“Very nice Marriott”
Reviewed September 13, 2013

This is a large hotel but has many great features. The rooms are very large and comfortable, there are a lot of good dining choices on property, the staff is excellent, every person here greets us wherever we are. The adult pool is very nice and the little Palm Beach village with numerous restaurants is just a nice 10 minute walk along the beach.

My wife & I stayed here at the Trade Winds Club. I would recommend it for the convenience. It's nice to not have to wait for breakfast & lunch at sit down restaurants. If you would like to eat great meals for each meal, then it's probably not worth the money. The food was good, but for the money you could get much better at restaurants. The open bar is very nice.

Also you have a much better chance at getting a palapa to sit under on the beach with Trade Winds Club, because they have some reserved for these guests. We never had a problem getting one, but we usually got to the beach by 9:30am.

Dear Jason

Thank you for your nice review of our resort, it is very much appreciated. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed our Tradewinds Club, it is a lovely touch of adult luxury, and as you mentioned it is not aimed as an all-inclusive option but more of a supplement, however of course if guests choose to they can utilize the club for all meals. The part of the club I love the most is the feeling of exclusivity that is a nice treat now and again. Again thank you for your review and I look forward to welcoming you back to our resort soon.

Very friendly and helpful staff, beautiful lobby and terrific location. Recommend an oceanview room so you can watch those beautiful sunsets. On site amenities were well above average - fitness center, pools, restaurants - but we still walked into town for most meals. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Loved the robe and slippers each evening - very cozy after a day in the sun.
Staff at the fitness center, especially Emma, were wonderfully accomodating and friendly - she delivers lemon water to you as you work out!! Staff at Ruth's Chris Steak House, especially Claudia, went over and beyond to make a terrific meal even more memorable.
All in all, a beautiful property for a beautiful island. Definitely would stay here again.

Room Tip: Go for the oceanfront so you can view the sunsets from your balcony. For a real splurge, get a juni...

This is our third time at Marriott Aruba Resort and we can't be happier with the service we receive for every penny we spent.
Right now is our last night at the hotel and, as always, we don't want to leave.
Rooms are great, clean and comfortable; pool and beach area are relaxing and very well maintained; food is good everywhere and besides being expensive in most restaurants, there are convenient options including Waves Bar right on the beach.
But what settle apart this hotel is the high level of genuine and professional service everywhere. We traveled with our 2 years toddler and he made good friends among service staff who attended him like a baby king.
Our true appreciation for:

Alfonso and Elston at the front desk, for a quick check-in and for even better room relocation due to loud music below us.
Yulian, Natasha and Paulina at La Vista restaurant for going the extra mile and took great care of our son (particularly Yulian who gave our son kisses and "pastechi" every morning at breakfast).
Jetnny at The Bazaar store who found Helen to print us a photo that we needed as a gift for a new friend.
Nilo and Marcelo at the Waves Bar, always smiling and giving prompt and efficient service.
Carlos from vacation club, with good advices and saying hi every time we met at the beach.

The vibe of this Marriott is amazing for any type of people, there are families with noisy kids (like us), honeymooners, empty nesters, old couples; and the staff is able to accomodate all of them without conflict.

One suggestion: you could arrange a baggage transfer service for guests departing on flights late afternoon/early night. We were thinking to deliver our bags to your sister property Renaissance or even difectly to the airport, so we can spend few hours at Oranjestad downtown before our flight, but it's not possible to do it.

Hopefully we will be here with our son Mateo on our next vacations, keep working hard and doing a great job.

We stayed at Marriot Aruba Resort August 22 through August 29, 2013. The accomodations were wonderful. Our room overlooked the pool and spectacular ocean. Nilo and Jorge the servers at the beach were outstanding. We never had to wait for service a drink or more ice for our beer bucket! (we were there every day!) At the adult pool Jhune and Miro were always happy to see us and their service was over and beyond outstanding!! Marriette the manager of the great room always had a smile on her face and was so engaging with all the guests. On the day of our anniversary she got us a ocean front seat at simply fish and personally met us there with a gift. We cannot say enough about Marriette!! That being said explains why Alix, Daniel, Sandra and Terris at the lobby bar were always so happy to greet you and serve you!! Their work ethic is outstanding!! It was so nice to be treated so well every day!! Alix also would work at the lobby café so it was so nice to be greeted by her smiling face in the morning. I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay, we could not have asked for anything more.

Everyone at this hotel, from the front desk to the maintenance workers were very friendly and helpful. You can expect a smile and hello from just about everybody. It really is one happy island.

We were greeted with a nice glass of juice upon arrival and check in went smooth. We asked if any upgrades were available for rewards members, but the hotel was full. The room was very spacious and our partial oceanview had a great view of the pool and ocean. Sunsets were incredible each night. The grounds were well kept, small lizards are on the resort and iguanas hang by the pools.

We had booked a day trip to Curacao, but found out at the airport that DAE airlines had gone bankrupt the week before. (doh!) When we returned to the hotel, the front desk made numerous calls to the airlines on our behalf, but to no avail. Lost $200. Be careful with small airlines. Points to the hotel for the help.

We had no issues getting a palapa on the beach, some are reserved, some are not I guess. Find one without a reserved sign and enjoy. We did see people moving people's stuff and that's not cool.

The only negative, it was our 2 year anniversary. We noted this when our reservation was made and told anyone who asked, (bellboy, rewards desk) and we did not receive any acknowledgement from the hotel. While not a big deal, we read other reviews where people were showered with gifts. This is a big hotel, but the response should be the same for everyone.

A few tips:
-Drinks are 2 for 1 at the poolbar from 12pm to 1pm. It's only certain drinks, but still a good deal.
-From 5:30 to 7:30 in the lobby bar, it's 2 for $10, (mojitos and martinis) great deal.
-We found a nice cheap breakfast spot at Dushi bagels and burgers past the Holiday inn (10mins walk). Total was $17 for 2 people and great food.
-If you have a car, take a short trip to Malmok beach, there's nice snorkeling for free. There's also a grocery store across from the Tropicana resort that has beer and food for very cheap. They also have good breakfast.
- Buy liquor at the airport, it will be well worth it. We saw people with mini coolers on the beach and were mixing their own drinks.

Overall, great place, great customer service. You can be as active or lazy as you want and no one will bug you or try to sell you on activities.

Dear Kinoxl

Thank you for your great review of our resort, it is very much appreciated. It sounds like you had a great time in Aruba; you are spot on in saying that it is One Happy Island. I am sorry we were not able to upgrade you; we do tend to operate at high occupancies most of the time which makes upgrades a little difficult. I am also sorry that we missed the opportunity to do something nice for your 2nd anniversary, you are right we should not have missed that. Again thank you for your review and I look forward to welcoming you back to our resort soon.

We were at this hotel the last week of August 2013. We had reserved the Tradewinds Club for a certain date and couldn't get a flight, so we changed the date of the hotel. Unknown to us it appears when the date changed our Tradewinds didn't convey. We were very sad to find out that all rooms were taken. I was very distraught, thinking we had to take a lesser room or change hotels. A small crowd at the front desk tried to help us. Finally the front desk manager, Glenn, came to our rescue. He gave us a fantastic huge room with wrap-around ocean views, and more. We thank him again for the lengths he went to for us. We also have to thank the Tradewinds staff, especially Maria, who did everything she could to take care of us.

While eating in the Tradewinds we met Manager Marielle Smeets, who asked some guests for their opinions on the club and hotel. We told her what we really liked and also some irritations (like towels being nowhere near the entrances to the pool and the need to go back to return them--far from where we sat). She followed up with us, thanking us for answering her questions, and did us two favors, and sent us some sweets (not necessary, but again, goes to show how the staff cares.) Thank you very much. We really enjoyed the staff and beautiful hotel.

Room Tip: Tradewinds is great. Note that if you have trouble walking, there can be a good walk to the Club, as...
