This was our first trip to Aruba and we are loyal Hyatt guests... once again, they did not disappoint. Beautiful, beautiful property! We walked along the beach and went to several other properties, and the Hyatt is the most beautiful property. Staff is always pleasant and helpful! You can never go wrong staying at a Hyatt! And it's a must if you are going to Aruba!

This was our second trip to Aruba. The Hyatt is nice, but there is nothing special about it - when we travel out of the country, we like to feel like we are someplace special. The rooms are nice, but just typical hotel rooms. You cannot sit on the balconies. Lounge chairs with some shade are taken around the pool well before sunrise. After the first day, we figured out what chairs are shaded by the palm trees and headed for those. On the plus side, we never had any problems finding chairs at the pool or beach. The location is great - right in the middle of the Palm Beach area. Food was okay, but not worth the cost. We walked to local restaurants for all our meals - great food is just a short walk away.

Room Tip: Some rooms on the third floor have only windows, no sliding doors. Makes the room feel like any ho...

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous - the views are outstanding, wherever your room is. The layout is perfect and nothing is too far away. The pool is a fun place to be, for sure - and the beach was just amazing.

We were here in March 2014, and didn't find any issues at ALL with finding chairs at either the pool or beach - and we wandered out there at 10-11 a.m. every day. The staff is always willing to help you find the right place to be on the beach and they will drag your chairs/towels there! Remember to give them a little tip though, to be nice and fair :)

The day events at the pool are cute - but the 2 p.m. Bingo every.single.day is annoying. The Bingo number caller uses a microphone and it's so loud and quite a nuisance. You could almost play from your room :) If you take a walk down the beach to the other resorts, you'll see them doing water aerobics and volleyball. I'd like to see the Hyatt incorporate activities like that, to cater to their younger demographic a bit.

The food is just OK, in my opinion. It's extremely expensive to stay at this resort, so I would like to see improvements in the food. I got sick one night, after eating the fish ceviche and a pork dish. I know a few others in our group who got sick, as well. The breakfast buffet is OK - the butter sits out in a big bowl with two knives and it kind of skeeves me out. The scrambled eggs are powdered eggs - and always runny. I recommend an omelet from the omelet station, if you want eggs. Lunch is lacking, as well, and VERY $$$$. Many of the options are the same from the room service menu.

BUT - if you want REALLY good food for an amazing value - go off the resort. It's 110% safe to walk around at any time, and there are soooo many restaurants in walking distance. We ate at an amazing mexican place - two people with three cocktails between us = $45.

That all said, the Hyatt Regency is most definitely the most gorgeous hotel in the area.

First family vacation in Aruba. First room smokey and loud, above the bar/band. Not conducive for 6/10 year olds sleep. Requested move. They quickly moved us to 7th floor ocean view. Lovely view and room. Extremely quiet and smoke free. The remainder of our trip was phenomenal. The staff.. Cordelia and Orlando at the pool and beach bar were warm and gracious and fun! The ladies in the coffee shop made my 6 year and my morning visits a delight! The water slide was awesome. The food amazing! Fish tacos! Mango mohitos! The best ever. The birds and iguanas and nesting black swans were intriguing every day. The grounds manicured. The red sail water sports crew provided safe adventures for my boys that gave us memories to last a lifetime. Rarely do I say this but we will be back in 2015. Counting the days!

We are loyal Hyatt Regency repeat guests. We have always come to depend on a quality experience in staying in Aruba. Our last visit had many high points but a few new issues have arisen over the last year that had some negative impact on our stay. First the good points and there are many:
1. The hotel is perfectly situated
2. Almost all the staff are incredibly welcoming in all areas of the hotel- I cant say enough good things about them
3. The rooms are fairly large, comfortably furnished with a very good bed/mattress. Sleeping was great.
4. The casino was fun
5. We like the patio restraurant for lunch and Mexicado for dinner......both very good.
6. Housekeeping is very attentive
7. The pool area could be fun

Unfortunately, there are a few "cons"

1. The lounge chair situation at the pool is out of control. We are not exaggerating when we say that if you want a chair with some possibility of shade.......you have to get up at 5AM........yes, 5AM and wait in line until the hut opens at 630. The first day, we went down at 545 and there were already 20-25 people in line waiting.
2. The lounge chairs themselves are VERY uncomfortable. No pads at all. Several had broken straps. It really negatively impacted our stay by the pool. For a Hyatt Regency, not acceptable
3. The rooms have begun to look "worn". Scratches on the furniture.....dated fixtures. Just didnt look as fresh as when we first stayed at the Hyatt 3 years ago. The badly need revamped
4. Other than the Mexicado and the patio for lunch........the other choices are very underwhelming. The breakfast buffet was ok
5. The TV choices are very limited. We're not sure why in this day and age, there is not an option for "on demand" viewing. We ended up watching movies via Netflix on our laptop

What does all this mean for us in the end? I never thought we would stay anywhere but the Hyatt but after this last stay, I think we willl stay at the new Ritz Carlton down the beach. We spoke to a few guests on the beach and several had stayed at the Hyatt in the past and were very glad they had switched to the Ritz this year.

What would make us come back to the Hyatt........fix the lounge chair issues, on demand TV and revamp the rooms. However, I'm not optomistic that will happen

Room Tip: Many of the garden view have partial ocean views. The rooms in the middle directly facing the beach...

Stayed here in March 2014 and very much enjoyed the entire stay. The hotel itself is not too large, the perfect size for the area! Located on the best beach of the island. Ample amounts of restaurants are within walking distance.

Have nothing negative to say about the hotel other than it can be expensive, as with everything in Aruba. After touring the area, the Hyatt is definitely the best place to stay on Palm Beach.

My family and I stayed at the Hyatt in February 2014 and had an amazing time!

Arrival- Our flight landed at the only airport around noon. Customs was quick but we were one of the first ones off of New York Flight. Baggage claim was kind of cramped being in a small area. When you exit the airport there is an area to get taxis. They have a five to a taxi law so even it fits seven people only five can go in. The ride from the airport to the hotel was about 25 minutes long and our driver was nice telling us about the island. When we go there unfortunately our room was not ready. The "bellhops" who were waiting outside were extremely friendly. Especially Romeo who knew us by name and always said hello when he saw us throughout the week. While waiting for our room we went to lunch at Palms.

Room- We went away on a school break so the hotel was booked and we booked our vacation very last minute so we had to switch rooms. First we stayed in the Sunset Suite on the second floor. The room is very spacious but the bathroom had a frosted glass wall. You could see the shower through the room. You couldn't see the person showering but you could see their outline. Some of us chose to shower in the dark. Also, there is also no lock on the bathroom and it also the same frosted glass. Besides that the room is nice having one kind bed and a pull out sofa bed. It had a closet, safe, TV and a small table. The balcony was amazing with an excellent view! Our second room was a sunset suite the sixth floor. Our room was directly four floors up but the room was a little different. It didn't have the frosted shower glass (Thank god!). It did have a thin window but it had blinds and it was on the sink side. There was also a water closet but still no lock on the door. The view again was amazing. Also when we had to switch our rooms we just packed our bags, put our valuables in a safety deposit box and left everything in the closet and the hotel did the rest. We out on a Jeep Tour for the day and when we came back our bags were in the room and clothes in the closet.

Food/Shopping- The food was good. Some restaurants more expensive than others. Palms had lunch and dinner. We only at lunch there which was $21 dollars if you wanted the salad bar but the also had a menu. There was also a mexican restaurant which was good. They had another restaurant that did a buffet breakfast and a-la carte dinner which was nice. But on Sunday's they did a brunch the $52 a person (half price for kids). Which is pricey but Palms was also open for a buffet breakfast on Sunday. The bars/swim up bars were good and had their own menus. There was also a Protein Shake Bar that was really good. There was horrible service by the pool we only saw a waiter once! Except on our last day (of course) there was suddenly a waiter. I recommend some of the restaurants directly outside of the hotel. Daniels was a steak house down the road which was really good! Just walk right of the hotel and down the road either way and there is a ton of restaurant to choose from. There was 6 shops I believe. 2 jewelry stores (David Yurman was one of them), souvenir type shop, two clothing (I think), and a "general store." The shops were nice and convenient if you need snacks or sunscreen.

Pools/Beaches- The pools were nice but chairs are limited. People do get up at 6 am to reserve chairs. The pools were very well maintained. The beach is amazing with tons of water sports to try. The cabanas are also nice. One our friends rented a cabana for the week.

Security- Security is definitely a priority at the Hyatt. If you ever traveled to Aruba you know its public beach there is no private beach. So security is definitely everywhere making sure there is only guest at the resorts. We experienced no problems and on the upper floors there is security sitting in the hallways by the elevator. There is also security all over the grounds.
