“Beach and pool way to small”
Reviewed March 29, 2005

Just returned from 6day stay, first time at the Hyatt,4th time in Aruba. Weather sensational as always. Very nice accomadations, however if you are looking for space at the beach or around the pool - FORGET IT. The staff assigns chairs and huts starting as 7am(no sooner) for the pool and at the beach. You CAN NOT just go and get chairs for the day first thing in the morning. We did not even go to the pool area because you are inches away from the next chair, and there is a 12" walkway at the bottom of your chair for people to walk through. This is around the entire pool no matter where you go! My husband got up a couple of mornings to get a hut on the beach, was there in line at 5am, and he was not even the first one in line. Ridiculous!!!! For the size of the Hyatt - the pool and beach area are way, way too small. Have stayed at the Divi and LaCabana, both beat the Hyatt by far for Beach and Poolside comfort!!!!

Just returned from the Hyatt for the sixth consecutive year and wouldn't look or stay at any other hotel, the staff is like family to us, the Aruba people are so warm and friendly and the hotel is beautiful. The restaurants in the Hyatt are wonderful and there are so many on the island that are also wonderful, you just have to go to see for yourself.

Look forward to returning again Feb. 2006.

We went with 2 other couples on November 16th for 6 nights. We were told it never rains in Aruba. But it did. We made our own fun with volleyball in the pool. Yes it rained but it was a warm rain. We made the best of a situation that no one has control of. Each day, we did see the sun. I have to say the Hyatt tried their best to pick up the spirts of their guest. Each rainy day they had something in the lobby. Free water, beer and snacks. This made it fun as the band played. I laughed when I read the sign that said RAIN RAIN GO AWAY. I thought the hotel was great. Our first night we left a 5.00 tip for housekeeping. The rest of our stay our service was WONDERFUL. We had a cooler in our room and each day, they empited it and refilled it with ice. We really didn't eat much at hotel. Mornings were coffee at Dunkin donuts, lunch was the blackend Chicken sandwich at the swim up bar. (Try it, it's the best!) and dinners we went out around town. We got a Visit Aruba card before we arrived. It gave us discounts off different resturants and trips. We saved over 400.00 with a 10.00 card. It help our group. I will defintely go back to the hyatt. Everyone I dealt with was wonderful. Our room faced the ocean. Love the view. The pool was great. Only promblem with chairs was last day. Some rude people trying to save 20 chairs. Not very nice, but it was vacationer not a Hyatt personal. I will be back very soon. The water, the beach and the hotel makes Aruba my favorite vacation spot.

Our second trip to the Hyatt and to Aruba was even more enjoyable than our first trip which was definitely NOT LONG ENOUGH!! After many trips to several tropical vacations spots, Aruba by far exceeds other vacation places. First of all, Aruba is a very safe, clean island. The people there are very friendly. No one ever had their hand out for a tip. The hair braiders on the beach were tasteful and non-pushy. The people in Aruba are very content. Their peace is definitely conveyed to all the tourists.

Had a great time at the Hyatt, once again. The staff there was wonderful.
A special employee named Xiomara guaranteed our two rooms together and gave us special treatment since we were return guests. Thank you to her and all the staff for a great week.

The Hyatt restaurants were all great. My husband and I did the "Pampered in Paradise" dinner on the beach. How romantic to enjoy a delicious dinner as the sun sets. The Palms restaurant had a fajita night with great food and a live Mariachi band. What a hit!

Every night there was a live band, kareoke, gambling. We were very content enjoying the great music and fun. Our four kids totally enjoyed the pool, restaurants, and very friendly Arubian people. We walked the beach at night and found the Hyatt was the only hotel with any life at night.
Its multiple pools, great entertainment, and outstanding and friendly service are all the reasons the Hyatt is a five star hotel. The service in every restaurant was exceptional. The tropical drinks were delicious.

Twice this week we charted the Morningstar Aruba, a sailboat with continuous food, snorkeling, and fishing. Very relaxing, beautiful, and fun.
We also did the Red Sail Sports' sunset cruise.

In town, we did the Atlantic submarine ride that took us 150 below sea level. How beautiful the tropical fish were.

We still cannot say enough kind things about the Hyatt. The beautiful view of the landscape, pools, and ocean made the Hyatt lobby so inviting. We were all really sad to leave again. Our rooms were very clean. The sheets on our beds were changed daily. Room service never took more than 20 minutes. The bell stand always sent someone up to our room within two minutes. The breakfast buffet was too delicious. We enjoyed this a few times. Ruinas del Mar has some great dishes and appetizers. (avocado salad, pumpkin soup, lobster tail.....) Even the food ordered by the pool was delicious. (calamari, veg. wrap....)

This hotel was immaculately clean. The service in every restaurant was perfect. The food was delicious. The beach and pool were never that crowded. We always got chairs or a hut whenever we wanted. We were there on President's week. Even though there were more people there than the last time, the Hyatt handled everything smoothly. No wait at check in or check out.

Hope this review is helpful to anyone thinking of going to the Hyatt.
You will not be dissappointed. Bring expandable clothing. The food is so delicious!!

Let me start by saying how much we appreciate reading other peoples opinions over the past several months. These reviews absolutely contributed to the success of our trip. Aruba has instantly become one of my top two tropical destinations (along with Maui) easily surpassing locales like Cancun and the Bahamas. I can understand why it wouldn't be for everyone. If your looking for a sleepy island with alot of lush tropical scenery and alot of tour stops or an all night party place like Cancun you may want to consider another option. But if you love to hang out by some of the worlds most prestine beaches; drink cocktails in some great surroundings; explore the city without worrying about crime; enjoy some oustanding cuisine and even gamble a little. I guarantee Aruba is for you.

Just to simplify I will break down my opinions by category.

Hyatt- As with most people it became clear with my personal tastes for a resort type of atmosphere that there are 3 that stand above the rest (Hyatt, Radisson, Marriott). Any would be a fine choice for location and amenities. That being said I would absolutely rank the Hyatt as the best of the three if money is not a big concern. Despite featuring only average rooms (small with tiny balconies) the facility itself is on par with nearly any five star resort in the Carribean. The pool is by far the best on Aruba and very similiar to the Hyatts Maui facility in my opinion. We hit Happy Hour every night watching the sunset at Piets Pier Bar. Its an absolute must even if you don't stay at the Hyatt. Make sure to ask for Luz when you go because she eptimizes the geniune friendliness that Aruba is all about.
Likewise all service provided at the Hyatt is top notch. The pool and beach can be crowded but its EASILY managable and there is absolutely no reason to wake up at 7 AM to claim a spot. Just my opinion.

Food- Without question the overall selection of great restaraunts lived up to the hype. I can't emphasize enough the need to avoid all inclusives on Aruba. We would have missed out on ALOT had we not sampled from a wide variety of restaraunts.

Madam Janettes was my personal favorite. Although not anywhere near the beach it combined a terrific atmosphere with out of this world food.

Driftwood features seafood that is said to have been caught daily by the owner. This place is almost in an alley in downtown Orejanstad so it doesn't feature the greatest location or atmosphere. But the service was the absolute best of any establishment on the island. Likewise the seafood was outstanding.

Flying Fishbone is almost all about the surrounding. How can you beat dining ON the beach with the small surf dangling at your feet. Everyone should hit this place once.

Hyatt Sunday Brunch also lived up to its billing. Again whether you stay at the Hyatt or not I would recommend taking a few hours out of your day on Sunday to make it here.

Iguana Joes is a good place to go for lighter fare if you want to do some people watching downtown. Nothing special though.

Aruban people- This may be what sets Aruba apart from the rest of the Carribean. The people here are geniunely nice. There really isn't any better way to describe them.

Casinos- Very Americanized. Every casino I went to offered free drinks while you played and a much more friendly Las Vegas type of playing atmosphere than is usually available in the Carribean. What I liked most was the casinos here are far more understated and isolated enough that if you have no interest in them. You will hardly even notice they are there.

Avoid the hassles of flying-instead get on a packed NYC subway car in August and hand out $50 bills to every panhandler-this is how you will feel while staying at this Hyatt Hotel. The rooms are in need of a makeover, there is not enough room on the beach and if you want a chair on the beach-be prepared to pay up to $50 to get one.
There are better islands and hotels!

I stayed at the Hyatt in Aruba and found it great. I have been to many hotels (Hyatt Grand Cayman, Westin St.John, Ceaser Park Cancun, etc.) and I found the Hyatt as the best. The beach was about five feet away from the resort. Nice rooms and a couple big pools with a waterslide. Also they had a deliscious breakfast buffet. Also with good restaraunts. (Unless you won the lottery don eat at the sunset grille at the Raddisson, $400 dollars for 4 people.) So I say people are just hard to please. I stayed here three years in a row and I loved it. So, stay here.
