“Best Deal for Large Hotel Resort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2011

We returned from Aruba trip ( 5/18-5/25/411) and stayed at the Hyatt on Palm Beach. Part of this stay was business and we added on 4 days for ourselves. We rate this resort to be a TOP 5 - for the price.

The people in Aruba were uniformly warm, friendly and just wonderful! This was especailly the case for the staff at the Hyatt. Everyone from the housekeeper to the waiter to the gentleman who managed the beachfront Towels/Tiki Hut reservations. This made this resort extra special.

We've stayed at 5 star Ritz Charltons, ( Maui and St Thomas) Westins ( Grand Cayman, Grand Bahamas and all over US), Marriotts ( all over US and ST Thomas), ( Casa de Campo (DRepbublic) and Caneel Bay ( St John USVI) and Little Dix Bay ( Virgin Gorda)..........so we've tried them besides renting homes/villas all over.
These are all top hotels and resorts.

But for the price we paid for the Hyatt, we know we got the BEST DEAL! Service, accommodations ( we got top floor beachfront- facing the western sunset with terrace) and ambiance and clleanliess and amenities were great given the price- that we paid for the Ritz Charltons. And the Ritz Charlton's are never on great beaches, not that the Hyatt had a great beach.

We traveled all over Aruba and the better beaches were NOT at the Hyatt or any of these hi-rise resorts.....far too crowded and filled with traffic ini the arter from all the motorized activities. This is our subjective preference..............we loved BABY BEACH and beaches where that are more secluded and w/o noise and empty.

Since we live and work in NYC, we prefer to be empty quiet beaches............not beaches like Palm/Eagle Beach.....but for the price we can't beat the Hyatt! For those who love lots of people, action with motorized sports, Palm /Eagle Beaches are it!

We prefer, EMPTY beaches where one can walk for miles and NOT see 1 other person and where one can walk from the shore and snorkel w/in 8 ft of water. This was not as common in Aruba or any of the big commercials islands where cruise ships dock.

We prefer beach in smaller more remote islands cush as Eleuthera (or other out islands in the Bahamas) Turks & Caicos, St john USVI and the British Virgin Islands. We realize this is only us and most folks love ACTION & PEOPLE , CASINOS, DIsCOS and ShOPPING. And Aruba certainly offered all this!

But again,if you love crowds, noise and action, ARUBA IS IT! And the the Hyatt and especially the PEOPLE of Aruba made the trip memorable!

P.S. We've been to Curacao 5 yrs ago and beaches might not be as expansive but more interesting landscape and less crowded. Bonaire might be less commercial but we understand Bonaire is great for diving and not much for snorkeling from their beaches.

I did not stay at the Hyatt but we did visit and played in the casino which I would consider to be one of the best 3 in town along with the Marriott and the Crystal Palace downtown.

After playing in the casino we went to look around outside mainly to see their pool because we thought we might consider the Hyatt for a future stay. The music on Sunday night May 22, 2011 was so good we decided to get a drink and stay for a while. There were two young guys in the group and the one that sang was so good that he is the reason for this review. I'm hoping the management will read this and keep those guys around. I would have stayed longer than we did but they quit at 10:00. They were great and I would recommend using them a lot! Kuddos to the Hyatt for the best entertainment I heard while in Aruba!

I've visited the Aruba Hyatt 3 times now. It is one of faves for sure. I use Aruba as the place to relax, re-fuel, and re-charge. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The food and drinks are pricey at the hotel but Aruba has a lot of great restaurants to try.
The beach is one of the best things, I think, about this hotel. I love just sitting on the beach under one of those palm frond umbrellas that they can only be reserved by guests of the hotel. I read 3 books in 4 days on this trip. I generally wake up early because I like the quiet before most people are awake. I reserve one of the beach umbrellas close to the water and then go to the breakfast buffet. I spend the whole morning relaxing and reading on the beach with my friends. In the morning they bring around these wireless call buttons which I use frequently - strawberry daquiries and cheeseburgers for lunch on the beach - its fabulous :) Aruba is so wonderful because there's always that lovely breeze. When I get hot I go in the water. I've done some of the water sports - rented a jet ski once and then I always go on one of the snorkeling boats - definitely reserve it in advance (check the what to do reviews for Aruba - there are some really good ones). Its a lovely restful vacation - just the thing for those messy winter months when its cold on the East coast to get a dose of sun and sand.

went with a bunch of friends and their parents and had the time of my life! bartenders are very nice, good room service, slept extremely well in my room. Internet isn't free which kind of sucks but your spending almost all of your spare time out in the sun anyways. Great location right on the beach with tons of activities right out on the sand

This was our second trip to Aruba, but first to the Hyatt and we would definitely return to stay at the Hyatt. It is in the perfect location on Palm beach and close to many good restaurants. We booked an ocean/pool view room and the view was fabulous. Stayed in room #517. Yes there aren't full balconies, but we don't spend too much time in the room anyway so it wasn't a big deal for us.

Had no trouble getting a palappa on the beach, but we usually busy early in the morning and didn't get to the beach til early afternoon. We don't usually spend too much time at the pool but we enjoyed the waterslide a few times.
The Hyatt casino was also our favorite to play at.

Overall, the hotel grounds, pool and beach are beautiful. The rooms are smaller but clean and very nice. We didn't eat at any of the hotel restaurants so can't really comment on them. Would definitely stay at the Hyatt again, who knows hopefully next year.

Just came back from a long weekend at the Hyatt Aruba with a group of girls for a friend's 40th. The hotel was perfect for our needs. The rooms are clean and comfortable but small. Just a word of caution- our room overlooked the bar area and it is loud. Plus you can hear everything going on in the hallway (talking, yelling, running, doors slamming, etc). If you are a light sleeper this is a problem. The staff is nice but don't expect people to be falling over you asking to do things for you. It is not that kind of place. The breakfast buffet was good and the grounds are really nice. The tennis courts are another story. They are really falling apart and are surrounded by a junk yard. I was shocked that this was considered to be a part of the Hyatt. The hotel is in a great location. We had dinners at Madame Janette (fantastic), Aqua Grill (not good) and Screaming Eagle (nice trendy atmosphere and food was good). We had no issues with the huts, but the hotel was not packed. We went to the Larimar spa at the Radisson which was amazing. All in all, it was a great trip and I would return to the Hyatt knowing all of the above.

We spent our one week honeymoon at the Hyatt Regency and our somewhat high expectations were easily met. The hotel grounds are impeccable, especially when compared to the other hotels in the area. The rooms themselves were especially clean, the bed/pillows were quite comfortable and the bathroom had a nice modern feel. The only negative critique I could give the room would be the small balcony, it really is not even big for a chair. As newlyweds, we would have liked to enjoy a nice glass of wine or champagne after a day on the beach overlooking the ocean, but that was simply not possible. The Pool: The pool was decent from the perspective that the hotel does a very nice job separating the kid from adult section, waterslide was fun, swim up bar is a plus, although the filtration system as a whole needed work. Typically we spent the day at the beach/ocean and made our way to the pool later in the afternoon. By this time, there was almost a white film of sunscreen along the sides of the pool, along with mosquitos, etc, this seemed to be a recurring theme day after day. I assume this is not an issue in the morning hours as each morning the the staff is outside prepping the pool, the filtration system is just lacking. We did not have an issue getting a beach chair anyday, however, upon check in we were told the hotel was only at 75% occupancy so that worked in our favor. As far as the beach hut reservations, we had previously heard this could be an issue, but this was not as well. Each morning before breakfast we would reserve our huts (around 8-8:30am) and never had an issue getting a prime hut. The earlier you go, the closer to the ocean you can get a hut. We had the free breakfast buffet at Ruinas Del Mar each day as part of our package, so we ate there everyday. The food was pretty good for a buffet, although I didn't stray to far outside of the omelette station and fruit selections and the coffee was good which is important for me. We also had dinner at Ruinas Del Mar one night and it was possibly our best meal while in Aruba. For comparison purposes, we also ate at restaurants such as Madamme Jeanette's, El Gaucho, Aqua Grill and Gianni's. We had some frozen drinks and lunch at the Palms bar everyday, we really didn't have any subpar food at the hotel, although we did not try Cafe Piccolo or Jappengo. The entire staff was wonderful and couldn't be nicer. The Spa was also great. I would highly recommend the Hyatt over any other hotel at this point in time, I don't expect them to have any real competition until the Ritz is completed at the end of 2012. One word of advice on a local restaurant....If you walk down to the town square area, which you should, do not eat at Scala, the food was terrible.
