“Perfect Honeymoon”
Reviewed August 31, 2011

Stayed at Manchebo for 8 nights for our honeymoon in ocean front room #73 (great view of the sea from the bed) ! Go there for the BEACH, it is magnificent. We explored other beaches but always ended up back to Manchebo. Perfect white sandy beach, no problem to get a sunbed, first row from the sea and nice cold drinks brought to you ! What would you more ? Massages ? Just in the hut next door, so good we had the couple massage twice ! Great Churrasco in the French Steakhouse with nice wine ! Get the all-inclusive, it's worth it ! People working there are friendly and efficient ! Basically i would say if you want a quiet, relaxing, far away from all holiday in low rise area... go there ! If not go somewhere else !!!

Thank you for a great review and the compliments. Perfect Honeymoon says it all. Glad you enjoyed all of the treats that we offer while staying at the resort. Guests receive an orange flag when they seat themselves under their beach palapa. When you are ready for your first pina coloda or passion fruit daiquiri simply post your flag and our ever smiling beach cocktail waitress Alejandra will be at your service. The massages at spa del sol overlooking Aruba's widest stretch of beach are a super special treat as well. Looking forward to welcome you back on your anniversary next time.

My husband and I just returned from four extremely relaxing days at Manchebo. I can not agree more with the previous reviewer who said it was certainly not a con that there wasn't anything to do- that is also exactly what we were looking for. And anyone that goes to Manchebo and is surprised that there isn't alot to do didn't do their research. We loved our room, which was an oceanfront and had an amazing view of the ocean and sunset. Everyone who worked there was extremely friendly and we enjoyed our breakfasts, but lunch was okay. I only wish there was more of a fitness center versus just a treadmill, but that's only because I like to work out regularly. Having been to Aruba several times before, and normally staying at a timeshare, I found it more relaxing staying at a smaller place and not having to worry about getting a palapa. Everyday we were able to sit right in front of the ocean in the exact same spot. The weather was perfect everyday, although no wind, which is unusual for Aruba. And I think the best part of our trip was the fruit basket and sparkling wine that was waiting for us in our room when we first checked in. I had mentioned we were celebrating our tenth anniversary and they actually remembered that as not only did we have the fruit and wine waiting for us, but they also left a little card congratulating us on our tenth anniversary. That was the nicest way to start our vacation. We will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: Definitely recommend oceanview/oceanfront room

Thank you for taking the time to share you trip comments on your recent anniversary at our resort. Good to hear you loved our newly renovated hotel rooms. Besides the bedroom we did an extreme make-over of the bathroom featuring a zero-entry shower area with a wonderful rainfall shower, great fig & olive lotions and soaps just to name a few. Wanted to let you know that the fitness room will be upgraded as well this coming year. Hope you will make it back for your 11th anniversary next year.

We enjoyed fantastic 8 days in the Manchebo Hotel that offers the most beautiful white sand beach. The recent renovated "colonial style" Hotel offers a very relaxing ambiance (Massage, SPA, Yoga....) . Very clean with modern bathroom. To mention that all the staff, from front desk to restaurants, are extremely welcoming, friendly and warm-hearted.
No doubt, we come back !

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. It was exactly what we needed.

I don't think this place is for everyone, but my husband and I have traveled quite a bit and don't expect nor require a Little America everywhere we go; we're very flexible. We've also had a horribly stressful year and took this trip to get a break from our two small children and reconnect. If you fit this description, then don't go to the high-rises! Stay HERE!

We were also very lucky to stay at Manchebo when half of the hotel was under renovation, so it was only halfway occupied. This helped provide the one thing that we spent so much money and traveled so far to find: QUIET. It was quiet at night; no drunk people or kids running around outside. Quiet during the day, with a nearly empty (and amazing) beach. It was heaven. There were also few enough guests that we got to know many of the staff during our stay. A typical exchange: Sandra, the concierge, was helping another couple book a tour while I waited to ask her a question. She helped them for quite a while, and when she finally got to me, she reached out her hand for mine to apologize. I thought this was such a sweet and personal gesture. The front desk people, the security guards, the waitresses, the women at the spa-- everyone was wonderful.

The building itself, on the outside, is a bit... local and cinderblock-y. It's not fancy. The fitness room was utilitarian (but still, everything worked!). But our room was perfect. Gorgeous bathroom. Very comfortable bed. Nice furniture, new microwave and fridge. Very prompt housekeeping by an incredibly lovely staff.

On our third day we ventured up to the high-rise area to see what the other hotels were like. We were somewhat horrified. The crowds! Oh, the humanity-- clogging up every conceivable space on the street, in the (chain) restaurants, on the beaches, in the pools. The crowds, the noise, the kids, the chaos-- who can relax there? We couldn't wait to get back to our quiet little oasis.

Before booking the trip, someone's review listed a "con" as "boring, not much to do." That was what sold it for us. Not a con.

The only thing that could be improved at Manchebo is the food. Breakfast was okay, but lunch from the cafe was so-so. We eventually found our favorites (fish tacos and the fish sandwich, grilled) but still, not great. As a former chef I'd love to revamp their menu and teach the cooks a thing or two.

If you really want to get away from it all... not to sightsee, just to get some serious peace and quiet on a breathtaking beach... this is the place.

My husband and I picked Manchebo for our honeymoon (just returned) and we were not disappointed. The beach was spacious, soft and lovely. Staff from front desk, restaurants, spa and all aspects were warm-hearted, friendly and welcoming. French Steakhouse was exceptional, spa couples massage was a real treat. Our room was newly renovated and lovely. The complex, especially the facade and reception area, is older and smaller than high rises, and is not for those looking for a lot of frills, but it's full of charm and well kept. Sunset views could not be beat. Bagel shop on corner was great for breakfast and lunch sandwiches when you wanted to take a walk. We opted not to do the all inclusive as we do not drink alcohol and wanted to try a variety of spots recommended by friends. This worked out well for us. Overall location was perfect and centrally located. We used the bus to go downtown and to high rise area, taxi other trips and rented a car one day. A special thank you to the front desk staff member who offered her sneakers so I could go horseback riding--a kindness you would hardly, if ever, see in the US. Manchebo staff really deserve the compliments!!

Manchebo is a quiet resort on the best beach in Aruba. Plenty of palapas for guest. The rooms have been renovated and are very nice especially the rain shower in the bathroom. The staff goes out of there way to help you whenever you need it and they always have a smile for you. We had a problem with out air conditioner not keeping the room cool but within an hour of our call they had it fixed and running perfectly. French Steakhouse was excellent also other good restaurants within walking distance. There was a car rental desk in the lobby & we rented from them (Top Drive) and it was a good experience. Kudos to Manchebo's staff and management.
