My wife and I have had Aruba on our bucket list for a long time. We booked this hotel and the airfare (Delta from JFK) separately. From the moment we arrived we were treated very well. Our room was not quite ready when we arrived so the front desk watched our bags as we slipped into beach clothes using the lobby washroom. Welcome drink in hand we were pointed in the direction of the beach and the immediate amenities of the hotel.

A short time later we were shown to our room which was booked as a Superior Studio but we ended up getting a Two bedroom Suite upgrade without even asking (Room 201). Very impressed! Our suite was modern, spacious, and had all the comforts of home. Our house keeper was in our room daily and did a great job for us during our stay. We were always on the go while we were there and actually never seen her in our room. I actually made a point to ask who our housekeeper was so I could meet her and give her a nice tip.

Our room had a nice kitchen with all the basics. With the huge food store located so close we opted out of the AI package and looked after our own meals. We found it made perfect sense to cook breakfast in the room and then head to the pool. After, we would come back for a sandwich for lunch, shower up and head out to explore the island. Our dinners were always away from the hotel except our last night. The last night we had reservations at Passions on the beach. This is an experience you owe to yourself. We had an excellent meal here and some great pictures front row centre with the daily sunset.

After being on the island for a few days we came to realize just how nice it was to visit Palm Beach and then be able to leave all that behind and retreat to our quiet and peaceful hotel.

Kind of hard writing this review and letting you all know about this place, I would rather it be here for just my wife and I to enjoy. One thing for sure, If you book this property you will not be disappointed. We met a friend while in Aruba who said to us, First time visitor, "Welcome to Aruba" second time visitor, " Welcome back to Aruba" third time visitor, " Welcome home". We are working on getting back here real soon.

Room Tip: Lower level studios in front of the pool are nice. We had a second storey two bedroom suite room 201...

From the very moment you walk into the lobby it's a great experience.
Friendly staff, free welcoming drink, great location.
This was our second time staying at the Amsterdam Manor and they have really updated the place.
The beach can't be beat. The mini-mart onsite is very helpful.
The bartender at Horizon's- Peter was the BEST! I loved my Chi Chi drinks.
We ate at Passions on the Beach - a truly romantic setting and the food was delicious.

We will come back!

Room Tip: Spend the extra money for a suite if you can swing it.

Amsterdam Manor has a lovely ambiance about it. We felt comfortable here during our entire visit. The gardens and design of the buildings are extraordinary. Everyone managed to make us feel special even though they see many guests each year.

The location was about as close as you can get to Eagle Beach. Rooms were nice and clean, staff friendly. Grocery store only a couple blocks away. Our bathroom was a little tight. Our first evening to go out to dinner we went north where the taller, newer hotels where with more of the dining and shops. I had kinda wish we'd stayed in that area until I realized I'd be fighting for a good spot on the beach in the morning with the taller hotels and all their patrons. We never ran into a problem getting lounge chairs and most of the time it was with a beach hut. I can always drive or ride the bus to the restaurants but Amsterdam Manor has the perfect beach!

On our recent visit to Aruba we had planned to stay at "The Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino" but upon our arrival they did not have our reservation which was paid for in advance through "Jetsetter", (please see my recent review of "The Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino"). As it turns out this was a gift! Upon our arrival and throughout our entire stay at "The Amsterdam Manor", each and every person we came in contact with went out of their way to provide us with the most memorable and extraordinary vacation possible. From the minute we walked into the lobby we were greeted with a warm smile and a delicious rum punch. The gentleman who greeted us handled our bags quickly and gave us a friendly tour of the resort. Our room was spacious and immaculate, the kitchenette was perfect for us to have some snacks and beverages on hand. The housekeeping staff members are meticulous at keeping the rooms and the entire resort in pristine condition. We ate at "Mango's" for breakfast almost every morning as it is so convenient and the buffet is so fresh and everything is delicious. I honestly cannot say enough about the hospitality of this resort. I have never experienced such personal attention, they treat their guests as family. While we were there over 5 nights they arranged to have a lovely bottle of champagne delivered to our room for our wedding anniversary, they helped us pull together an impromptu dinner on the beach while we watched a movie under the stars, they held the restaurant open just a few minutes later so we could have a late night snack, there is nothing that we asked of them that they did not do AND they did it graciously. We are so grateful to all of the staff at "The Amsterdam Manor" and will look forward to returning again sometime in the future.

This was our 8th trip to Aruba, and our first time staying at Amsterdam Manor. We have previously stayed at Bucuti, Tara Suites, Renaissance and Manchebo. Although Amsterdam was ok, we would not return. I booked a 2 bedroom suite only because that was only room with a "distant ocean view". The view, unfortunately was blocked for the most part by a large concrete wall. There were chaises and a table and chairs on the balcony, but basically un-usable unless you enjoy sitting within a small concrete box. The gentleman who helped us with our bags stressed that we do not turn off the air conditioning and that the room needed to be kept cool at all times. Signs are also posted next to every thermostat with the same warning. I quickly learned why....extreme condensation. I hate air conditioning and come to Aruba to be warm! We left Wisconsin for a reason! But, if the thermostat was set higher than 75, there would be a thick layer of condensation on the floor. Pretty much wore flip flops the whole time in the room because the floor was always a little damp. No dehumidifiers I guess? The room was clean, and the kitchen was handy, although a bit dated. There is a stove, but no oven, so options are limited for actually cooking meals. Housekeeping was ok, although not consistent. There was trash already in the trash can upon arrival, which I know isn't a big deal, but you kind of expect a clean room. One day we were given only 1 washcloth between 2 bathrooms. Coffee was not replenished so we had to buy a cup of black coffee at Mangos for $3! Our room also backed up to the maintenance area, so we were awoken every morning at 7am to the sounds of shoveling ice and other equipment, as well as staff conversing with each other. The staff overall was pleasant, but not overly friendly. The concierge may not always be up to date on events as we asked about the Bon Bini festival and Carrubian festival which she gave us dates and times and locations for, however neither were actually going on while we were there. We asked about renting a car and this particular concierge seemed hesitant and almost annoyed to help us with this, saying "It's very hard to find a car during the high season". But in the end she did find a car for us. The worst experience at Amsterdam was the beach situation. The beach itself is nice, which is one of the reasons we decided to try this resort, however the attendants were downright rude. Our first morning on the beach, he ignored my husbands attempts to get him to unlock the chairs, which for some reason are all locked up to the palapas. When he finally did help (very reluctantly) he "assigned" us to a palapa that we did not want, informing us that all the others were taken (they were all empty). We had to obtain our own towels and sun beds. The same thing happened the next day, so on the third day my husband asked him what the deal was, and why we couldn't sit under the empty palapas closest to the ocean. The attendant then went on a tangent about how much he hates his job and what hard work it is and how he doesn't get along with the other attendant. After he vented he told him that the "reserved" palapas are for the "regulars". Well they weren't very regular....one day pretty much the entire front row was empty until mid-afternoon! Not very fair to the beach goers like us who are out there at 8am. Other beaches we have been at in Aruba have been first come first serve and that's that. One afternoon we left our chairs for 90 minutes for massages, when we got back our stuff had been removed and new people were there! One evening we stayed to watch the sunset on the beach with a bottle of wine. We were having a lovely time until, literally within seconds of the sun setting, the attendant came to lock up our chairs. Talk about a mood killer! I didn't know chair theft was such a problem in Aruba. So the whole thing just didn't make sense and made the beach my least favorite. The beach bar had good food and drinks, but the bartenders always seemed upset and fighting amongst themselves, spilling over into rudeness towards customers. A lot of tension, which is not enjoyable to vacationers. We did eat at Passion's on the beach which was very nice (we had eaten there in the past) although the food was not quite as good as other restaurants. I do give Amsterdam kudos for allowing us to stay in our room an extra 2 hours before checking out and heading back home. So, in the end it was ok, but not a place we will return to next year.
