somewhat formal. I prefer that in a higher end restaurant. While a little pricey, it was a good value.
